    Привіт, Інно!
Firstly, I would like to say: Дуже дякую!
Everyone knows how difficult it has been for you to keep working and producing quality content for us while your country is under attack. However, you don't give up easily because you are smart, brave, and fearless! In other words, you are Ukrainian!
Remember, dear Inna, you are not alone! The whole world stands with Ukraine!
With that being said, I wish you a day filled with love, courage, and hope!
    Па-па! Щасливо!

@@SpeakUkrainian , I was hoping to learn Ukrainian language, but you right everything in the Ukrainian alphabet which I (and I suspect many others) don't know and therefore can not understand. I gave up after a short while because I can't understand Ukrainian writing in the Ukrainian alphabet. If I was able to have it written like in three columns I think I could understand better. Column 1, Ukrainian word written in Ukrainian letters. Column 2, Ukrainian word written in "English" letters. Column 3, Ukrainian to English translation. When you write in Ukrainian letters, I have no idea what the symbols mean. I do appreciate your effort though. I will look through your older videos to find some that explain the Ukrainian alphabet/symbols and their meanings and translations.

      @Wendy____ Před 2 lety +2

I think the key, at least for myself, is breaking things down and being patient. Repetition. I start with the Ukrainian alphabet and learn the sounds. Some words will translate directly to English. I found that helpful. Immersion into the language is important. I will listen to Ukrainian videos with English subtitles and Ukrainian videos with Ukrainian subtitles. Use a few words around your home. Start to build sentences. Baby steps. Write the sentence in Ukrainian and then in English. Understand the structure. It's not easy. Take a few words a build around them. You are essentially learning to speak and write again. Good luck to you all. ❤🇺🇦

Good news, I saw a video of the brave people of Kherson playing the Bayraktar song just across the street from some Russian tanks and the Ukrainian Army seems determined to retake the city sometime soon - yet ANOTHER Russian General was killed on the Chornobaivka Airfield just outside Kherson! I was thinking that introducing this song and discussing the translation of the lyrics of the Bayraktar song might make a good video by Inna. Bayraktar is the name of the Turkish drones that brought many victories to the Ukrainians.

I'm so happy to see you're safe and healthy. 🥰 Your manicure is holding up nicely! That color is good for you.
Do you, your roommate(s), and the sweet puppy have what you need for food, water, and medicines?
Thank you so much for the vocabulary map idea. I will start using that this week at work to serve as a reminder in the background sort of while I'm working and can't spare my ears for audio lessons. Immersion everywhere I can have it!
We do make fun of poor writing by calling it "chicken scratch." In the U.S. (and probably there, too), we like to joke about how medical doctors have really bad handwriting, too. It is said that they do it so prescriptions can't be illegally copied. I don't know if that is so true because they still do it despite how much of that part of their work is on computers. 😂Maybe they are just too busy with all their intelligence about how to do medicine that something as trivial as writing does not have anywhere to go in their thinking? 😉
Please stay safe. We all are looking forward to hearing from you soon.

    Привіт Інна!
Do You think this method is also effective for native speakers from other slavic countries?
I'm Polish and I speak also a little Czech and Slovak. What I find difficult, is to learn words that are similar to these which I know from my language.
    Examples:
    Кінь - Koń
    Кіт - Kot
    Сік - Sok
    Дякую - Dziękuję
    Мене - Mnie
    etc.
Sometimes it differs with only 1-2 letters. So basically it is easy to understand (passive language knowledge), but it is harder to write or speak 100% correctly.
Do You have some tips how to deal with that?

I am not sure what word you were looking for when you were describing chicken scratch. Chickens are either roosters m., or hens. Chickens are located in the poultry section of the market. Poultry just means birds. So Turkeys would be in the poultry section. We don’t usually carry geese or ducks in our supermarkets but any other bird would be poultry. Chickens walk on their feet and they scratch the dirt looking for food. Perhaps you were looking for either hen or feet on the video. It almost sounded like you were trying to say the hand of the chicken but we would say the foot.

I have a suggestion for a video. Phrases useful in Wartime. Foreign fighters mostly don’t speak Ukrainian. Can you pick useful words when confronting the Orks or helping the wounded so English speaking people can communicate with non English speakers on the front lines of your country.
    Slava Ukraïni
    p. s. This will also help people who will never travel to your country during conflicts be willing to give financial support.

Відомий does that have anything to do with дом? Домашнє завдання homework. So a household name, which means famous.
I find etymology useful. Чайник teapot in my research came up as meaning a useless person. It’s the same as a jughead which comes from the old jugs with long handles looking like donkey ears. I don’t have an explanation for singers without souls being called singing underwear. I heard that on a NHK interview with a member of the Kyiv cabaret group Dakh Daughters.
It took me almost a year to remember думка is thought and associate it with the musical form dumka, which is like a thought poem in music.

Ukraine exemplifies the fight for freedom. And they will succeed because they are adaptive, creative, and caring. Ukraine is the embodiment of freedom and grit over oppression and tyranny. The world is in their debt for their heroic example.

In english you can call bad handwriting for "chicken scratches". But the "hand" of the chicken, I think is just called a wing. It doesn't really have a hand, probably why it writes so badly! 🤣😃

But a chicken scratches with a foot. I believe feet and hands in Ukrainian are the same word changed for arm and leg.

@@wieredoodwierdo7688 you are quite close. In Ukrainian we usually use the word "лапа" ("lapa") to refer to a generic limb (either a leg or a hand) of a non-human being. In English the closest word would be a "paw" 🐾
Although, I can totally see why did she use "hand" in the explanation - the word "лапа" ("lapa") can also be used instead of a "hand" ("рука", "ruka"), in a negative context or/and to emphasize on inhumanity, for example:
      Забери свої лапи від мене!
      Zabery svoi lapy vid mene!
      Take your hands(paws) off me!
      Яка в тебе здоровенна лапа!
      Yaka v tebe zdorovenna lapa!
What a huge hand(paw) you have!

Are there any movies, videos on Russians with Ukrainian subtitles? Или наоборот?
I know the Russian language quite well and understand of course 50% of Ukrainian but it’s hard for me to learn new words.
I noticed that it really helps, if I can watch Russian language movies with Ukrainian subtitles but there are not so many…

When I used Google translate to translate the English sentence “My hovercraft is full of eels.” And translated back to English it said my hovercraft is full of acne( or pimples).
I never trust Google translate without verification. How Do you say “eels” vs “ pimples” or “Acne”?
