    Thank you so much for the effort to publish a video. I followed all the instructions unfortunate I wasn't able to flash de BIOS correctly.
    I made my own research and finally I found the way and here is what I did.
    My main problem: My GPU wasn't recocnited by the Operating Sistem, I have integrated graphics so I was able to start windows without problem but the GPU don't appears in Devices Manager (just the lighs and fans was turn on ,The GPU was almost dead).
    Solution: I follow almost all the steps of the video with some considerations.
    The Only way to get some life signals on the OS was shorting the bios pins 1-8 so, If you made the short in bios properly (Shorting the bios pins with the CPU off, then turn on and just mantain the shorting until you see the windows user.) now you went able to run the amdvbflash -i command and see the adapter 0 like the video.
    This is the most important thing, you need see your adapter (GPU) to continue with the next steps.
    The next command on cmd should be: amdvbflash -unlockrom 0
    (I don't sure if this command is neccesary but I used)
    Now Is the flash: amdvbflash -p -f 0 name.rom
    In this line I use -f to force the bios flash, you need to be sure that you selecct the correct adapter in case that you have more than 1 GPU, also you need the rigth stock bios for your GPU.
    Here when you ejecute the command a lot of people get de error 0fl01, I also got this error like 20 times and here is what worked for me. The problem is while you are flashing the gpu the temperature goes up and the gpu becomes unrecognizable to the system and it is impossible to flash properly. The correct way to do the flashing is with the gpu assembled correctly with the heatsink and fans, but it is almost impossible because the short has to be done with the gpu disassembled and my solution was to solder 2 cables, 1 cable in the PIN1 and another in the PIN8 to be able to assemble the GPU correctly to avoid temperature problems and then make the short from the outside with the soldered cables.
    In this way I was able to flash my GPU at the first try, I am very tired to continue writing more details, but if you have doubts, leave a comment

    Quick tip: If you have a dual BIOS GPU (like the Aorus 5700 XT), and you mess up one BIOS and want to recover it without disassembling the GPU, you can start with the working BIOS. Just when it displays video, quickly switch to the faulty BIOS. After that, you just need to follow the instructions in the video to flash the original ROM.

  • @include55
    @include55 Před rokem

    Wow, those pins are very small on the chip.. I think will buy an USB SPI programmer to use :)
    Thanks for the video, it was very informative.
    The bios signature, is it only used when flashing, or is the GPU validating the signature when booting? If I program a modified bios with no valid signature using SPI programmer, will it boot?

Once in windows, open device manager, navigate under Display Adapters, right click the dead bios gpu and 'Disable' it. Once you do that, just open AMDVbFlash (latest version available on techpowerup), and flash your bios backup. Reboot, open device manager and re-enable the dead gpu. This fixed my 5600XT, i hope to have helped someone out there

      It's the GPU temperature, it makes it crash, so be sure to bring something to cool it down so you can have time to flash it

  • @angryquack9687
    @angryquack9687 Před 3 lety

    The only mistake that you did was to use fcuking windows. I bricked my cards several times while doing experiments with the vbios, and recovered without taking the gpu apart. Further more, that was done remotely on a big a55 12 gpu rig running hiveos. Just toggled the maintenance without loading drivers, rebooted and reflashed with a working vbios.
    One more...if the gpu was bent over by the window, and won't post, flash hive into a usb (you'll need an account if you don't have one), boot it without the card, set everything up, upload the good vbios, toggle maintenance without loading drivers, turn the pc off, connect the gpu through a riser or the mobo and don't hook up the riser power or the gpu if on the mobos pcie. Turn on the pc, and hook up the power to the riser or the gpu while booting up, then make the gpu great again.

      Apagas la pc, puenteas el bios con los pines 1 y 8, encendes la pc y cuando te da imagen soltas el puenteo, luego la flasheas y deberia quedar bien
