    Joe, you posted this 5 years ago and it's still helping folks...like me. I would have never attempted the job without your video and it turned out to be quite straightforward aven taking my time only took about an hour. As one of your other viewers said, I also didn't have to totally disconnect the door panel. Thank you.

    Just want to say thank you for making a short, but concise video. I consider myself handy but have never done much work on cars. I used your video too replace my daughter's mirror after a run in with a parking garage pillar. Your video showed every single step with exactly the right amount of detail. Absolutely perfect “how to” video! If you are careful when removing the door panel (go slow) you can access the wiring for the mirror by lowering the panel slightly once it’s loose without disconnecting any of the cables. Thanks for putting this out.

    Thank You for posting this DYI video. I had gone to Honda dealership in McKinney, TX, where I purchased 2 CRV’s (and in the process of purchasing a 3rd one, though I am starting to think otherwise) to get this mirror fixed. They wanted to charge me ...... drum roll please, $795. After I stopped laughing, I went to Autozone, got the whole unit for $88 and installed it myself with your video ..... incredible .... even after I told Honda of McKinney I could get the part cheaper, they were unwilling to bend ...... anyways, thanks for posting this detailed DYI Joe !!!!

    Thank you for the video! I recently had to do this for my grandma on her 2013 CRV. One side note: It is not necessary to completely remove the door panel to replace the side mirror. This was a lot easier than replacing one on my wife's Nissan Xterra. Its a similar process but the mirrors electrical connection on the Xterra is halfway in the middle of door which requires you to take off the entire door panel and remove the vapor barrier. This repair only cost around $50 which was a god send for my Grandma on SSI. Thanks again!

    Great video. Really saved me some cash so thank you! I have a question (alittle issue I ran into) after I disconnected the 2 cables for the door lock and handle, when I went to put it back to its original position, it stays in the locked position and I can’t open the door from the inside or outside. I have to pull the door handle first, then move the lock to the “unlock” position, then the door opens. When I go to unlock the car via the remote, the actuator makes the door handle and lock move really fast to unlock/lock position. Kind of sounds like a sub machine gun going off lol. Sorry for the long explanation, any help you could provide would be awesome!

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  Před 5 lety

      My guess is that the lock cable is twisted or maybe not installed quite correctly. I think I dealt with something like this on another car and it had to do with the cable being routed incorrectly or twisted.
      Good luck!

    • @angelmontalvo5583
      @angelmontalvo5583 Před 5 lety

      Joe S. Yeah I have a feeling I didn’t put it back correctly, even though I put it back how it was (at least I feel like I did) never had any issues with it. What do you mean by twisted? Thanks for responding. If I can’t fix it by the morning then I’ll just take it to the shop. Hopefully it won’t cost much

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  Před 5 lety

      Angel Montalvo “Twisted” in this case would mean that it got wrapped around the other cable (or some other obstruction) before being reattached. That little bit of tension can wreak havoc. And it also makes the cable ever so slightly shorter.

    • @angelmontalvo5583
      @angelmontalvo5583 Před 5 lety

      Joe S. So I was able to reattach the cables back to there original positions (latched in and secured) but the lock button stays stuck in the locked position and could only be moved to the unlocked position when the door handle is pulled. 🤦🏽‍♂️

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  Před 5 lety +1

      I’m guessing the metal clip on the tweeter pod came off and is stuck in the metal door panel.
      At 1:55 in this video you can see the metal clip and the vertical rectangular hole it’s supposed to clip into in the metal door panel. That’s really the only thing that holds that panel on.

    • @kevinscf1
      @kevinscf1 Před 5 lety +1

    You don't really need to release the big white connector inside the door panel. Once you've removed the ball pins for the lock and the door handle, you can just set the panel on a block and leave it in place. This video doesn't tell you how to release that big white connector and it's not worth the time to figure out how to do it. Just prop the panel up and leave the connector in place, that gives enough access to the mirror assembly to get the job done.
