Welcome everyone to my first official review of the Bambu Labs P1P! This printer sent me on a little bit of a roller coaster ride at first! I hated it! It wasn't working and I began to worry that all of the hype I was seeing across the pages was just hot air!
But after a quick firmware update; It was near perfect. it worked. It works.
So join me today while I talk about the new Bambu P1P and why it's turned into the best 3D Printer I've ever used!

I had an ender 5+ that I later found out had a ton of issues wrong with it. However, it made me start to hate 3d printing. I convinced my wife to let me buy the P1P and it restarted my love for 3d printing. Now she hates how much stuff I’ve been printing. 100% recommended printer.

The P1P with the AMS rekindled my love of 3D printing and I’ve been printing almost non-stop, used it to print RepRack brackets so I would have a place for all the new filament I’ve been buying.
With the P1P (since it doesn’t have lidar) I recommend using OrcaSlicer (it’s a fork of Bambu Studio) and going through the filament calibration process (they have a wiki page about it). Calibrated filament settings definitely improve print quality.

Because of frank I got a ender 5 plus 2 years ago, it never was reliable until modding it. I just got a x1c with ams a few months ago and it is the only printer I want to use. My ender 5 plus, two ender 3 pro's, ender 2 pro, Cr6-se, and SLA printers have not been turned on since the x1c blew my mind with its speed. I hope Bambu makes a large format corexy, and glad im not the only one that hated the stock ender 5 plus.

@@itzmemaariocleantaps8201 from what I know now I would start with a cheap ender 3 for $99 from microcenter. It will teach you the basics of printing and troubleshooting and repairing a printer(with lots of videos to help on CZcams). If you just want it to print without knowing how what or why Bambu is the way to go but when something goes wrong its going to be very hard to understand and repair as it is a very complex machine with very little videos or information for support.
Early on I was frustrated trying to calibrate/ tune my ender and slicer but now that I have the Bambu I have not needed those skills you but very thankful that I have them.

I'm really glad to see this video. Your tiktoks got my into the hobby, and I found out about the Bambu printers last year, about two weeks after I bought my Ender CR-10 v3. I had severe FOMO but I saw your posts on either Instagram or Tiktok about how you didn't like it. This week I've been debating upgrading because while I love my CR-10, I really want something faster. This video pushed me over the edge and I'll be ordering a P1P next week for myself as a birthday present.

@@FranklyBuilt This is 6 month late but I have a question I hope you can answer. I am trying to get into 3D printing mainly to make Cosplay items, D & D/Cyberpunk miniatures, statues, and busts. Do you think the P1P would be good at that seeing how detailed you're Mandalorian mask looks or do you think I should go with a Resin Printer. I'm a little wary on Resin because of the smells and possible toxins as I don't really have a proper ventilation space.

In one of your older videos you said something along the lines, "Don't print Benchy and then immediately go and print Iron Man helmet as your second print" and you were 100% right at that time, but this printer actually made that not only possible but also VERY easy! Admittedly, I binge watched all of your Iron Man videos before I clicked print and your advices saved me a bunch of time and filament, but most importantly it made my Mark 85 helmet print perfect! 😍 Well... as perfect as noob's 4th print can be... 🤣 THANKS! 😃

Another great review Frank! Man I keep looking at this P1P. I've had suck bad experiences with my old (R.I.P) Creality CR10 Pro that I'm afraid to get another FDM printer. After I gave up on the CR10 Pro, I got an Epax E10 8K resin that I absolutely LOVE!! Not one single issue, nothing!! The CR10 Pro was an absolute nightmare! One day it would print beautifully, the next spaghetti city! I tried everything and constant adhesion issue. I swear it was the "auto bed leveling" that caused issues but whatever. Anyway, this Bambu Labs p1p looks too good to be true. And the price is ridiculously cheap. I'm going to keep watching videos and read reviews but I think I'm sold. The fast speed is nice, but I'd trade that for reliability and consistently. I'd love to be able to hit print like I do on my Epax and know without a doubt that it will print 100% every single time.

  • @andrewmakestuff
    @andrewmakestuff Před 11 měsíci +1

I picked one of these up on the pre-order, and also had to set up the camera and light. The time I've spent fiddling with my CR-10S made the out of box plug-and-play of the P1P really really nice. I had a bit of a hiccup with something really simple that (i haven't checked recently so maybe it's been added) initially frustrated me: Filament changing. I'm used to having a button press pre-heat and change filament. It took me longer than I want to admit to figure out that I had to pre (or re-heat) the hot end before changing the filament when it would run out, as the hot end doesn't automatically heat when changing filament. While I haven't had any wifi connection issues, it does take a REALLY long time to send and upload the files to the printer. I had one batch of 4 figures take around 40 minutes to upload on the printer before it started. I am probably going to hard-line the printer in as I am also really hit or miss with the webcam working. I printed but haven't set up the part cooling fan. It prints so well without it, I don't see the point of it.

I have an x1 carbon with 2 ams units and man does it produce some gorgeous prints. Although once you start getting into complex multi color prints and models the print time increases dramatically because of filament changes but that's to be expected. It still prints faster than any other printer I own and it's RELIABLE!!!! I litterally just slice hit print and go about my day. Along as you keep the poop chute cleared or if you even have the back exposed with a bin underneath it you could go on vacation or anywhere for 2+ days with your printer printing and not have to worry about print failure

If I had the space I would definitely be getting a X1C. The P1P and X1C have shaken up the market so much, I hope prusa are working on something to compete. If Bambu labs come out with a X1C XL or P1P XL that can do large prints at the same insane speeds, Prusa, Ender and Elegoo are going to have their work cut out for them. For now I'll be working away on my Ender 3 v2 trying to get the most out of it until I move to somewhere with more space.

I think Elegoo is still in a great spot. Their build quality and reliability is insane for the money. Their Plus by far out matches a cr-10 and is only $350, the Max's build volume isn't really needed unless you're doing full body cos play prints.

Hey frank hope your doing well.
I’m really interested to get into 3D printing to make helmets and other display pieces for not just my own pleasure but also to sell if they turn out better after working on them.
Was deciding to get an ender 3 because you said in the past they are a good beginner printer plus they have attachments like laser for engraving but after watching your stream (by the way was very fun to watch) about the Neptune 4 in which I believe you said are good for beginners and faster I am now undeceive.
I just want a beginner friendly printer that is reasonably priced and that’s decent speed and quality.
As you were the first person I watched about this hobby and do similar things that I world like to print I think your the right man for the job to help me decide.
I would love to hear your feedback back but I know your mostly busy but I thought it would be worth a shot. Anyway keep up the great work and amazing videos.😄👍

Ok, so question (as I am currently dealing with ANOTHER issue on my ender 3 pro) I was thinking of saving up for a second 3d printer and was looking at and saving up for the X1C as my 2nd one. Now, am I better just aiming for the P1P? I mainly just want to print helmets, props, statues and little stuff, I dont think I want to build iron man suits(yet) or do any major cosplay suits like that. So to sum up the question, would the p1p meet my needs just fine or should I just aim for the x1c, budget aside?

I am using puck lights for hands on my iron man suit, which only has 3 lights. I got a five pack of the lights, and I need more wiring to be able to let the battery pack reach into my forearm to hide it from view. Would it be safe to solder the wires from my other three puck lights to lenghten the wire? They are the same ones you used for your MK39 suit

How are the tolerances on the P1P when printing parts that need to fit in place? How much, if at all, do you have to send to get parts to fit together?

I dont remeber changing the speed of my p1p at all. I have 3 walls and im getting mando helmets in 14.5 hours! Theyre immaculate, wouldnt need to start sanding any lower than 120grit. The thing is a monster and well worth the money. Ive had ONE failed print and it was the pre sliced file, since slicing my own, smooth sailing

@Frankly Built , would a Creality Ender 3 Pro 3D Printer work towards making helmets and other large scale builds like you do? I know that ill probably have to slice them in half and connect them some other way but if theres a 3d printer around the 200 range that would work best for larger scale builds please let me know as I want to get into building large scale prints like you. Thanks!

Do you test prusa printers? Be interested in your thoughts on the prusa xl. Seems like a perfect printer for large scale prints and hopefully with new firmware upgrades it should be able to print fast. This would then become the king of fast large scale printing? Bought a cr10s pro v2 back in the day based on your thoughts and looking for my next large printer

    If I’m installing the Companion Cube, and building an ventilated enclosure, do you recommend installing;
    - Chamber Temperature Regulator Fan
    - Control Board Fan
    - Auxiliary Part Cooling Fan
    Please let me know

I can't believe I just found your channel. Great video I'm actually looking at getting a new printer as my old ender 3 is over 4 years old now and I'm in the market for something new. In you opinion which would be better for cosplay and props the ELEGOO Neptune 3 or the Bambu P1P? Now to work on the backlog of all your old vids!

I watched one of your videos showing how to motorise the face plate I plan on making the hinges with cardboard and resin as well thanks for sharing everything you do on CZcams great content that’s very helpful.

Also, should note that note only is the P1P 100 USD cheaper, they have also announced the P1S, which is, effectively, a fully enclosed P1P with all the upgrade parts to make it work.

"you won't be able to sleep with this" actually im not too much of a heavy sleeper but it sits about 1 meter away from the end of my bed and im perfectly comfortable with it. it also has a 'silent' mode that prints at 50% speed. if im doing something that has a lot of long diagonal lines where it has to use both x and y motors at the same time, it gets a little loud. i just put it on 'silent' and its very quiet for me :)

I do wish the P1P was a little bit quicker when sending from PC, my "extracting 3mf" step is really slow on more complicated prints, and sometimes even simple ones, i usually manually do it from the micro sd, and the camera is kind of meh, both little issues for me are not major, since the prints come out so great. my printer has been going non stop since i got it. I love it!
