    My K1 Max was a disaster with bad first layers, tons of VFA, ghosting and ringing...Creality send me a new heat bed witch helped a bit but still crap first layers, so I took things into my own hands. I CADed some bushing to get the bed more level and I went from a 1.2-1.3mm variance to a .4mm and now my first layers are much better. I rooted the machine and did some proper input shaping witch made the ringing and ghosting about 80% better, not gone but better. The VFA got better by doing the Voron belt tensioning method. Also I have switched to OrcaSlicer and that alone helped with print quality. I had a ton of quality control issues from loose connectors to loose bolts and screws. I have 320 hours on my K1 max now and its as good as its going to get with this unit, I'm getting by with it. I have about 100 hours printing ASA and that chamber does get hot, i have seen temps from 50-60C depending the height of the print. I own 3 Bambu printers and 6 AMS units with 1500hrs between them with no issues since day one, just regular maintenance. The K1 Max is no Bambu and thats a fact in build quality, and print quality.

    Hi Frank, Thank you for your comparison. I am an old Ender 3 Pro user, and printing random stuff. but recently also started printing mask for my daughter her cosplay. With my current ender 3 that is more difficult for the bed size. You mentioned the K1 max is the one to choose, but I am in a doubt, as the P1S with AMS sounds an ideal printer... I would love to go for the P1S, but have doubts if this is the one to choose, because of the bed size... Would love to get your opinion. thnx.

    I own the P1S. The only time I use the screen is to turn off the internal light the which admittedly is a bit painful. Otherwise, everything is done either via Bambu Studio or Bambu Handy. The P1S is just a really fast and efficient machine. I have been printing for a long time now and what we are seeing now is almost a revolution in the market. Even cheap bedslingers are giving you great results for very little effort. We are almost at the push print and forget stage. Almost.

  • @dyops
    @dyops Před 9 měsíci +5

    For a few months now, I've been researching which 1st printer to buy around my 50th bday this Nov. I made a comment in one of your videos (and others) that it's down to the P1S Combo and K1 Max since they are similarly priced with the K1 Max slightly cheaper with discounts and free shipping here in Canada. With only room and budget for 1 printer, I chose these 2 since it takes up less space than a bedslinger (have to account for the bed moving back and forth and screens that are way off 1 side on the slingers). The enclosure let's me print a wide range of materials. They are both fast and produce great quality prints. I am really impressed with your textured helmets without those layer rings on top. So, it really boils down to what are the things I will print the most which TBH, I still don't know as I want to print multi-colored things for myself, toys for the kids and to give as gifts (keychains, magnets, signs, light boxes, etc). But I also want to print cosplay stuff, not only for myself but for my kids too. The biggest future project is to print R2 and 3PO costumes for my twins while I dress in my Sandtrooper armour, so I can finally say, "I found the droids we're looking for!" 😂 Better if my wife dresses as Obi and I print parts, combined with cardboard, to make the stroller to look like a speeder.
    I don't think the latest Bambu will be larger but it makes me think again. I can buy the P1S Combo now and IF I can get a 2nd printer, it will be one of the budget "Plus" bedslingers. OR buy the K1 Max, and wait for an AMS for it or buy the new Bambu if the price is below $500. Still have at least a month to make a decision.

    • @multiversosdeleo3864
      @multiversosdeleo3864 Před 9 měsíci +1

      The guys from Bambulab are going to give us some news on this 20th. We still don't know what is it. The "educated guess" is that's going to be a multiplexor to use multiple colors in any printer with the AMS. So my advice is wait for the 20th to make your final decision.
      Ps: I bought a K1 Max but I'm still waiting for it. I'm in Chile so it's a loooong way for the printer 😆

    • @dyops
      @dyops Před 9 měsíci

      @@multiversosdeleo3864 I believe it's a new printer. Rumors too say it's smaller than the current lineup. I think it was Nathan Build Robots who said it's not an AMS for other companies. The reason that convinced me it's not is - imagine the testing involved to make it compatible with different models of printers. It would be a nightmare and expensive! Why would they spend money for their competitors when they can get more customers to buy their products and ONLY their products? They sell parts, accessories for their printers and sell their own filaments. If it was a universal AMS for all, who gets blamed if it fails to produce a good print on, let's say, the K1 Max? Creality? Nope, Bambu Labs will be blamed. I don't think they will risk to tarnish their reputation.
      So 1st, it will be a new printer, mostly like more affordable for everyone,

    I really enjoy your videos, especially the builds with the helmets. I currently have 2 x Anycubic Vypers and decided I wanted to do the Blue Beetle helmet after recently seeing the movie. I ended up having to scale the helmet up a little and splitting it up as it would print as a whole helmet. After doing some prep and trying to get it ready to paint I have come across a problem in that some of the lines that are cut into the face plate are either very faint or have disappeared. As a result I need to add these and have tried with a set of hook & pick tools and a dremel, though not really happy with the result. Have you had a similar problem and if so did you fix it and how? Would appreciate suggestions as I don't want to have to print again due to the time it takes.

    • @Gatsurendo
      @Gatsurendo Před 9 měsíci +2

      Pretty much all of the issues were the earliest models sent out of the K1. The K1 max had an upgraded extruder and that was also offered for like 2 dollars to the K1 users to fix theirs. The new K1 shipping out I believe comes with the newer extruder. Other than that the only main issue with the K1 series is some people are getting broken glass when shipped but that also happens with the bambus. My K1 has been beyond great aside from 1 bad roll of filament and user error here and there. Best bet is P1S or K1 Max tbh.

    Question:
    I have been printing for about 1 1/2 years so no where near an expert yet but slicing is the bane of my existence. I picked up a K1 Max and I love the printer overall but haven’t been able to figure out how to slice using the Creality slicer; e.g. the slicer freezes. I want to switch back to cura or any other slicer software but I don’t want to lose the functionality of high speed printing. Is this a sacrifice I have to live with if I print in any other filament/use any other slicer besides what Creality recommends? I hope this question makes sense…

    Now looking at your video again as I am in the market for either a P1s or a K1 max. I don't really need AMS as i paint stuff and the K1 max does look interesting to sit next to my N3 max. I saw so many bad reviews for the K1 so think i'll skip that hence the K1 max.

    Now that bambu revealed the A1 mini and ams lite, do you have any thoughts on that as first printer? The smaller bed size is the obvious potential downside, however given the overall bang for your buck, I'm curious if you think it's worth it even though it's on the smaller size. Any and all feedback is much appreciated.

    @g0d0fninjas90 Před 7 měsíci +1

    I want your take on this; when I get a 3D printer I'm planning on printing the free DO3D iron man suit you have myself. After looking, I really like the P1S with the AMS system as not only does it keep the filament dry, it also will auto-swap filament if a spool runs out mid-print, making printing just that much easier (also supports multi-colouring but not sure if I would use that often). The P1S + AMS comes to the same price as the k1 max in my currency.
    Would it be better to get the K1 max due to the build size (since you said iron man helmets would need a bigger size) or would it be best to just get the P1S + AMS, and just split the helmet in pieces to then fuse together?

    Great video. I am in that market for sure, ready to upgrade from my Ender 3. I need size, I want to print armor (or think I do anyway). I just can't decide...I know I need more build volume and I don't know if it is worth it to go K1MAX or another brand's bed slinger which is half the price for the same volume. Speed is not really my concern, and I typically stick with PLA...I would like the ability to print some outdoor type items, but I suppose I could convert my Ender for that stuff. I think my biggest hurdle is I don't know if the P1P is large enough for a helmet that would fit me. You have said you have a small head, and some of those spidey lidz were done on your P1P, but I think my head is bigger than yours (emptier, but larger).

      Bed stingers do take more tinkering for sure, I had pre ordered a neptune 4 max but just canceled it and ordered a k1 max just because as long as everything works the way it should it will be significantly less of a headache. I'll let you know how the k1max is once I get it.

  • @qwerfa
    @qwerfa Před 8 měsíci +12

    Hey, nice writeup. However, I want to point out that, the K1 has a significant advantage over the stock P1P in the materials it can print out of the box. It's also, been discounted with bundles at 499 fairly regularly, so it's often a fair bit cheaper. I do agree though, that when they are the same price, if you don't care about more specialized filaments, the P1P is the clear winner. I have a K1, and It sometimes feels just a bit too small.

      What laminator do you use? I don't like the default quality that Creality Print gives

    • @qwerfa
      @qwerfa Před 8 měsíci +3

      @TheCalaudio I use Orca Slicer, but out of the box, you won't get better quality/speed than with creality's slicer. But creality slicer prints really well in my experience. If the print quality is really bad, check your print head. If the clip for the bowden tube is blue, you have the old extruder, and if the sleeve on your hot end is black, the old hot end. Some people report significant under extrusion with those.

    Ran across the K1 Max video and now watching this, it’s really sold me to get it. My Ender 3 Max neo just isn’t cutting for speeds. I’m having to split a basic helmet into 4 parts and those parts are still taking upwards of 2+ days. Seeing how it can print an entire helmet in 20-25 hours blows my mind.
