Oh my goodness, this is the one I had! Truly one of the BEST THINGS from my childhood. It really interacted with the human mind, you would see these incredible characters fighting in the story, like when you read an awesome book. Much better than having to see it play out on a screen, you really lived the experience.

You won't believe this but a few hours before you release this video I was looking for CZcams reviews about this device. What a coincidence LOL

I had a Barcode Battler......I'd cut out the barcodes from all the food boxes to try on it....was fun

Thanks for the comment, can you tell me some more about your experience with this barcode battler ?
Did read you can connect it to the Nintendo Famicom console ?

@@WickedGamerCollector There was 1 released game for the Famicom which used the Barcode Battler II.
There were also about a dozen games released for the Super Famicom which had similar features, but most were programmed to either activate cheats or level select passwords.
The Tomy / Irwin release of the Barcode Battler had the same communication port as the Epoch Barcode Battler II, it just wasn't documented in the manuals.

Japan also had the Gameboy & Game Gear, yet the Barcode Battler (and it's sequels) sold relatively well compared to its performance in Europe because of differences in marketing and culture.

Begged my parents to buy me this and they never let me get it, probably for the best

I probably could have won one of these back in the day at the local Science Center. They had these on display and were having hourly duals, and if you won, you'd win a free Barcode Battler. I had found my own barcode that maxed out the stats for my made up character, and would have just crushed the opponent in a couple turns.

I remember the promo on TV of the bar code battle here in Italy when I was 6 yo. The promo encourages you to try different barcode of every product you have home, like box of biscuits, the label of a water bottle etc etc. Everything you got home with a barcode can be used and maybe you can find something really powerful

Yeah and the best barcode was the barcode batller's barcode

Now if you show me an Epoch Game Pocket Computer I’ll be more impressed. Rare and prob the first true Gameboy type console around.

Never seen something like this before...
Would be nice if you make a video of you whole collection only show what you have and how you store them... for example do you have them in a vitrin?

  • @anno5936
    @anno5936 Před 4 lety

Heck, yeah... i had one of these few sold in Europe.
Tried a couple of times, but it never took off. None the less, it was fun trying out different barcodes. Far as i remember, the cheap discounter chocolate was more powerfull than the top notch products... 😏

Very interesting! Reminds me of one type of digivice from Digimon which had a similar concept of sliding cards with barcodes into it, but this came over 10 years before that
