Ya I feel like the colors popped more because of it was actually bringing that foreground in more or maybe that lens had more of a contrast shade in it
Nice! Ill be getting one. #1:05 Looks like you use the two finger mounts that comes with the gopro - do you prefer those over the aftermarket fingers which adds 1/4 screw support? Im thinking it would be convinient to have 1/4 right in but it would also decrese air flow under the unit
That looked really cool. Must admit 1 week into having the Hero 10...it's a massive leap from the 3. A GoPro and an iPhone 12 or 13 is all you need. it's crazy to think that way.
@@DannyBlack They need a lot more lenses for these things. I know the hero 10 was just realized but they should make a tun for the hero 9. I don’t think people know how useful it is for lenses like those. Especially if you don’t wanna buy a $1200 camera.
Hi Danny. Which do you think is the better macro rendering tool? The Ulanzi WL-1 OR this 15X Macro filter? Also does the GP10 allow hypersmooth when the WL-1's on it? Thanks.
Hi, I just bought 1 for my GoPro 10. Is there any special setup for it? I was expecting to see the difference right away after replacing the original lens with this macro lens. But there's no difference at all. It's just the same as the original lens. Thanks for any suggestion.
Hi Danny I’m trying to decide if I’m gonna get the macro lens for my GoPro hero 10. Are use the Gopro mainly to record my son’s baseball games but when they’re out in the field it seems like they’re too far away do you have any suggestions thank you
I have one and still wish someone would make one that slips over the existing lens cover. I'm not a huge fan of taking the lens cover on and off all the time (exposure to dust and wear on the o-ring seal). The slip on style is great for popping on and off to get a variety of normal and macro shots.
I need this. I finally got me a hero 10 and was disappointed to find that up close, my 12mp iPhone 7+ took way more detailed pictures than my hero 10. But from a distance with light, the hero 10 is a beast
I have a "pixaero" macro lens on one of my H7s. It's a replacement lens with a focus ring from infinity to almost touching the lens. It is also rectilinear, so no fisheye - it can only be used in the "wide" menu setting.. It was NOT cheap. The camera is no longer waterproof. Also, hypersmooth doesn't know how to correct the rectilinear lens so it's all warpy.
Hi Danny - 2 things (one thing) will this lens, when attached to the 10, fit into the Gopro Dive housing? - (thing two) how are the stills using this lens? Do you have any still shots? Great video. Thank you for taking a look at this.
The macro lens does fit inside the dive housing, but it presses hard up against the dive housing's glass. I was afraid something would break, so I modified the dive housing by removing the black foam pads on the back door and also carving off the small bits that hold the foam pads. The lens still touches the dive housing glass, but it's not nearly as tight. I put some paper towel inside the housing to help it all sit in there well and it seems to work ok. I bet that after some time, one or both glass pieces may get scratched due to the contact. I have found that using the macro lens without the housing sometimes results in water getting inside the lens (between the macro lens and the camera's actual lens. I haven't gotten very good underwater results yet, but I'm still experimenting.
@@aaronwebster3014 I just happen to be on and read your response Aaron - thank you - we dive 60+ft most of the time so the housing is a must for me. I will just wait a bit - I bet a revision will be available at some point. Thank you again for sharing your experience.
Is this the 15x macro lens? As macro lenses also affect the maximum focus distance have you tried vlogging with it on the camera to see if you can get your face in focus bit with background bokeh?
I have tried this, and it needs to be to close for comfort to get it just right and not enough for your full head … so I wouldn’t recommend it for vlogging and that bokeh effect
Just received the Hero 10 few weeks ago. Used on a crime show. Worked well. How do you compose/play with the macro without "Live View" during record? Has anyone come up with a work around? I've read there is a lawsuit for the live view software.

Ya it almost made it sharper and popped a lot more. It looked more impressive while editing than I was expecting

No they weren’t . I think it made the foreground pop a lot more maybe because it was in focus
