Your reviews are so helpful!! Question... I want to record small concerts from a spectator POV, and I am considering getting the max lens, assuming I would get a wider view without having to mount the camera high. Which would be the best setting for this?

I was considering the Maz Lens Mod 2.0 for my underwater filming but it sounds like it's not really a good option. Cheers!
One simple question about the Lens mod 2. When you are filming in superwiev with the mod in 4k60 and stop recording and turn of the camera. Does it remember the settings to the next time or do I have to set it up again? Plan is to use it on my motorcycle as a fixed camera and don’t want to adjust settings every time?

Great video! I have a question about the aperture of the max lens mod 2.0. I'm planning to shoot some night sky timelapses, this would be great for it! Can you tell me what the aperture value of the mod is? So does it let in the same amount of light as the standard lens, more or less? Cheers!

What if I should pov soccer video in 1080 on the superview angle : will this lens make it wider similar to the hyper view? I need to upgrade my desktop cpu to handle 4k transfers. So for now , Im shooting in 1080 super view at 120 fps , I want to get it a little more fish eye if possible.

Have you experienced any fogging in the lens while filming?
I'm asking because i have 2 max lens (original ones) and they both fog sometimes while Paragliding..
I'm still looking around for solutions to this important issue..
I believe a nano coating could fix this, however, it had to be applied at production stage.

Can you film vertical video with the camera horizontal?
Yes, you can select the 9:16 aspect ratio and record 4k @ 60 FPS vertical videos with the camera horizontal. Loving the Max Lens Mod 2.0!

You mention the horizon lock crops in on the sensor. But it’s still shooting at 4K, so is there a difference in the image quality of 4K horizon lock vs 4k normal?

Hey, can you used the mx lens mod 2.0 without the built in wide angles? So the cameras angles and the mod just for the added stabilization?

Thank you for a very informative post, one important take away for me was “don’t use it underwater but use it in water” i would otherwise have used it snorkelling and probably been disappointed.
I got it and it's absolutely fantastic. Finally a super wide angle with horizon lock

I don’t have the lens mod but I found that the GoPro films just fine with no stabilization issues when filming in a car

Im not sure why but i onky have 2 lens options with theax 2.0. I get wide or max super view. How can i get the third option?
You must have the settings chosen for the Original Max Lens Mod. To change that, go into the Preferences Menu, under Mods, Tap on Max Lens Mod and select the Max Lens Mod 2.0. THat should take care of the problem and give you the full range of settings.
does max lens mod 2.0 works with floaty?

Thank you so much for subscribing and watching the video! That's a really tough question because each of these action cameras has their own perks, and then you have the 360 cameras, which offer something different. But, if I had to grab only one traditional action camera, it would be the Hero 12.

Is there any way to shoot in a linear mode with Max Lens Mod 2.0? I can't visually deal with the fisheye..
The Max Lens Mod is specifically designed for wide angle fisheye shots. If you don't like that look, you won't like this lens 😉

Do you think that I could use this lens for skydiving videography? I film tandems and I don’t want to put a stills camera on my helmet! I’d like to use my GoPro for stills but with a better lens.. so I was thinking about this mod
Yes, this would be great accessory for skydiving! That wide angle lens with horizon lock could really help create some amazing videos!
@@JordanHetrick I just wanna use it for photos…. Does the max lens work with Timelapse? Right now my GoPro 10 is set to Timelapse liner and it shoots every 0.5s. I just wanna know if it would work the same way and what happens to the quality of the photo as we charge a lot of money for tandem video and stills.
I own the 12 + lens mod 2.0 and it seems it's not possible to take complete advantage of GP-log when using the lens mod 2.0. Can you confirm this?
At the time I'm writing this comment, as a GoPro Hero 12 Black user with the Max Lens Mod 2.0, the Log and HDR options are no longer available.
Another thing that not many people have noticed is that the vertical 9:16 mode (when enable Max Lens Mod 2.0) only supports 8-bit instead of 10-bit.
Additionally, you'll lose the ability to output RAW for Max Photos, so you can only export JPEG.
The workaround for me is adjusting the color to 'flat', so at least it will not be too saturated like the usual GoPro look and will provide a bit of flexibility for grading according to your own preferences.
Does the 2.0 work on the previous gopro or not ?
Because the 1.0 is compatible with the Hero 12...
Hi, Yes, you could use the 2.0 on the 11, but there are no real benefits because the Hero 11 does not have the settings for the 2.0 version.
Does GoPro 12 have a zoom lens to bring images closer?
The Hero 12 Linear lens zooms in tighter. The Hero 12 also has touch zoom to manually zoom in further, but be careful with zooming in too far because the image quality will be affected.
Hello. I have max lens 2.0. There is a difference in quality between the 4k 60 images I took with the original hero12 lens and the 4k 60 images I took with the Max lens 2.0. The image is blurry with the Max lens 2.0, the focus is less, I get much better picture quality without the Max lens, is this normal?
Hi! Thanks for your input. I haven't noticed a reduction in image quality when using the Max Lens Mod 2.0. I'm not sure what would be causing that.
Can you still film in 4k 60 fps without the max lens mod 2.0 on the hero 12? Is the lens mod just for wide angle at 4k or is it required if you want true 4k 60 fps?
Yes, the Hero 12 can record in 4k or 5.3k @ 60 fps without the Max Lens Mod. The Max Lens Mod is only needed if you want to record extra wide angle shots, or if you want Horizon Lock with a wide angle lens. The Hero 12 has Horizon Lock built in, but it's only available with the Linear lens. I hope that helps!

Hi, No unfortunately the Max Lens Mod 2 is only compatible with the Hero 12.

Are gopro hero 12 have overheating issues like hero 11?
GoPro made a lot of changes to the Hero 12 to reduce overheating. In my real world use out in the world, I never have overheating issues.
But, if you were to set it flat on a desk or table in 80 degree heat at the highest video resolution (5.3k-60), it will overheat after about 17 minutes (from my tests).
However, if you are recording long stints with no airflow around the camera, reduce the resolution to 4k @ 30 FPS and it should last a really long time before overheating.

No, there aren't any zoom lenses that I've ever seen- just the built-in Touch Zoom feature. It would be great if they designed a zoom that that is compatible!

Yes, I'm so sorry I didn't mention that and thank you for bringing that up. HDR video is not available with the Max Lens Mod.
We bought the Mod 2.0 but regret it because we hate the fisheye display.
That is a bummer! Hopefully you can return it. I know some people don't like the fisheye effect, and this lens has a strong fisheye look to capture the extra wide angle.
Your presentation is not correct, you show us the settings for the normal lens and talk about 2.0. the 2.0 lens does not have HDR and in the video it appears......

Yes, the Hero 12 is waterproof. I do always rinse it in fresh water after going in the ocean though.

For certain scenarios, this lens mod allows you to capture scenes that are not possible without it. It is a bit pricey, but I'd say it's worth it if you need it.
