I was at a football match today. South Shields 5, Morpeth town 0. A lot of lads were singing 'everywhere we go....'. I knew I recognised the song. Next time I go I'll make sure they sing in tune!
@CaptainMadJackFlint Absolutely. We saw them a couple of nights before you did, in Winnipeg, as they moved west. Our third time seeing them, and I will go back again! Our daughter who has toured with them as a roadie, I guess, she sold mech at their shows in England, got us on to them.
@CaptainMadJackFlint And, the first time we saw them was at the Winnipeg Folk Festival about 10 years ago. The WFF is in a provincial park about 20 miles outside the city. No city around, no ambient lights, just the sky and the trees. They were the last act of the night, about 11:00 or so. It was dark with no moon, but the stars sparkled. The group came out and the first song they did - the first one we had ever heard live was "Bells of Rhymney". It was absolutely awesome in the darkness!!
@DadofVBG Their last American tour was in 1994. I saw them at The Middle East in Cambridge, MA. They played in the basement. Everyone was dancing along with them. Chopper looked like he had just jumped off a Harley. It's been hard for groups to tour here since 9/11 and, of course, the cost is high. An option for Americans is to see them in Canada.
What? Like they're going to die soon? If they did, they'd be buried standing and still playing at the shouting end of life. End of story, no debate. ;)
For many years one of my fav bands, i will never understood why they did not have more success.
They did have success , mean a lot to so many people

I love the long strummed violinists in this and the cello aswell. Its proper irish sounding.
They are very well known within the folk world but there are very few folk bands that are as widely known as pop or rock bands.
Mass appeal is no test of excellence. They have a discerning fan base.
wonderfull song
i love it
Greatest Band i ever seen !!!!!!!!!!
Somewhere i found a T-shirt of this band. Now, 3 years later I decided to find this band, and now I love this song. Great, great, great.
Excellent song!

Because people rely on that marked area on the radio waves this song rails against. Those of us who have found the unmarked grave know better. ;)
We were there!!!
