Ah I was hoping you were gonna fly a quad-AMB Afflictor super sniper. That's the ship that I have to stop myself from flying every single playthrough. It requires a lot of investment in a number of different skills to get the most out of it - in fact you might reasonably argue you need Phase Coil Tuning to even start, but man oh man is it fun to fly.
The nice thing about the academy missions is, except for the VIP transport ones, they don't have any expiration! You can just accept them all and let them sit forever until you happen to be in the area.
I do love me an Afflictor now and then, but the Phase Coil Tuning skill is too limiting (40 DP limit until reduced effect) that I tend to avoid it. I did do a phase-only playthrough just to try it out and had a build similar to what you suggested!
It is fun watching you outfit ships because I don't build ships like you do. Unless i am making a missile boat my lode-out is salamanders and pilums and the rest beams because an all tac laser afflictor are funny
All tac lasers on an afflictor? This is why I didn't hire you for technical engineer lead!!! :P
