After T1's 15-0 start with Faker looking in top tier form, I figured there is no better time to dive into this topic. Is Faker the real GOAT? (Yes). But why? What made Faker become the legend that he has? Why is Faker is the best league of legends player of all time, what did he do differently than others? This is a season 12 League of Legends documentary-style video.

@@maleappendage2564 I think it was a joke -_-
I believe there hasn't been and there will never be anyone more impactful to League of Legends than Faker. One day after he retires I hope Riot does something for him.
for some reason ur comment gave me chills, truly an amazing story

Bengi bro, faker didnt win anything witout him
@@mahatmaniggandhi2898 cringe but ok
@@brunodominguez2970 didnt win but still always on top 3, also SKT was being held back by bad players
Imagine T1 outdoing what they did in 2015? I thought SKT/T1 in 2015 was the most dominant and will never be matched again but somehow after all these years, Faker outdid himself.
They're so good this year
It also feels like other teams are doing really bad tho. Other teams changed most of their roster, unlike T1, which kept most of their players and have built their team synergy since last year. I'm just waiting for other teams to click in in summer tbh
Thing is, I'm pretty sure SKT 2015's record at Worlds will never be broken.
You can't expect any team to go undefeated like them.
I mean damwon did that in 2020 worlds when they were not even favorites and haven't won worlds as a region in 2 years, being placed as 3rd best region by many people, even behind eu (reasonable with how bad Korea was in 2018 and 2019, even 2020 wasn't what they used to be).
@@vuk5475 1. DWG were the favourites to win 2020 along with TES.(And were the clear favourites after groups)
2. In 2018, LCK was a one team region and got cucked a finals because their best team had to face the eventual World Champions in the Quarters.
3. 2019 EU was a one team region.(GRF lost because they had to put Chovy on tank duty because Sword is a useless piece of shit and T1 dominated Scrims but always underperformed on stage)
4. 2020 LCK got cucked again because the DRX had to face DWG so they just gave up and GenG had to play against Caps at 100%.(aka claps)
Btw: You remember people saying "Faker has fallen" and suff like this in 2k17?
That was when he won the lck split, won msi and only got 2nd in worlds.
If that is your "fall", you know what your peak was.
Great point! Ppl say the most stupid stuff. There r glorified players who havent even made to worlds semis like Clearlove, this dude still going to MSIs, getting to semis in worlds. Still getting insane plays on these tournaments - one of his best plays all time is vs g2 in 2019 msi(5man gnar ult as Sylas).
Faker's post 2017 career still is literally better than almost every player u can name of. Bdd, for example, or chovy, or clid. Doublelift, clearlove. Heck, one could argue his career post 2017 rivals gorillas entire career. But he has set The bar so high for himself that anything but reaching finals is the same as not even going to worlds(apparently)
Not only that, but his 5x Galio performance in the semifinals is legendary.
The same year where Riot introduced the Ardent Censer meta and made every role not named ADC irrelevant. And Faker managed to drag 3 corpses and a half-dead Huni to the Finals. Imagine of that year was a midlane focused meta.
@@lordpaulphilippfernandez9904
That's why a lot of people consider Score to be the best jungler of all time.
He dragged his dead teammate corpses to so many finals and semi finals, while jungle wasnt considered strong. And he did that while playing a supportive jungle style, no carry picks, etc.
The problem with faker is that, he's so fucking amazing at the game, that whenever he does one missplay or anything, everyone goes " Faker lost it ! "
You're right. The expectations are as high as possible. People don't understand that even GOATs cannot necessarily play at their peak every single game.
@@Exil22 Isnt that what we call being a " human being " ? xD
Yea its hilarious. We get so used to the carry-mode that anything less is "failure". Kind of crazy. Faker is a god.
And yet, years later he's stomping LCK undefeated it really makes you think he's in a whole other level of his own
@@professeurmythologeek7695 he aint to human hes a goat
The zed v zed outplay included so many mind games, that both shens forgot their ult. Always found it funny.
from the short documentary that LCK made, Ryu told his Shen to not ult that time because he was confident that he can kill the low HP Faker. I wonder if Faker also told the same to his Shen
@@bonbibonkerz As far as im concerned, it was only mentioned from Ryu. Also saw that clip of him discussing it. Well never went out of my way to research it myself. Still a complete blunder but worth it for the highlights. Certainly hooked me into the game.
People always talk about the Shen ults being up like the rest of the teams weren't doing a 4v4 skirmish like 10 meters away. You don't just ult your teammate whenever they get low when there's enemies right in your face. Nor does it make sense for either Shen to ult the Zeds to turn the 1v1 even if was safe to ult, it's far more important to save it for your adc when a game-deciding teamfight is about to break out.
@@ianunderwood1678 The biggest danger to the adc would be precisely the assassin zed. As for the skirmish, it only truly begun and ended after the death of the zed if i remember the clip correctly. So there was a fair amount of leeway for both teams.
We can't know the outcome of the game nor what would happen if either team decided to ult, since neither actually did. But the possibility to keep them alive was definitely there. Especially considering the fight itself was fairy long. Would the result have been different? I doubt it.
All that said, i believe you missed the point of my original comment considering it itself was meant to be a joke.
@@bonbibonkerz Fakers shen provably though he was a dean man and decided to save his ult for a later bigger play
I love that you showed Boxbox and Scarra. That made my heart melt my guy.
Faker will always be the goat for me! The man is the reason i watch and play league.

18-0…
In my country, any amazing outplay is called "faker". thats how popular faker is for League players in my country
19:19 another thing that makes that play so insane is that there's no possible way he could have practised for that. Ranked never gets blind pick. Faker would've never had an opportunity ever before to have zed verse zed. It's not like it was Zed vs Orianna which he'd played literally hundreds of hours of in the past. This was probably his ONLY and first time playing that match up...and that's what he did. I watched it live and when I saw it I knew that this guy was truly special
Faker's reason to play ranked match is because he couldn't find match in normal anymore. It took too long to find match in normal mode that he first pick up ranked. He is the god of blind pick
That last part with the article about him coming with another revolutionary pick and setting a new record gave me the chills.
Not gonna lie, I had tears coming up at some scenes, especially the Faker vs Ryu and the Faker Riven stuff. Such iconic moments, moments that changed everything back at the time.
Don’t worry, Ryu gets tears every time he sees that play as well.

For a long time I didn't know Faker was a person, and just thought that it was a term to refer to someone who either outplayed you in ways that seemed "fake", or that "faked" their plays to lure you.
Fake in a hat
Amazing work as always. Video gave me chills! Loved the Gretzky references too, I really love that you brought up the assists/team play of both players.
He really is no doubt, the best player ever. Even on local and international, pro play and solo queue he is always not gonna be unmentioned when it comes to "Who's the Best Player ever in LoL?" That man, is truly the Best and no ome could ever top his impact to the game. Gl to the team this year, hope they win worlds. (Basically he's creating and cultivating the T1 squad to his own and passing his knowledge to them.)
I still remember started playing when TPA won ss2 and ss3 was the year of the Faker
What an absolute blast growing with game having such a god as Faker in it
Another incredibly well made video, amazing work
"...than Faker could ever even imagine himself being. And I think that's the sign of a true selfless humble god that we don't even deserve." And the tears just started falling ❤

Tyler's story needs it's own anime produced by Toei Animation.
As a long time TF main, I've always looked up to Faker too (not just Dopa). People forget just how insanely good Faker is at TF because of how incredible his macro and teamwork is. I remember when Faker was curb-stomping solo queue with the Jepsu build.
It's always a treat to see Faker gap the enemy team with one of the simplest champions in the game.
Sometimes people seem to forget that Faker has a champion pool that is about as big as the area of Russia and Canada combined.

Really well made video, awesome job!
Was just looking for a new video of yours yestetday, then got this notification this morning. Nice 👌🏼
I knew of Faker before I even knew what kind of game League of Legends was. For me, Faker is synonymous with League of Legends.
In a Conversation of GOAT I look at these questions.
They're Significance
Influence from the Game
Accolades
And Impact.
And Faker literally tops all of those off. He is the Michael Jordan with LeBron James Longevity.
Who also succeeded in his rookie season...
Faker is so similar to Tom Brady to me from a casual football watcher, he's been in for so long and his motivation to succeed eclipses everybody. 95% of people would have taken the TSM deal that was rumored, and he stayed with T1 to win. The mechanics and all is there without a doubt but it's his drive to succeed even when his team was star studded that separates him from anyone.
Agreed, couldn't have said it better
A team in lpl even offered him a blank check and he still stayed at t1
Been waiting for so long for a new one keep up the goodwork man! :)
Awesome video! Keep them coming so I can keep liking them!
I subconciously did something for quite some time, yet noticed it on this video. Usually i have CZcams-content running on my 2nd screen all day, not really paying attention though.
if your videos pop up, i take a break, sit down on my bed and fully focus on them.
Kudos, you made it.
Faker, is the Michael jordan of league of legends.
What if all along... Michael Jordan was just the Faker of Basketball?
Yo another great video man, much love exil. Thanks for all the amazing content you make!
I gotta say man wow this was a greate job nicely done u are legit a fan and lover of this game a plesure watching you do this keep on going
You're videos are so good man. Thank you.
Damn, shots fired @doublelift 26:15
I love watching your documentaries it's what got me into league. Jihn doco was by far my most favorite
Wonderful video :) These sorts of discussions and documentaries are important for esports, because they create weight for the games. They make it go from "just a game/series/tournament" into being part of the game's history.
Video suggestions:
I would love an analysis of what Hylissang is doing so well to be so highly respected in the community. Could ask pro players and analysts to dissect his craziness.
Another idea would be to analyze Europe's peak (2018 world finals, 2019 MSI win, 2019 world finals). How did it happen, what made those teams good enough to compete at that level... And so on.
Take care!
Fun fact:
In the Faker vs Ryu clip, both teams had a shen and both Shens had their ult.
Gotta respect the 1v1 tho
Ryu was so confident that he could kill Faker, he told his Shen to not ult him, he said so in the short documentary made by LCK. I wonder if Faker also said the same to his Shen
it's gentleman agreement. Come 1v1 me bro 😄
I simply cannot understand why I get so excited to watch these videos. Today new peaky blinders and walking dead episode aired, and I haven't watched yesterday's AOT, and somehow I put this above. Props
The thing is I don't play LoL for 5 years, I'm not even sure I like it, but it seems this dude makes it fascinating to my brain
Amazing Video! My attention is captured and I'm very satisfied!
Faker is so good that when he's not constantly outplaying his opponents or 1v9ing every game, people are quick to call him washed and not good anymore.
Even this split when they go 16-0, go watch some games they lost and some people still called him trash, overrated etc...
Undefeated in the LCK right now and locked in finals.
Good god T1 is so strong.
I remember watching "Best plays ever" videos when I started playing league, and he was always there at the top, and probably never leave
another great league cinematic video
thanks
Another per usual banger from THAT GUY! Love to see ur vids man, all love.

Respect for calling it football and not soccer and calling your sport American football 👌
Technically the British are to blame for the term "soccer" and not Americans but yes you are welcome!
Soccer as a term comes from "association football" and was invented by the British

Excellent Video, I got tears in my Eyes. My Hero
As a top/supp player started from S6, theshy and uzi are the real GOAT for me. TheShy's lane domination is straight up bullying. Ive never seen a top laner so ruthless in laning, and plays a bigger role than ADC is an ADC meta.
in 20+ years of following/playing competitive games, "Barcode Killer" is still the coldest, hardest name i've ever seen
The thumbnail is a masterpiece
Consistency, Longevity, Influence!!! He has all 3!! that's why he's the GOAT!!!
Rabadon's Deathcap first is plausibly optimal. This was OG League, with pregame runes that just gave stats, meaning that you could start the game with 36.542 AP (25.56 without marks/seals) and Deathcap gave either 25% or 30% AP. That brings AP total on first item to 195.68 or 203.50 (depending on whether it was after start of season 3).
For a champ like Nidalee that only did one thing (as ap nid, tri-force nid top will forever be my favorite) and that was poke. Her ap ratios were ludicrous: spear q had 65% ap scaling compared to 50% today, and e had an 80%!!!! scaling on heal compared to a scaling 27.5%-55% today (based on missing health).
TL;DR: Mathematically correct Nidalee may have been Rabadon's first for that draft.
I love the Halo music @1:22 😍
Faker is the goat and i dont think its close. His consistency over 10 years is insane, and though he may not be the flashiest player, and though he isnt the main carry every game, his leadership/shot calling and game knowledge is what separates him from every midlaner in the world. Rookie, knight, showmaker, and chovy maybe flashier, but fakers sense of macro is leagues about them. What makes it even crazier is that he also just wont lose to any of these midlaners and pretty much just makes sure they dont carry, while making sure his other lanes get ahead.
The Old School Runescape tunes hit different and add a nice touch of nostalgia.
Obviously due to time you cant make a 4h video - but still you touched beautifully on the key aspects:
Trophys, longefety, peak performances, broad skill set, mindset, respect by others, innovation, general impact in the game
Faker is unmatched in all of these things, and you could spend hours talking about each of these, especially with his nearly 10 year old career - but yeah great video
had me in the first half with the title and these cheesy questions if somebody else would be the GOAT but hey ;) anyway thanks for the great 28min, stay well!
As a sona main who has been playing since season 2 and mained sona since 3, that clip was super nostalgic for reasons completely unrelated to Faker lmao.
Btw Faker also very charming as a person and cool streamer! I love to watch him play other games, it's very interesting and enjoyable
not from his POV , it makes me dizzy.
Knowing that Dopa is so humble made me enjoy the guy more
Welcome back mr Exil
Damn that Halo music caught me off guard, thought my Xbox had accidentally turned on or something
seeing his support mid plays and knowledge and wisdom only increases with age, i think he wont retire. He will find a new tech keeping him in the game. I tihnk of him as the jaromir Jagr on NHL. THE AGELESS WONDER
