Today, let's talk about a league of legends champions that have a very interesting history, Dr. Mundo, Shyvana, Renekton, Jax, Master Yi, and Tryndamere . Even though they have been broken and an op champion for season 10 to climb ranked, in the past these stat stick champions in league of legends were even stronger. Let's take a look in todays league of legends documentary, about the history of the stat stick genre of champions in league of legends.

Man I remember in season 2 a Nautilus player had to leave the game and we were already losing the game. So the Nautilus bought all the wards he could get by selling the items he already bought and just warded the entire jungle(even the enemy's). He wished us good luck and left but after that the game was 4v5 but we ended up winning because Good Guy Nautilus gave us the strategic advantage of lighting up the entire jungle for us to see.
Ahhh good times.

I literally did that as well. I remember clearly I played Vayne bot and started to feed really bad. So I quietly removed myself from the game by building full tank, farming alone and buying wards while my team carried and I stopped dying and feeding.

most of the viable tanks now: does damage
some don't outdamage you, they outtank you, let that sink.

Yeah, Chris, but then you have fucking Poppy who lives under tower for the first 20 minutes, and it's not until she builds Sunfire, boots, and Warmogs that she can out damage a fucking Mundo main. I know, because I've played Poppy quite a lot. She's so incredibly late game it's stupid. Like, why does she need a SECOND rework that involves giving her something that actually hurts? She uses a fucking HAMMER, she should be big dick damage by default. But I get it, she has utility. ...that's why the best role for her is jungler now even though 90% play her top lane, because her jungle clear is ridiculously slow too.
It's just absurd how fast the meta has shifted with champs like Yasuo and gun bishi. If your champ isn't at least landing in the A tier of the meta expect to get stomped pretty frequently. It really shows when the last Challenger Poppy I saw ran jungle and went like 8/4, and the last Poppy in top I saw was a Diamond who did 9/3 by being a hard counter. The difference between a challenger and a Diamond was 1/1. A KOREAN Challenger I might add, and an NA Diamond, for all of your "Korean Bronze is NA Challenger" memes. It's stupid, dude. A lot of tanks out tank and out damage, while the ones that can out tank can't out tank other tanks because of their damage.

Yeah I was about a year and a half in League when they released Volibear lol

"If you kite them you win."
I mean, like, all melee tank/bruisers are like that.
and whats wrong with that? its a simple problem, why cant it have a simple solution? or just let it be a weakness?
@@theX24968Zbecause now adc's go top lane and destroy everyone that is melee... crazy right
the problem isnt that this is the case, the problem is this is the ONLY interaction you can have with these champs: kite them = always win, dont = always lose. Theres no actual gameplay there, no real counter activity to engage in. It's clear cut win or lose dependent solely on ONE thing.
That's just poor design, as is the current development cycle of "every ability does 3 things, all champions are overloaded"
@@pokerusfreak8194 whats wrong with having someone based on being good at one thing? its a simple straightforward plan, and it makes your ability to play them consistent and reliable.
@@pokerusfreak8194 it's not like you just press a button and kite them. You're making it seem like there's no skill involved in playing as or playing against any of these champs. Yes the play itself is simpler than others but not every champ needs to be complicated. The kiting is part of the real gameplay. Having some simpler champions is good for new players and people learning new roles. If they're going to make such giant changes to a champ and completely rework them like Aatrox why not change it a little more and just make a new champ, add even more to the game without ruining it for the people that like the original champ.
I cant imagine volibear having stealth, 3 dashes, 4 weapons, a mobility passive and needing 400 IQ to play
Riot reaves confirmed volibear with t ability key that changes the whole qwer abilities to a thundery one. Also gives passive for each ability that synergizes with itself. Riot reaves also mentioned you need to play a mini game similar to geometry dash to perfectly time your instant riven w fear just to make it balanced.
@@paulgalindez9739 XDDD
i would main the living shit out of the stealth-volibear XDD
if you really play those champions you will see that they're easy as fuck to play btw...League is not a hard game with 20-30 games with one champion you is just fine to go...
We can't imagine, but Riot can imagine it and there you go, Voli with all of those abilitys
A thing that he didn't say about the "glory days" is that Shyvana, mundo and trundle were viable picks because they were the only ones that could survive against renekton.
The top meta at the time was "can he fight renekton?" and for a very long time most champions had to answer "no".
And basically for a long time it was JUST the Renekton/Shyvana/Mundo triad. IIRC it was only later in the season when a pro player (I think it was Soaz, correct if I'm wrong) introduced Trundle as a counter to the tank meta (since he would just ult the enemy team's tank and become unkillable himself) that other team's started to consider Trundle as a pick.
@@derby234able i feel this so much, thats why i liked trundle
curse those bruiser/tank mains
ahh the good ol renekton bar
It's not so true. Olaf was the best toplaner in early season 3. U just build tank items with CDR + shurelia and GGWP. he could literally run down on a carry giving a shit against fed karthus. Jax was a good toplaner back in the day as well, dealt easily with trundle and shyv.
@@redneckfromhell9514 Fair, but you said the keyword yourself: early season 3. After that he got nerfed to oblivion and shoehorned to jungle, and even then he's not as strong anymore. The glory days (specifically in this video) is mid season 3 to late season 4, and olaf while can be good at times definitely not up there with the big 4.
Jax while do deal with Shyv or Trundle definitely did not deal Renekton or Mundo that well. Back then Renekton stomps him so hard early game he just cant buy his items and Mundo scales the tank items way better than Jax does.

Just punish people for one trucking by reducing LP gain if you play one champ over X amount of games
@@Thegoldenwatermelon The problem with that is that it punishes meta players too. If X champion is strong, then people will play them simply because they're strong and gives them the best chance to win. That's typically how high elo works, you play meta and get good with meta. When the meta rotates, so do you.

Stop being a whimp.
Stat stick champs need to stay. As annoying as they may be, if I started league and didn’t use old chogath, kayle, and Annie as my main champs... I probably would have quit the game. New players NEED these easy to pick up champs to help them get a grasp at learning this challenging game. If a new player try’s to learn a champ like yasuo, riven, or zed, they may have a bad experience and give up.
Honestly there are many champions that aren't that hard to learn but still not as obnoxious as volibear or garen: malz, anivia, morg, blitzcrank, ahri, alistar, ashe, brand, corki, galio and on and on...
Is olaf a stat stick? As a top laner
Pururu puru riven is known in almost every champion skill list as being the single most difficult champion to master in the game. Unless you have at least a hundred hours on her, your win rate is very bad. Yasuo is usually ranked somewhere in the top 5 because he has so many mechanical intricacies that make him hard to master as well. I would not say it’s easy to do well in low elo with these champs because 9 times out of 10 I see them feed there asses off
bbb yes I would say Olaf is a stat stick but it is kinda important to land your q. His kit is simple enough that he can just sit there and auto you with life steal and out stat you to death
The Pantheon rework is a great example of the middle ground riot is plenty aware of. He is straight forward and a new player can still definitely have a great time with Pantheon, but he also has some depth and isnt as braindead as the true star sticks, same with the very well done Mordekaiser rework.
Lmfao "Trynd and Mundo don't have counterplay that's why we're reworking them" *looks at Kai'sa and Akali*
Looking at vayne and zoe
Yea but these champs are about just pressing e every 2 seconds and right clicking on the person you want to kill with no actual mechanics involved while akali and kaisa usually require you to do more than that even tho they are broken and most players cant utilize those champs to the fullest and if you can thats when they become truly broken and thats when they become a problem, but that doesnt happen in your plat games where nobody knows how to actually play akali or kaisa or irelia and so on
@@jagosvujovic2086 Kai'sa is hands down the easiest adc there is, not because of her micro, which does have some dephth but because of her makro play. Even the worst adc player will easily be able to pick up Kai'sa because her kit is so overloaded with utility that you don't even have to position yourself well or know how to kite.
@@newtypeinstinct4294 yea that kinda true because you have to realize kaisa has one of the lowest if not the lowest aa range out of all adcs and playing kaisa involves a lot more kiting than usual which you do need decent mechanics for but shes nothing insane mechanically that is true
Cait or xayah for an example are a lot more brain damaged than kaisa especially cait but they do have a lot less mobility and kaisa having invisibility as well as insane mobility and a shield is definitely retarded and shouldnt be in the game tho and she can also build zhonyas and banshees too which is insanely dumb
10:08 “this item gave you mundos pasive for free”

I feel like the kayle rework is the same way. Sure your q is now a skill shot, your ult doesn’t let you attack so u have to pick and choose when to use, but even before and after the 16 true dmg nerf, she’s basically a stat stick champion
@@duc2133 I personally hate the Kayle rework.
Yep, I hate dodging every Q as Aatrox against a non fed Mord and still dying cuz of his passive damage being OP, his AAs dealing too much damage and him being tanky for no reason.
It really is laughable how the old Mord was more fun and had more counterplay. He still wasn't healthy but how can you be so bad at designing kits that you rework an old champion because he's unhealthy and he ends up being even more unhealthy after the rework. Damn I miss the old Mord.
6:43 That soraka splash still gives me nightmares..
The fact that these champions can just walk towards you and kill you with their stats is not the problem in itself, but they can't do anything else. Simple mages like Morgana and Anivia can be played by spamming their Q untill it hits someone, but it's not everything they are able to do, for example Morgana can save lives with dark shield and her ultimate is great in team fights. Champions don't need to be complex and hard, they need a little flexibility
*"they need a little flexibility"*
Good thing Riot doesn't enforce metas and pidgeonhole champions into specific roles.

My philosophy on stat-stick champs is that they should naturally have a little bit more stats than skill based champions, but skill based champs should be able to outplay them making skill based champs better in higher elos of play. Max health damage on tanks and percentage true damage on auto attacks is still bullshit though.

The sad thing is that stat sticks are inherently far healthier for the game as they force you to actually play the game properly. Go for objectives, engage at oppertune moments, make a sensible build, pay attention to where the opponent is, harras appropriatly, set up engagements etc. The current overloaded designs however, don't care. Who cares about engaging at an oppertune moment if you can just towerdive, get the kill & get out in the span of 0.5 seconds without getting hit by anything? Who cares about using a proper build when you can go full AD and rely on a on random overloaded defensive ability in your otherwise fully offensive kit, or something like steraks to give your class canon a weirdly large shield, and some lifesteal to survive close to everything? Who cares about carefully trading blows when you have 50 dashes and are can dash in and out of combat without a care in the world cuz your impossible to hit? Who cares about grouping up when you can accidently solo the entire team? Hell, who cares about playing safe and not feeding if you can rely on your 0/10/0 powerspike to eventually pull you out of it cuz your kit is so overloaded you're eventually going to get some kills on accident and snowball from there?
Amen
Sounds like Senna
Absolutely agree with this comment. It says everything I wanted to say.
God bless your soul. This meta makes it ridiculously challenging to learn new champions. If they have a hypercarry that can have global presence, dashes, shields, massive nukes with built in sustain, and that champ gets fed the game is over. The game takes far too much commitment to understand even the kits, so how are we going to expand our champion pool? Year in and year out I start playing again and just have to stop because even with a positive win rate cancerous champions shoot my blood pressure through the roof.
oh yeah? like who?
Stat check champions allow for casual players to express their skill through strategy rather than mechanics.
I play usually 2 games per week. I don’t keep up with new champs, stopped reading patch notes a couple years ago, but still have a good understanding of rotations, when to fight, and objectives.
Playing champs like yi mundo jax and voli allow me to have fun with the game. I don’t want the pressure of landing an Elise cocoon on a gank and then playing warding gank bot. I don’t want to have to land every ability when I’m out of practice.
The reality is 75% of players are gold and under. We just want to have fun, and a stat stick allows us to win through the game knowledge we’ve built up.
champion play rates show that most players prefer champs with engaging kits even in bronze although i see where you are coming from
Bless `ya... This is what a bunch of wannabe-pros who troll, blame, report, abuse anyone who does not follow do not understand. Game is for fun, first and most. Want to play Meta, want to be up-to-date, want to adjust to every single patch, try every new champ? Free to do so. Just leave others be and enjoy their game as they like it. There is room for everyone
I agree but I will go even further. I climbed to diamond playing stat sticks. All my edge over other people was my game vision, shot calling and utility bringed to the team. In the current game I would have a hard time climbing back. They are basically suppressing an entire play style, rework after rework. It makes the game poorer paradoxically.
@@goldehammergaming I get the feeling that they play those kits because they see how effective higher skilled players are with them and aspire to play like that. With highly mixed results.

I absolutely love these videos.
The saddest part about them all is that I've been through almost every stage of this game. And to have nostalgic feelings for it sinks in that... I'm old...
And these vids just give me the feels haha. Never though league would be that to me.
Being old is a good thing
Man, I remember playing Warwick back in the day (using GuardsmanBob's build for him. Called 'Bobwick'). The most fun games I've played were the ones with that as well as old Jax (hp on passive, etc.)
They may not be fun and engaging... But they are good for learning macro play, in my experience. If you're not so focused on pulling off your 150 different 'mechanics', you can focus on what's going on in the game. You can check bot, you can check mid. Look for ganks. Look to invade.
If you don't need to worry about combos and all kinds of other nonsense, you can learn to work the macro, as 'mechanic'-heavy champs tend to reward good micro.
MrJinglejanglejingle that’s the difference between simple and stat checks. Sett is fairly simple to learn and execute for example. Simple champs are going to be less versatile and swing harder with matchup strength (either really good or really bad). I think the line between simple and stat check is a difficult one, but you could argue the answer is to shut them down.
This is where the design of league fails. No denies, no gold loss on death, no buyback to sink gold. Stat check champs are a ticking time bomb and yes you can kill them to take them off the board but that gold marches ever forward. Stat checks are only a problem because counters don’t exist (well Mundo can get healing cut). Like most issues with league it’s the core gameplay that ends up being the problem and the design philosophy backing it.
@@OpiatesAndTits stat check champions never work well, because their nature is binary. they win or they lose.

I unironically love playing stat stick characters. And maybe it's because of their simplicity. I come from being an ADC main, and transitioned into being a top/mid lane main. My instinct is to use my auto attacks to deal damage, and I feel extremely uncomfortable on most mages, or things like Riven. But when I pulled out old Aatrox (RIP) it was genuinely so insanely fun because of how well he complimented the ways that I play. I can say the same of pre-rework Volibear. I feel insanely comfortable on those champions because it's just what I like to do combined with a tanky booty that just won't quit. And Riot seems to want to remove the things I like from the game.

I really like stat sticks. Some of my fondest memories from when I first started playing league was managing to beat stat stick champs when they get ahead with the best coordination me and my friends had. I remember this one game where this master yi was like 16/2 or something and was just one tapping everyone on our team, but we all grouped mid and one of my friends would ult the yi with malzahar while I tanked the Yi’s Q (I was a darius one trick) and we pulled off two incredible teamfights and won despite being behind. Ahh blind pick...
Only Ad Carry's are allowed to be stat sticks. No one else...... ( Sarcasm ).
ADC is probably the best understood form of stat sticks contributing something to the game. They are heroes with a very straight forward scaling, that adds to strategy and playing the game at a 5v5 level, rather than looking at the complexity of heroes in a vacuum 1v1.
Still, stat sticks need to have their balance looked at carefully, and could all use at least one ability that's a skill shot or anything that benefits from good timing and decision making. Because of straight forward scaling, stat sticks can very easily become 100% irrelevant compared to other champs filling the same niche, and the meta becomes stale if there are few options for counterplay.
I'd argue that makes sense, considering how squishy ADCS are and how useless they can be in fights if they are taken out by literally anyone on the enemy team.
If any 'class' has a right to be a stat stick it's the ADC because it's literally their job to close out games, and that's traded off by them being squishy.
But it looks like they're not even safe, given the recent releases, looking at kai'sa, aphelios and [although intended to be a support] senna.

IMO riot don't want to just remove simple champs that don't need that much of a skill. And new champ Sett kinda proves this point. He's not that much of a stat stick but his kit is still rather simple and straightforward with no need to have 1kk apm in order to be useful in game. The problem with stat sticks is that they're rather difficult to balance for both high and low elo at the same time and that they're just borring to fight againts. As you said in the vid, its either you have enough stats to survive theit attack or you don't with little to no outplay potential. That's why I think that reworking such champions into what's closer to the new riot design philosophy is actually good idea, although I'd definitelly prefer if they kept 1 or 2 of them as they're now, just to have good old simple mundo game now and then.

I think the extinction of the stat stick champions is why no matter how much I get tempted to reopen league and try to get back into it after pouring so much time and energy into this game for several years, I know that I probably shouldn't bother. These are the types of characters that I enjoyed and where i found success, and these were also the type of items I tended to love building. I was very attracted to the low risk nature of these champions and kits, and that a character who seemed a bit underwhelming and unheralded at first glance could secretly be an OP team saving behemoth if you put in the work to really look carefully into it's abilities and had a strong deep knowledge of the game to build optimally. I especially loved stat stick tanks and supports who were so effective at what they did behind the scenes that many times not even my own team could tell. I enjoyed the security of knowing that even as a player who is rather mechanically poor I could be an asset that helps my team win pretty much no matter what. I absolutely loved planting myself right on the ADC in the late game and watching him go to town thanks to my giant stacks of ally boosting auras and easy, fail proof CC. Even when he had no idea that *i* was the biggest reason why he was melting everyone's faces off. Or perhaps it was *especially* gratifying to me to think that he didn't know, and thought it was all just him being awesome at this game. I loved lighting up the entire jungle with wards while the enemy team had almost none and seeing all their attempts at an ambush collapse into disaster. Other players may have been more skilled then me, had better reflexes, made better snap decisions, and most likely could wipe the floor with me in pretty much any other online multiplayer game. But in this game, with nothing more then knowledge, careful positioning, the right attitude, and a team first mentality I could compete against them and be an asset to my team instead of an anchor and give us a shot to beat the stuffing out of them anyway. Every. Single. Game. Especially in a solo que environment where unselfish players were quite rare, it could really make you feel a bit special in a weird sort of way.
When Taric was reworked I was actually pretty devestated and I couldn't quite put my finger on why until now. Taric may have been the perfect representation of what I liked best about this game and the type of champions I was drawn to. His new boom or bust ultimate was something I just couldn't get over, probably because it was riot stating it's intentions very loud and clear that they would not abide these simple, fail-proof, subtly OP designs anymore. I wouldn't get to sit in smug superiority at the idea that I'm the only one who understands how Trundle's ultimate works and why I'm winning every duel, or how useful my shatter is making things for our team's rapidly more fed ADC. Or how I was warding harder then the opposing support who got stuck with the role out of necessity instead of volunteering for it. Or enjoy the security of knowing it would be really really hard for me to, personally, screw up my champion's abilities and ruin my team's chances in a critical fight. I was honestly a scrub that found a way to be useful, and maybe even be the difference maker in a match. I admit it doesn't make for very good viewing for esports, and at the highest levels of the game, where everyone has the same insane level of mechanical ability it can be a bit lame to waste a player's talents on such a seemingly dull and ordinary champion like Taric or Dr. Mundo, which they really only pick because of how useful to a team they can be. But without these kinds of characters, a scrub can only be a scrub. I can't help but feel that's a bit of a shame, it was really neat that this was a game where there was more then one way to be successful. I miss league because when I do watch it I think it still looks really fun but I also can't help but feel it's a game that's passed me by and is no longer suited to the type of playstyle I want to have.
The taric rework and crushed my soul. Akali was my number one. Taric was my number 2.
My first time into platinum taric was one of my matches and I carried hard with him as support. I actually got first blood under tower and snowballed the game. He made my series succeed.
I'm with you bro. Not interested in leagues direction. I'm an old diamond statstick main. Apparently I'm unwanted so I just play with friends and help them climb to gold or Plat.
Just wait for league classic it's inevitable
I hear you loud and clear... I had a ton of champs get horrible reworks. This is including the support Taric, soraka, kayle(yes support-kayle, It was absolutely incredible), and janna who I believe was the least changed so far. In the end I was maining kayle and janna and (can't believe it myself) Jungle Shaco. I quit out of frustration when I saw that every single new champ coming out was some sort of AD Nuke which somehow burst just as hard as veigar... and all my go-to champs shrunk from around 20 down to about 3. Simply because I hated all reworked champs because they did not play my playstyle. Over half a decade of playing right down the tubes! I might as well have never started it in the first place!
In other words You are NOT the only one who feels this way!
maybe the problem about my computer isnt because of the wifi but rather the size of this comment
Yea I'm quite unhappy myself. I just came back to league after years of absence and found most of my favourite champions reworked. At first I was excited but after trying out Irelia, Akali, Fiora, Graves, Mordekaiser, Pantheon and Talon, I've found none of them feel even remotely the same. Some of the changes have been nice and needed, sure, but most of them feel like consistency and skill floor nerfs rather than anything else. Why does everything need to be turned into a skillshot? Where is the build variety? I remember Irelia used to be able to build attack speed exclusively first 15 minutes of the game and still hard carry with maxing the true damage blade skill. Or go Triforce, or tanky, or whatever the situation called for. And now that I've finally settled on playing nocturne jungle due to his straightforward kit, I find out they're reworking him too. God damn it Riot, not everyone playing your game has hours upon hours just to practice mechanics. If I get a 6 kill lead I wanna tear the enemy jungler apart. I don't want to have to "outplay" him. He is the one who is behind, right? It shouldn't fall upon me to demonstrate superior microplay when I've already demonstrated superior macro. I've even heard rumours of Yi getting a rework (think it was mentioned in the vid too). What's wrong with non-adc auto-attack based champions? If I'm fed I wanna scale too. I love playing Elise, but when I have a huge lead on her (let's say 10+ kills), it just means I get to one-shot an enemy faster, it doesn't mean I can 1v3 them. On Yi or Nocturne however, I might be able to, depending on who those enemies are. But those champions are apparently getting reworked soon. And so is Tryndamere and soon all the auto-attack melees will be gone because they don't need to land 3 skill shots and make all the spectators moist when somebody does it in a tournament.
Yo, I love these videos; they really give some insight onto League's history and I always enjoy knowing more about games I play! Another so fast! You do some great work, man!
All I know is that these new champs are too overloaded and are unhealthy for the game. Alot of them have very high ban rates tbh its just adding more randomness to the game like with aphelios having different weapon combos and shit. They should go back to champions that had a certain play style unlike aphelios which feels like abit of everything being able to root, do aoe damage, and poke is really annoying and not what is want in the game. I think sett has one of the least loaded kit compared to the other new champs and feels better to play and to play against. Which is funny because sett is kinda a stat champ he has built in health regen and percent health damage but still has intresting mechanics. I hope more champs are like him in the future.
Yeah I agree with you too I just wanna go back to the old days of league than the new league of legends now.
People dont like to die vs stat check champs but whats even worse are overloaded champs that disrupt the normal pattern of the game. Yes a mundo who is lvl 16 with 4 items should be able to kill you, are you mad because he right clicked you and pressed q. Too bad. I am mad when akali walks into top lane and she auto wins every lane phase vs all bruisers and tanks and I cant use 80% of my kit because she can go stealth, dictate the trades with her mobility and when I do catch her she out trades me anyway. Are you mad Darius 1v2'd your top and jg, HEY! maybe the lanner should not have given him free 5 stack and the jg should not get hit by darius Q with his lanner. These are simple things you can counterplay yourself vs things like pyke who are unkillable starting fights and cleaning them up. Its overloaded kits that are banned in high elo not the stat check ones, they do well in low elo but the simple solution is to just learn the game and play better where these new champs coming out feel they are only fun for that player to use not play against.
Well the only problematic champ for me is Mundo literally doesn't do anything just runs up to you and autos you to death while literally being unkillable
Or just get good lol if you want to play the game casually then do so and dont play ranked. If you want it to be hard and competitive then you need to learn these champs. Its not hard man. The Volibear rework makes me really sad. I remember being in school back in 2010/2011 when Volibear was about to come out and got his champion spotlight. That was my first encounter with League. I remember not being able to play the game at home because Windows Vista automatically blocked downloaded .exe files and you had to manually unblock them, which I didn't know how to do. I remember paying a dollar to play for an hour in the local arcade. I remember buying Garen and then refunding him later on so I could buy Volibear and have him as my only owned champion for a while. I remember playing ranked for the first time and instalocking Volibear on top. I never built Sunfire on him since I thought Randuin's was better. Warmogs and Atma's were my go-to second and third items. After a while I even bought a custom Runeguard Volibear calendar with my username on it. I still have it, to this day. It makes me extremely sad that they're taking away a part of my childhood because the champion isn't as useful /played as it used to be. This will be the fourth time this happened, since after Voli, the next couple of champs were the old Poppy, Sion and Taric. Those were the four champions that got me to Gold for the first time. The first one became the last one, and in a few months, he'll also be gone. This game is dying. Not because the players numbers are dwindling, but because it's becoming less and less fun to play. They've taken the fun out of the game with their desperate tries to control the meta. That's the problem with Riot, that's the problem with League of Legends.

Lmao. Imagine being so salty that your old main get reworked that you call league a dying game
@@adrian23422 Imagine answering a comment just to try to get clout by trying to diss me. Sit down.
@@guttsjoestar3299 wtf is that counter supposed to be? how would he gain "clout" by "roasting" a totally random comment.
@@lazi2243 can you assholes politely fuck off? I'd really appreciate it
"Rework" is the wrong word, in my opinion.
"Redesign" is more palatable to me. Volibear hasn't been changed so much he's not recognisable as Volibear anymore. He's just had some QoL adjustments to bring him to a level where he doesn't feel like a 2010 champion in a 2020 League of Legends. I've mained him since his rework and he's still obviously Volibear. You still play him more or less the same way as Old Voli. Yet he looks, feels and plays much nicer in the current state of the game.

He made a mistake, he wanted to say "Riot don't like the idea of tanks being resistent"
you are literally the best league content creator. love this chanel so much! keep up the good work man!!
thank you so much for the kind words!
He analyzes the game on such a deeper level than everyone else. Most people don't even consider talking about this type of stuff
Mundo runs through the enemy base while being chased and gets a kill before rofling back home. I think there is a place for stat-sticks as, like you said, tools to help players learn the game. I've played since 2009 and I still enjoy picking Voli and Mundo because I don't need to focus on complicated stuff. I can enjoy the game for what it is: a game. Some of the new champs, especially this newest one, are flat out too much mechanically for me to be able to enjoy the experience. I'm too worried about hitting the wrong button or a button too early and ruining everything, where as I don't have nearly that level of stress built up when I play Mundo. Sure, if I lose the early game it can suck, but at the end of the match I still go where I please and throw freaking cleavers at people.

Another amazing video that was worth the whole 21 minutes. Keep up the great work
i personally like some of the stat sticks, Volibear especially
Holy shit I forgot about wriggles lanterns. Haha you just made my day!
Dude I remember build atmogs on Ashe in a lot of games because it was just so broken. I was actually a really early adopter, at that point I had never seen atmogs anywhere and just build it because I thought it would be good and I would die less. The damage was lackluster but I had winstreaks of up 10 games without deaths all of a sudden. With the old Ashe Q slowing up to 45% you could literally stand in the middle of the enemy team and slow down anyone that tried to leave the fight because they got low. It was for a long time my highest winrate Ashe build, way stronger than panthom dancer infinity edge. To be able to scale quicker you would max e build philosophers stone for the regen and gold per 10 and play mid lane, as this way you reach level 9 faster to get +5 gold per minion plus the passive gold from philosophers stone and just by last hitting well you could have atmogs plus zeal at 20 minutes, at which point you become useful.
This worked so well because Ashe back then was the champion that could reach the 2 item atmog spike the fastest and most reliable. If ever Atma's Impaler is back in the game and Ashe gets her gold on the e again I would probably still build it even if I do not get the 3k hp needed for the new warmogs with the 2 items. :D
I saw 20 minutes, I was like, "Daaaamn, I ain't stayin for this shit."
I stayed the whole 20 minutes lol. Have an upvote.

4:35 "There is no real way to outplay a Mundo"
There is also no way Mundo can outplay other champions.
He either farmed well enough and made good basic decisions, which leads to him being able to kill you, or he didn't.
I think that all these reworks and new champs are ruining the old ones. They aren't outdated, but many new champs don't belong in the game.
Maybe Mundo is a bad example, but sometimes I feel like I can do nothing with certain old champs, when I am just a bit behind some enemy champ with an overloaded kit with a dash or two, cc, a projectile and stealth etc.
Of course you get chased or kited or they just jump over the wall. What can you do?
And while I've never played Yasuo, or most of those new champions, I don't feel like it can be really that hard to just spam your jump on the minionwave as yasuo or irelia, or windwall in any direction as yasuo, or hit your knockup as yasuo. I'm talking a lot about this cancer ninja, lol.
I don't think it is fair that many champions have so much movement speed or so many jumps and dashes now. Champs with a lot of skillshots just get left in the dust, because they can't hit shit if the enemy is half decent and can dodge. I feel like dodging is a lot easier than hitting shots, because it can actually be done without using abilities by just sidestepping fast enough in many cases. Add in the ton of champions that have high mobility now, and you are completely fucked when playing a classic skillshot mage.
But look at Master Yi for example. He can "outplay" other champs, in teamfights especially, by timing his q to dodge abilities, and timing his w to tank. He is a statstick himself, because melee adc's suck, and it takes one stun to kill him. Just like Tryndamere who gets mostly kited during his ult and then dies by many team compositions. I've played some arams with Yi, and it's not that hard to pull off. You just have to get lucky on the first kill for the reset, or safe your q for the first dodge and just follow up after a teammate gave you an opening with cc or by tanking or distracting the enemy at least. And boom you just penta the enemy team, because who can react when they are dead in 1 second, after you just teleported behind them with your q. Nothin' personell kid.
These new champion kits are outplaying everyone not because the player is good but because like you said they have a dash that goes over a wall if the trade looks bad they have a stealth that turns off all your auto attacks. These are not well timed abilities they are just win trade now buttons that allow worse players to beat better ones based on kits. This is just further pushing a counter pick meta to the extreme where the macro of the game matters less and less until even a much lower ranked player on these newer champs can "out micro" you and win lane.
this guy tells truth

If Riot touch Dr Mundo I'm changing into Dr Mundo and will drive through Riot. Very simple champ yet one of the most fun for me.
My man uploads another banger, haven't seen it all but yeeeeee
thank you!

god the nostalgia
i miss it so much
@Exil is there a possibility to do a video on Shyvana? She was my main during the "Golden Days" but shes never brought up in any video made by anyone, yet shes not so awful or unspoken that a video or rework is mentioned. She had several lore updates, and shes one of those Stat-Stick champs you listed, but I would love to see a deep dive into her like you did with Kalista, or Aatrox
