My Dad passed last year at age 83, I am turning 60 but watching this movie cracks me up...... reminds me of him... I swear he always seemed bent out of shape about his “son in laws” not being good enough.... then came the grandkids, then the great grandkids.... the weddings (for such a gruff IBM guy...he couldn’t disguise his tears walking us girls down the aisle). The sarcasm my Dad displayed wasn’t always welcomed but now that I am getting older...I get it! As ridiculous as it sounds, I felt very awkward being pregnant and showing....even though I was married and my husband was in college - clearly, my Dad had a raised brow.... we were too young, too dumb....I don’t think he could ever reconcile in his mind how his girls “got in the family way”....too funny.

there is one benefit to being older....living in the time when these movies depict....it was golden from childhood to adolescence to adult. Spencer Tracy was the Dad you wanted, cause he didn't text you, do selfies of himself or ignore his kids in a restaurant while glued to his I-phone. Because he wasn't living for I he was living for his family. You weren't ignored by self absorbed people who are turning into robots.

I had on gloves, and somebody wanted to know why. That just blew my mind. Like in Camden NJ, the RCA dog is still on the building, at the top, for everyone to see. And someone ask me what is that dog doing up there. Just like pictures of George Washington use to be everywhere. And saying the Plege Aleadgence to the Flag in school. I use to talk to old people back on the 70s all the time, because they were kids not that long after the civil war. I never had kids because of over population, now look were we are at. It is vanity to have so many children.
