  • I always wanted a Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 ever since I saw and heard Neil Young playing live with his.
Although an original was beyond the reach of my budget for a new workshop amp ( $ 1250 ) a kit wasn't. I found a kit supplier in Germany called Tubeampdoctor ( TAD ) and the 5E3 kit had rave reviews, so I bought one. This video the first of a few about me building the amp and upgrading it to something resembling Neil Youngs.
This kit is my starting point for the Neil Young Clone.

This is an excellent video, Neil, entertaining and informative.....not an easy combo to achieve. For those seeking assistance in assembly of this (exceptionally nice) kit, you go into exquisite detail, and for those motivated by curiosity, you provide an entertaining insight into the many steps required to hand-assemble a tube amp. Congratulations on a fine video and best of luck with your assembly.

I just found your channel, and I love ya! I have an original 1957 5e3 that is need of restoration. I have to recover the cabinet and replace some components. I am so glad you made this video, I may learn some mods that might make my tweed Deluxe better. Thankz

Excellent video. Thoroughly enjoyed this one because I'm thinking of building a TAD 5e3 myself. Looking forward to part III. Thanks again for making this!

+Boudreau Guitars There are about 30 companies who make them in all different price ranges. You could get one without the cabinet to cut costs and make one yourself.

    I got a standard 6V6 kit 5e3. What should i replace to introduce 6L6 tubes like Neil? New output transformer, a 5AR4 rectfier, a 200 Ohm / 10 watt cathode resistor, ... That's all?

Hello Friend. My wife thinks its funny that that there is another Neil freak out there (she had no clue to who he was til she met me. im 53 and have been followin his carrer since 13. however, when "Trans" came out, i found myself scratching my head! Its like NEIL, " what the $%^&*&?" We have watched your video many times and think you have done a very nice job of integrating some comedy into your video. we are currently trying to assemble the infamous 5F1. poor results first time around but still got back in the saddle. If you ever feel like swapping stories....we're here.
    God bless....

You need a spring-loaded transfer punch, oh my God please get rid of that pickaxe thing you're driving into your amp chassis!

World's smallest marketplace: whizzers for guys with 1950s amps who are Neil Young impersonators on the weekend. Anybody making money on the Neil Young impersonation gig? Does he use the whizzer in the middle of a particular song, where you can't just dial in the tone beforehand? I'm cracking up. I just can't believe how many of us have landed here.

Kind of silly you have to drill holes on a kit!
