Kanarra Falls is one of Utah's best hikes!

  • Hiking the Kanarra Falls trail. This four mile in and back trail has it all, forest, mountain, slot canyon and four waterfalls to cool off under. It's not a difficult trail and is considered a moderate hike, but because the trail is actually a creek for the second half, it can be pretty slippery with a it of scrambling up the second falls. There is a $12 permit required and only 150 are issued a day so it keeps the crowds down but you do need to plan ahead because of that. Also, because you will spend much of the time in a slot canyon with a stream running through it the trail you should wear footwear that is designed to get wet. The trail closes if there is storm activity so watch the weather because flash floods are very dangerous. It was 100 degrees when I hiked this in July 2022 and the water was still very cold but refreshing

      I love this hike. But hopefully it's not too cold this time of year.

    That was an amazing video, thanks a lot! It really helped in getting an idea of the difficulty and if it might be too challenging for us. We'll hit this trail next October with the kids. They're used to hiking, but mostly in alpine terrain. This will definitely be a unique experience.
    Greetings from Switzerland, looking forward to seeing your beautiful country!

      Thank you so much for your support! I'm glad this video helped you decide if the trail is a good fit for you, that's really the main reason I began filming trails; to show full trails for the purpose of adventure research. Descriptions about difficulties can be so subjective and I find it much nicer to actually see a trail verses read about them. Hope your trip goes very well with great weather and no crowds. Hopefully someday I will get the chance to visit your breathtaking country as well. Cheers!

      Hey my pleasure! I really recommend this hike in the hot summer months, (just be sure to secure a permit) nothing like dousing yourself in a cold mountain creek when it's 100 degrees out.

    Thanks for searching out some of the most magical and beautiful places to hike. This one looks like it could be quite treacherous during the fall and winter. I would advise to hike it during the summer months if the water levels are high. This place reminds me of the Moab area with those slot canyon views. The Kanarra Falls trail looked like something I would want to try. You were wearing grippy toed shoes which were perfect for this type of terrain.

      Totally correct. Perfect hike when it's 100+. Not only because it's more of a dry season hike for safety reasons, but also because the water is super cold. And yeah, I was glad to be wearing the water shoes. Half the hike is spent literally in the stream so, that's something to consider on this adventure.

    Was it hard to get back down the tree ladder?

    • @RealAdventureTheory

      It wasn't for me. But it is a little slippery so just go slow and be careful.

    Great video! How long does it take to hike to the more stunning falls with the tall canyons between you? I’m trying to estimate the time going in vs going out back to the parking lot.

    • @RealAdventureTheory
      @RealAdventureTheory  Před 11 měsíci +2

      I want to say I hit the trail at 9 am and arrived back at my truck at noon with lots and lots of unnecessary (totally necessary) breaks to film and soak. Hope that helps.
