Hiking to the AMAZING Kanarra Falls + Kolob Canyons at Zion National Park (Timber Creek Overlook)

- For our final day in the Zion National Park area, we ventured to the northwest portion of the park to hike both in and outside of the park. We kicked things off with a hike through an ice cold creek to the amazing Kanarra Falls and then did a sunrise hike to the Timber Creek Overlook at the Kolob Canyons area of Zion. It was a weekend of epic views and adventure!

That ladder with a camera in your hand = talent
Hahaha thankfully it's MUCH easier to hold the GoPro while climbing a ladder than our regular camera (wouldn't have risked that)!
Did the Kanarra Creek hike about 20 years ago with my wife, 15 y/o daughter and 7 y/o son, beautiful, memorable experience. The tree “ladder” was a bit sketchier back then.
Super... The Kanarra trail looked so fun.
Kolob Canyon is my favorite..more hiking with less people. Nature and quiet.
Super videi🥰👍
It was a blast! And we loved Kolob Canyons. Definitely going to spend more time there next time!
So peaceful up in that last place 😍 love the way u take videos it’s so professional & lovely to watch
It was a gorgeous and peaceful spot to spend the morning! And thank you so much for the kind words about our filming❤️
Wow! That first hike what a hike! I couldn’t do that but thank you for taking us along with y’all!!
It was incredible! Even though it was very cold haha
Awesome! So much beauty! I kept holding my breath when you would slip.
Thankfully no slips, minus Adam's little river fall haha!
You both are too cute. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
You're too kind Rob! Thank you!
That ladder looked exciting for sure! 😄 Good call on the neoprene socks. That's what we used to wear when going into wet caves. So much better than regular socks!
They helped so much! Our feet were cold and wet, but definitely not in the same way they would've been with regular socks!
Hello Adventurers, Wow...what a cool...literally cool hike through Kannarra Falls. I have hiked the Narrows but didn't know about this place, and those latters...so cool! I have also been to what I call the quiet zone at Kolob Canyons. Last time I was there I didn't see anyone, which kept me coming back to Kolob Canyons. Such a HUGE breath of fresh air and so quiet, in the quiet zone. Such SPECTACULAR SCENERY!! Great video👍👍! Can't wait for the next video.
The quiet zone, we love that! We didn't see anyone at sunrise until we were almost back to the van after the hike. It was AMAZING!
You both bring a child like excitement and energy to your experiences of nature and food. Very refreshing and relaxing watching all your vlogs
😀
Thank you so much and thanks for watching!
Great vid you 2! Such a calming vibe and I love the music choices. That overlook looked so peaceful....love the highlighting of the the lesser known spots as you said Zion is getting crazy busy. Looking forward to seeing the Bryce content!
Thank you Nate! And we really loved getting off the super beaten path at Zion!
What a wonderful birthday gift this vlog was! America's favorite traveling couple is once again bringing us incredible views and exciting adventures!!! That hike looked like a lot of fun...so glad you enjoyed it so much! I hope those socks kept your feet dry...sounds like I need a pair of those! Thank you, thank you, thank you for these vlogs...the inspiration you guys provide is fantastic!
We highly recommend the socks Brad! Especially if you find yourself chasing waterfalls or any crazy river hikes! So happy you have enjoyed the vlogs, thank you for watching them! ❤️
Great to see you guys back on the road, stay safe and keep doing what you guys do so well.
Thank you Mark! We have really been enjoying being back in our van and being in Utah!
Great bloops! That ladder was wild and those views were incredible!
The ladder was so fun! Once I got the hang of it at least 😅😅
Another beautiful hike! That ladder was amazing and looked like fun! Bryce Canyon is beautiful, one of our favorites! Can't wait to see the hikes you take there!
Bryce Canyon is so amazing! Excited to share all of the gorgeous hoodoos!
Very cool! Definitely adding this one to my Utah bucket list. Thanks for sharing!
We _highly_ recommend it! Thanks for watching!
Nice work guys! Love that you're doing non-typical stuff away from the crowds. By the way, the GF and I visited Toadstool Hoodoos based on your former recommendation and I freakin' loved it! Most people walk up to the main Hoodoo and call it a day, but you can keep walking to the west and a whole other area of hoodoos can be explored up until you reach some cliffs, and then there is an incredible view of the valley and the Escalante staircase. Such an alien landscape. Thanks for mentioning it!
We enjoyed the less busy spots just as much as the popular sights (if not more)! YAY, so glad you went and enjoyed it! We had thought there may have been more hoodoos and we tried to go towards the right and it got a bit steep, so we turned around. Darn it!
i went there last year and it was amazing! i'm actually back out here in the area again!
Have an awesome time back out here!
I’m just loving this series! Great videos, you two! And you’re hitting all my faves. Can’t wait to see where you go in Bryce.
We are so happy you're enjoying the Utah videos! SO many more to come!
great video guys! I will be in Colorado in first week of September and I plan on going to Bryce Canyon, Zion and Grand Canyon. cannot wait. hope the weather then is ok? i may need to get me some of those socks!! LOL
The socks were clutch! Still got cold, but not as bad. And September should be less brutal than the summer!
This park does not disappoint looks amazing 👏👏👏
It really doesn’t! Views everywhere!
Fantastic! I enjoyed the tour, hike, and video. Way good!
Thank you so much! 😄
Kanarra Falls is one of our favorite hikes too! We went back in 2017. Back then all they had was an honor system for parking! Crazy to see how popular it is now.
We are actually pretty glad they limited it now, we had read it used to get SO crazy busy! Such a great hike!
Both of these hikes were AWESOME! That ladder looked a bit slick and steep but I’m sure was so worth it! You never disappoint with your videos. I feel I can say I’ve been to all these spots without leaving my couch! Of course, I would rather do them myself but watching my favorite couple hiking all these awesome spots is the next best thing❣️ Can’t wait to see the next one!
The ladder was a bit scary with the water rushing right next to us! 😬 Sometimes it’s icy, but thankfully it wasn’t for us!
Beautiful video! Amazed you were able to get such great footage while climbing, balancing on rocks etc! Great job! Bloopers were fun too! ~Cara 😊
It was tricky! Especially on that ladder! Thank you so much!
You guys are putting out so many great videos! Serious kudos!!
Thank you so much, we appreciate that more than you know!
Another great adventure guys!!😁Thank you
Thank you so much for watching!
You two are so cute! Two amazing hikes!! I’ll bet that water was ice!!
SO COLD! Hahaha it wasn't too bad at first until our fingers froze!
This is on our list still! We were not able to do this hike when we were in Utah and I'm so excited for the day we can.
♡♡♡
It is AWESOME! We loved it so much!
Great series
That was a great adventure!! I loved the beautiful canyon. The trip up the ladder made me nervous. I am glad you all made it in one peice. 😃😃
It was a tad scary! Looking back it was a blast, but in the moment I definitely said “should we be doing this?” 😂
That hike looked amazing! Can’t wait to experience Zion in person someday!
It was such a memorable experience! We are excited for you to experience it someday!
What a fun video. You guys are great!
So glad you enjoyed it Michele! One of our favorite days yet!
Thanks for all the info you guys. Going this summer on an epic trip and it ends our last 5 days with in Bryce and Zion. Not counting on getting shuttle tix for Z Cyn so I have several backup hikes in store. Great footage and can’t wait till next your Bryce video🥾🥾🥾👍🏼😃❤️!!
Thank you so much for watching, we hope it has helped you with your trip! Bryce Canyon is so awesome and we cannot wait to share it in the next video!
Excellent video, thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much!
I agree that Kolob Canyon is just as beautiful as Zion. I also did the Timber Creek overlook and It is quite a site see.
We really loved it! The peaks there are pretty crazy!
Amazing content and tips keep up the great work. Stay safe and have fun
Thank you Maggie!
I can’t get enough of your vlogs! I have watched them all so are there any other travel vlogers you would suggest, but don’t worry, you guys will always be my favorite!
You’re too kind, thank you Owen! 🥰 We really love The Endless Adventure. We have watched all of their vlogs and they’ve visited some cool spots both abroad (mostly abroad) and in the US!
@@AdventuresofAplusK thank you so much! I will get strait to my pantry for snacks and start binge watching!
Hahaha they do eat a lot of food too! 😂
Adam clutch with the music selection on this one. We’re bummed that this is the last Zion vlog - thanks so much for sharing some of the less populated areas, we’ll see how it is in mid-June!!
Loved his music choices for this one too! And y’all will have to let us know how it is in June!
I just got my ticket for Kanarra Falls and I'm so excited for it
Yay! So glad you get to hike it!
Love seeing the less known parts of Zion :) The I would take my students up our creek chances were one would inevitably get a foot into the water and as we walked down the trail back to camp you heard the sweet sound of "Squishy Foot" as we called it LOL. Thanks for sharing another amazing adventure
Hahahaha yes, squishy foot! We definitely had that!
I ‘m sure you were dreaming of a good cup of java after hiking in that cold water!
1000%! Definitely made more coffee after!
These videos have been awesome 👍
So glad you've been enjoying them Glenn! We've had a lot of fun making them!
We did that hike this past weekend! We even found neoprene socks at Ace Hardware! The water was high and fast due to snow melt, but we loved it. We’re from Austin too!
Hello fellow Austinites! That is awesome! Ace for the win! We hope you had fun!
I love your channel! I will be following on some of your footsteps this Sept/Oct!
Woo! Excited for you to check these spots out!
You two are so cute. great video , Love Zion 👍
Zion rocks! Thanks for the kind words!
Just found your channel. Great video. Looking to get up to Utah as well and experience some of those incredible sites.
We hope you have an amazing time!
First, appreciate you videos. They are well shot/edited and full of helpful information. We are on a 3 1/2 month trip that started in mid-March. We just got into the Utah part of our trip and are watching and rewatching your videos for helpful tips. We are staying in Cedar City this week. Went to Bryce yesterday and the drive back to CC on 14 was incredible. Thanks again for all the helpful info. Side note, we are from Austin as well. Hook ‘em!
The drive from Bryce Canyon to Cedar City is amazing! We backtracked after Bryce back to that area and loved the drive. And HOOK 'EM!!! Have a safe and fun trip!
We just went to the Kanarra Falls a few days ago and loved it. The ladder was a bit slick lol but it was fun!
Such a unique and fun experience!
I'm glad you made it! Super fun hike, it's for sure better in April or May. I totally forgot that! Great video guys
Such a blast! 🙌🏼 Thanks James!
@@AdventuresofAplusK how long are you two in Utah for? The summer months are great for Flaming Gorge and Powell too.
We are here for just a couple more weeks (our videos are about 3 weeks behind real life right now). We have to leave before it gets too warm because of Kona.
@@AdventuresofAplusK Well if our paths crossed we were thinking on you joining our family for a day on the lake in Flaming Gorge. We just love that place. Wake Surfing is fun, buts it's amazing with the views at Flaming Gorge. There is a campsite out there by Sheep creek.... I think! Anyway, keep up the great videos our family loves them!
I am loving the Zion series. I was there most recently way back in 2009, and it seems like it was WAY less busy then. We hiked Angels Landing, and there weren't too many people then. Glad we did it when we did. Glad you were able to get a Kanarra Falls permit - looks awesome.
It seems to be getting busier and busier every year! Or maybe our crowd tolerance is just lower from last time haha!
West Texas Outside, I don't think any national park has gotten more popular as fast as Zion has in the last 20 years. 2.5 million to 4.5 million attendance swing; close to double.
We believe it! We could totally tell the difference from our Memorial Day trip in 2018.
All of these places are close to home. Glad you are enjoying them. Great videos by the way. New subscriber.
We really enjoyed this area! Thanks Adriana!
You guys are amazing! I Love watching your adventures. Hope someday I can go on my own adventures too :)
We hope you can too! Thanks so much for watching!
This hike looked SO COOL. I love stuff like that. The ladder up the small waterfall looked awesome! Dancing on top! How were the socks? Kolob Canyon looked so cool as well!
The socks were awesome! They helped a ton, although our feet still got a bit cold. Such a fun hike though with that ladder!
Cool video, the ladder was cool as well
Thank you! The ladder was a fun feature of the hike!
following you guys now 😊 !
Thank you so much for following along!
Great job going up Kanarra Falls!!
It did look scary!
Hopefully your feet and hands warmed up quickly 🙂🍁
Thanks Shari! Thankfully we warmed up quickly!
My mom sold her house and travels from park to park in her RV, so jealous so the best i can do is pretend im doing the same watching your videos! Ahha
How awesome for your mom! That is so cool!
The ladder in Kanarra is a million times better than it was...many locals were upset when they turned the log into a ladder...first with wooden slats and now the metal steps. It is totally worth it to hike further up stream where natural water slides are. Of course you would not want to slide on them in early spring runoff water. ❄️❄️❄️ wow, timing on the rockfall. I have a special connection with Middle Taylor Creek, I slipped on ice and broke my ankle on that trail one January. What an experience to get rescued out of there. Too bad you didn't know about the south fork trail, so worth it. I don't know why ZNP does not put it on their maps.
We had heard it was a LOT sketchier to get up there before, we're glad that ladder was there! And we hope to make it further back on a MUCH warmer day lol 🥶
Oh gosh, that is so scary, glad you're ok! We almost did South Fork, but we decided to be lazy and lay low instead haha. Definitely going to visit that area again in the future!
This is just awesome. Last time we mussed this part, we took the wrong way. We had limited tym, so didn't go back. Next tym for sure
We hope you can check it out, we loved both of these spots so much!
You guys are literally hitting every destination that I have planned for my road trip in a week! Down to Lake Powell next?
Ah nice! We did Lake Powell (sort of...it rained haha) about 4-5 videos back! We have also done the Page, AZ area a couple years ago and have a video from then, although go easy on us, it was at the beginning of our vlogging days haha
Awesome video 📹
Thanks a bunch! 🤗
Awesome vlogs of Zion, we hope to make it there in the future, will be moving to the west coast in a couple of weeks.
Congrats on the move! We may be biased from our time living in WA, but the west coast is the best coast 😉
@@AdventuresofAplusK we have enjoyed what we have done so far (very little). Everywhere has their ups and downs but excited to explore more.
Nice selection Adam on the music track "wide awake" instrumental
Good ears!!!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Hi Adam, Check out this track.. it will be great if you can add this on future vlogs musicbed.com/songs/streams/44052
Awesome conclusion to this Zion series. Great job! I belong to a few national park FB groups and Kanarra Falls pops up pretty regularly. Always the classic shot of the log ladder at the falls. It was really neat to see what actually goes into this hike. That was a really beautiful area and I hope to experience one day.
Have you heard of the Belly of the Dragon trail near Zion? I see that pop up pretty regularly in those groups as well. I don’t think there is much to it but looks like a unique photo op.
It is such a fun hike! Even if it’s freezing cold!
And we have! I believe it was pretty close to the sand cave we went to in Kanab!
Water Hikes 🎸
Gotta find more of these!
Loved the video guys! My one pointer for future hikes where you might encounter bolts (The metal loop you guys pulled yourself up on above the ladder) is it's never a good idea to put your fingers in them. If you were to fall holding it like that you will likely de-glove your fingers which would not be fun at all! Stoked to see the next video
😰😰😰 That would NOT have been good! Thank you for the advice, we appreciate it!
Hey guys. It was fun to see less visited parts of the Zion NP area. I hadn't seen either of these two areas before. PS "prune feet"
Hahahah where the heck did I get grapes from?! 😂🍇
If you have not gone to Bryce Canyon since filming this, I suggest you take this trail called the queens trail(I can’t remember the exact name). It goes around the rim and then down into the canyon with beautiful views! It’s quite the hike but the views are worth it!
We are currently about 3 weeks behind real life on these videos, so we have gone, but we did do that trail and it’s amazing! 😍😍
Beautiful footage of Kanarra fFalls! Heading to Zion soon and will definitely check this place out. Hopefully I can get the permit! What kind of camera are you using? The footage looks great! Now following!
Thank you so much! We hope you get to hike it, it's incredible! And we use a mix of a Sony A6500 and A7iii. All of our gear is listed here: adventuresofaplusk.com/resources/
@@AdventuresofAplusK Awesome! Thank you for the info. Been looking at the A7 iii and surprised the price still hasn't dropped over the years. Currently use the GoPro 8 and the stabilization has been awesome for the trail but doesn't have the cine feel. There is a a ton of places to explore on my channel that might interest you. would love to hear your feedback! Keep making great videos!
Oh boy, that water temperature sounds brutal! The one thing about visiting in July/August was that the water in the Narrows was very refreshing and welcoming. The trail reminds me a little of the 7 Ladders Canyon I did in Romania, though this looked a lot more challenging and your description of the point where you turned back sounded like a wise choice! I felt the same about Canyonlands NP as you described with Kolob, more for serious backpackers rather than day/half day hikes. The quality of your Go Pro footage is really good, is it a Go Pro 9?
The summer heat would’ve definitely made that hike less brutally cold lol! We also did it at sunrise time when it was still cold out...🥶🥶 Totally worth it though! That 7 ladders canyon looks AWESOME! We really want to visit Romania and we will 100% be doing that!
We are planning to watch your Canyonlands video tonight or tomorrow to prepare for our time there! The Island in the Sky part definitely seems more overlook focused, but we’re planning to do a big hike in the Needles section and cannot wait! Although we love easy overlooks and hikes, we especially love the challenging hikes too!
I thinkkkk it’s a GoPro Hero 8! We got it over a year ago!
Going on road trip Colorado - utah in beginning of October ( in 2 weeks) . I now have the Kanarra falls hike on my list. You mentioned this may now be one of your top 5 hikes. Do you mind sharing any of your other fave 5? Btw thx for the video. It was fun to watch.
Well, since we’ve done so much since then this one probably doesn’t make it into the top 5 anymore. But that doesn’t take anything away from it! We love the Highline Trail in Glacier, Cirque of the Towers in Wyoming, many of the hikes we did this summer in Alaska. Too many to choose from!
Thanks and thanks for watching! We hope you have a great trip! Check out our website as well. We have guides and itineraries for most of the places we have visited. Maybe it will help you plan if you need more ideas!
I’m planning on a Utah trip right now and your videos help so much. I was wondering what time did you go to the Kannara Hike? We’re trying to do Zion and this Kannarra Hike in one day and was wondering which hike to do first also wanting to do the Zion canyon overlook trail and the watchman trail
We started right at sunrise! Zion gets wayyyyy busier so I’d do Zion first (canyon overlook at sunrise and then watchman) and then do this later in the day!
@@AdventuresofAplusK thank you so much! Very helpful☺️❤️
😍😍😍
❤️
hello a and k, my wife and i went there back a few weeks ago, she hikes and i brought my gold pan , for panning to see if there is any gold in the runoff, guess what yes there is gold in there streams, FOUND A FEW PICKERS, , time out locations is that dark brown colored dirt at time out 1;45 top right of screen. i know you cant do it in a national park but oh well. second location time out 2;31 right at that orange tape, found a few more and yes it WAS COLD. THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO.
Oh wow, that is AWESOME! Hadn't even thought about gold being there!
I'm glad you weren't on that trail when the rockslide occurred. They would have found your camera near the rubble and this would have been your Blair Witch video: "Here we are hiking the super exciting Middle Fork Tayl---OH SH********************.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (In loving memory of A plus K, We Will Miss You).
The trail you took in Kolob versus the one you couldn't (now open): When we're there in 4 weeks, I'll probably have to decide between them (another couple will now join my wife and me) before our Scenic Trail day. We'll be on to Bryce after that (and then the North Rim), so I'm watching these videos even more avidly than your past Adventures. Thank you kindly for forging a trail. And great work. Y'all deserve more subscribers.
Hahahah oh gosh, that would've been awful! 😰The Middle Fork Taylor Creek trail look awesome! We hope you are able to do it! The Timber Creek Overlook was also incredible, but you could get some of the views from just the scenic drive. We are so glad our current videos are lining up well with your future trip...the Bryce Canyon video will be out Thursday!
Enjoy the bloopers at the end each time. Personalizes it.
We’re so glad to hear that! We like to try to show a little bit behind the scenes when we can!
What water pack do you use ? Is it part of the Patagonia backpack ?
It’s a camelbak bladder! We love it! amzn.to/3eg82lS
We have not done that hike because of the water; but maybe now that we’ve seen what it’s like, maybe next time.
It makes it extra fun and memorable! We hope you can try it sometime!
I followed the link for hiking equipment but didn’t see the socks listed. I’m planning to do this hike in November and really would like to have the neoprene socks. Would you kindly provide a link for the socks please? 🙂
Just recently started following you guys and love your content! Thank you 😊
Ya we picked those up the day before. Not sure the brand, but they are neoprene like wet suit material. We don’t have a link for those specific socks
Thanks and thanks for watching!
That was a pretty cool hike! Don't normally get wet on mine lol. But I have a question. How much time is in between actually filming and doing these videos and when they're posted to CZcams?
This was filmed about 3 weeks ago! We have a pretty hefty backlog right now since we filmed nonstop for a week + every weekend since. They are normally maybe 1-2 weeks behind real life.
Hey, you two are so close to Meadow Hot Springs! It is a must see and experience. You will be kicking yourself if you don’t go, being so close. I took my family there on our way to Yellowstone. The footage of our experience there is at the beginning of my Yellowstone Roadtrip video. You can check it out there or on the many other CZcams videos on the place...but check it out before you leave the area.
We had wanted to go there, but it was the opposite direction of where we planned to go afterwards. 😔 We love hot springs though, so we will have to check it out next time!
@@AdventuresofAplusK that’s too bad...we spent the whole day swimming there. One of the highlights of our trip.
Kolob Canyons just before Sunset....Shhhhh, don't tell too many people.
Such a gem!
How long is the hike - both ways. I am asking for a friend from Germany. Thank you for the tip about a ticket
The AllTrails map is linked in the description 😊
Do you guys still use a Sony a6000 for vlog/shooting? And what size lens for the video
Hi Brandon! We have a A6500 and A7iii. All of our gear is listed here: adventuresofaplusk.com/resources/
@@AdventuresofAplusK thank you for all the videos looking forward to the rest of your Utah adventures !
Thank you so much for watching! We have lots more to come!
Around what dates did you guys do this hike?
This was one of the last few days of March I believe.
What time of year was this?
This was filmed in late March.
Have you guys done the Subway?
We haven’t, but would love to!
@@AdventuresofAplusK I think you guys will love it. It is a bit strenuous coming back up.
I saw an Instagram story of someone doing it this weekend and the water was so high up! Looked crazy fun!
@@AdventuresofAplusK maybe they were doing top down instead of down top.
I’m on team zi-on myself. Been saying it incorrectly for years and it’s so tough to say it differently. Will apologize to locals later.
Totally feel you! We really try hard to pronounce things correctly, but when you say something one way your entire life, it’s very hard to remember to say it the correct way (especially when the anxiety and pressure of the camera is there!)
