Half Man's Song Copyright Gavin Dunne 2012
There are some who are born distinguished
There are some who are raised in praise
But me I was always the last in line
A blot in my father's gaze
No cheekbones chiselled on a feline face
No skill or savvy with a sword
But this game we all play is won in wily ways
And sly is this littlest lord
Cruel tricks of romance
Degraded by their spite
You snub your cub too many times
You just might feel his bite...
Beware beware of the words I twist
I am small but my reach is long
And the ravens black against the winter's mist
Are whispering the half-man's song
Whispering the half man's song...
The land is a blooming orchard
With fruits so juicy and ripe
With a clink of a coin loose the lion's loin
Play a tune on the half man's pipe
In the arms of a whore I made a promise
Sinking deeper into danger every day
Cut through all their shit with a brazen wit
Molding puppets from their minds of clay
I'm no man of honour
Myself is my true king
But somewhere deep within me
The bells of conscience ring
Beware beware of the words I twist
I am small but my reach is long
And the ravens black against the winter's mist
Are whispering the half-man's song
They're whispering the half man's song...
Whispering the half man's song... - Hudba
"With a clink of a coin loose the lion's loin

Took me WAY too long to understand.
So innocent... =D

I wouldnt of even paid attention to that line if you hadnt mentioned it...I didnt expect id have to think while listening thats why i dont listen to music with Hidden messages....anymore.....shshshshsh.....

"The bells of conscience" suddenly sounds rather prophetic.

True! Never noticed that!
So does: "And the ravens black against the winter's mist"
Which is all the more hilarious considering this song was written wayyyyyyy before season 8

How Tyrion became the equivalent of a High King. Compare to his sister,he is the lesser evil.
@@LichKingAzerak And for a moment, Jon saw in tyrion's shadow a giant"
Tyrion was more like Tywin than any of his other siblings. If it weren't for the fact that he is a dwarf, he would probably have been the heir to Casterly Rock and the Lannister family. I love the character (even if the Tv Show ruined him in the end, but Peter Dinklage still potrays him perfectly)
He *would* have been - Cersei and Jaime are out of the line of succession.
jaime, cersei and tyrion are the 3 separate traits of tywin
Well, if he wasn't a dwarf or a suspected bastard.
But if he wasn't a dwarf he wouldn't have had the rest of the qualities
"Jaime, sweetling, I have known you since you were a babe at Joanna's breast. You smile like Gerion and fight like Tyg and there's some of Kevan in you, else you would not wear that cloak... but Tyrion is Tywin's son, not you. I said so once to your father's face, and he would not speak to me for half a year." Genna Lannister, sister of Tywin Lannister, to Jaime, after Tyrion murders Tywin
Tyrion: *does anything*
Cersei: I'm about to end this half-man's whole career
Cersei: exists
Cersei: Takes deep breath.
Cersei: lets fuck everything up.
Tyrion: ????
It's kinda weird how as I progressed through the tv series, Jaime went from being the character I despise most to one of my favorites. When you first look at him, he seems very simple to understand, but it turns out that he really has hopes, dreams, and worries like the rest of the characters. And he's perhaps the only family member who really loves Tyrion.
That's not how you progressed. That's how the writing progressed. The writing clearly is written so that you hate him at first, but then like him later. This is for two reasons. 1. So you know more about his back-story then you thought (sort of a plot thickens type of technique). 2. Avoid balancing the good/neutral/evil and chaotic/neutral/lawful balance of characters.
m0hsalim Your fucking up the feeling
i dont remember ever hating the guy
i did hate cersei at certain points though
Firestar1992 Flee, you fucking idiot.
I know right? Tywin called Tyrion a monster but if Tyrion is a monster he's a monster that Tywin made. Things would look very different from the way they do if I were him. Starting of course by the general temperament of the Lannister siblings.
_I am small, but my reach is long._
Yeah, we all know what *that* means.

Game of Thrones Seasons 1 - 4 were magical, examples of excellent story-telling and television. Tyrion was one of the best fictional characters of all time, made the earlier seasons splendid, along with the likes Tywin Lannister, Catelyn Stark, Jaime Lannister, Theon Greyjoy, and Stannis Baratheon. Man, the series really went to shit afterwards and I take no pleasure in saying that. But Gods the writing was STROOOOOONG then.
Wasn't that about when they ran out of published books to base the material on...?
@@0Kasada Yep. They knew they were running out of material, so they started deviating from the books. Stannis was the first major victim of this. Don't know how much Martin was assisting in the later seasons, but I don't think he even has planned the ending, so the last seasons are fanfiction to me until Martin finishes the books (if he ever does)
@@Nausicaa-oj1gf I remember an old interview with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau;The actor who plays Jaime, where he said "In time, You'll miss Joffrey."
All the same, Joffrey had to die. And he had to die kind of the way he did. Else; It would be a different story.
I am not of the mind that D&D botched the show that bad. Sure; I prefer the books as far as they entice my expectations as of today, but making the best with (give or take) the same cast, for so many years, is a challenge in and of it's own.
I'm an optimist, it's in my nature - and i hope and look forward towards WoW.
boooooooooooooooooooook
Tyrion is by far one of my most favourite characters
It's such a brilliant tune. Even at the end of '21, this still goes strong... Even after they fcked up the final season of GoT, i still enjoy this tune to the fullest... Dinklage just plays the role perfectly...
He used to be the perfect example of "True greatness has nothing to do with size"...
If this will not play at my funeral, I'm not dying.
i can just imagine you crawling out of your grave and be like "where the fuck is the halfman song?!"
You made my day xD
+Problem? That's the spirit. :D

Would you mind if I paid someone to play "Rains of Castamere" at your wedding?
"We've had viscous kings.....and we've had idiot kings. But I don't think we've ever been cursed with a viscous idiot for a king!!!"
After GoT finale, "The bells of conscience rings" has a different impact
Let's just pretend season 8 never existed, okay ?
Did you mean conscience? Or did you really mean there are bells with a mind of their own and aware; conscious. They aren't interchangeable words.
@@ChristianHagenRaknarokk The city bells
"You snub your cub too many times, you just might feel his bite." Damn straight!
Tyrion Lannister is really the only character who i can openly say i like. he is the only one who sees all ridiculousness, hypocrisy, and downright stupidity that takes place in Westeros, and he tries hard to make things better. And yet, he is branded a beast, a dwarf, and imp, and most importantly, a kingslayer. he's the only good guy left in this series. Tyrion is the only qualified person to sit the Iron Throne.
We still got other good guys... Yara, Brienne, Pod, Hodor, Bran (yawn), Davos, Lord Friendzone, Jon, Sam, Sansa, Rickun, Margarie (well she may not be good but I don't care because she's hot and if you disagree I demand trial by combat :P )
miracleofsound Lord Friendzone :)) Oh God!:))All the characters you've mentioned may be good but I think that Tyrion is still the most qualified to sit on the Iron Throne. Daenerys just annoys me to death. I don't know why everyone loves her. She seems to be so childish, immature and frankly, quite stupid to me. She would be nothing without the dragons. She kind of reminds me of her brother, Viserys. She's just as impatient and blind to reality as he was.
+miracleofsound ... when this was written how many seasons was out?
In the books they made him a much more morally grey character
... because in my book Brienne was not really good for anything anyemore, nor Pod,
I am no man of honour
Myself is my true king,
But somewhere deep within me the bells of conscience ring.
The Perfect lines to describe tyrion as a character❤
If only Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) would sing this!!!!
Great song!~
Space Pants!
Daniel Griff and space shorts!
This is amazing! Its like something a Westerosi bard might actually write about Tyrian.
"He rode through the streets of the city,
down from his hill on high,
O'er the wynds and the steps and the cobbles,
he rode to a woman's sigh.
For she was his secret treasure,
she was his shame and his bliss.
And a chain and a keep are nothing,
compared to a woman's kiss
For hands of gold are always cold,
but a woman's touch is warm"
Now this is what they DO write :p
Michael Nielsen Or what George R.R. Martin writes when he writes poetry :P
Tyrion
Son of Tywin
Perhaps the best written, most honorable person in the Game of Thrones.
"I'm no man of honor"
Oh I beg to differ, he was the only motherfucker raising complaints after the Red Wedding. Also his treatment of Sansa, Brann, Jon Snow, Podrick.
wellguesswhatIthink honor is not the same as what's right. They often coincide, but they're not the same thing.
Behemous No I think that's just vanity speaking. If Tyrion was a soldier, guard or king you would call that behaviour honor
It could mean the drinking and whoring.
Haven't watched the most recent seasons, that being said:
Sansa: Tyrion, rather than take advantage of a young, terrified woman, drunk himself into a stupor and while made a complete and total ass of himself, allowed Sansa to keep her womanhood and dignity. This in itself (while defacing himself) is one of the most honorable actions he could've taken. If the scene where he welcomes him to their bed had been the only I'd seen, it would still be all I needed to know Tyrion's character.
Brann: Tyrion respects the Starks, He doesn't JUST respect them for their honor and incorruptibility (a trait extremely rare in Westeros), he respects them for the die-hard loyalty they earn from their allies. He recognizes this, Tyrion is mortified by every wrong against the Starks not just because they are honest and loyal to the throne (which, up until Ned's beheading would've made them an incredibly powerful ally to the Lannisters in this conflict) but because he knows that the Starks ruled the North not through fear (which most westeros nobility do) but due to the respect and deep trust they earned from their vassals/bannermen.
Jon Snow: The similarities between Jon Snow and Tyrion are played at very early on in the series. While Jon isn't OPENLY despised, his existence is a stain on the Stark family (or rather, was). Tyrion recognizes and reminds Jon that he should never let his title as an 'illegitimate child' wear him down, he gives him words of wisdom, to harden himself against others whom may talk down upon a bastard child because he sympathizes with him, despite being in a higher position in court (Via the Lannisters being the king's in-laws at the time).
Podrick is the most distinguished of these however.
Podrick offers to help Tyrion in whatever way he can. Despite this, Tyrion tells him to do the very opposite, Tyrion REFUSES to let this young man with all his life ahead of him throw his life away meaninglessly. His decision to tell Podrick to leave Tyrion to his doom shows that he cares for the people that follow him, he may be a drunkard and a lech but he DOES care for those whom follow him. Podrick's word likely would've held little weight but even so, Tyrion COULD have let him speak on his behalf, instead he saved a life with nothing to gain from it. If that isn't honorable, I don't know what is.
in the books, he does many things that no one would call honourable, like drowning someone in his soup for insulting him
Remember when Tyrion was a well-written character?
Yep, it takes me back
I member, member when Jon wasn't Danny's bitch?
He is still well written character
We kinda forgot that Tyrion is smart
Commander_Ninja he still is

Twas a simpler time when this was made. One of good writing, of a great show, and most important of all, a time before season 8.
I was going to say that this is a song fit for a king, but in the context of Game of Thrones I'm not sure whether that would count as an insult or a compliment.
+mewtuwa
It would be a compliment if it was Tyrion on the throne and an insult if it was anyone else XD I think so at least
+Naja Hansen I never considered a happy ending for GoT, but that might be it
+Susie Sullivan that, or Dany gets the throne in Westeros and Tyrion is at least her most trusted counselor. And Jon ruling Winterfell, not the Boltons or the Ironborn or anyone not of Stark blood😂
+Naja Hansen well part of that came true and hey we have a new dog food Bolton bits lol
+Brandon Crowe haha, yeah! I don't think I've cheered that much since joffrey died😄

Okay, enough joking.. this song is really catchy.. and has a dark atmosphere with it. I love it. Its so awesome.
"I'm the raven's black against the winter's mist" This song is simply amazing!
This is so epic and it fits Tyrion perfectly. A work of art really.
I love this SO MUCH. First, it makes me nostalgic about the s1/s4 Tyrion who was way better than the character depicted in the last 4 seasons. Plus I love the "sinister" tune: it reflects so much the Tyrion from the books, who is much less black and white from the one on the show

a savage abuse of replay button. This is EPIC.
Tyrion is one of my favorite characters, both in the book and in the show, but i wish that they would show how hardcore Tyrion is in the books, he only kills like 3 in the show, but in the book "A Storm of Swords" and the first "A Game of Thrones" he kills alot more people. Tyrion is actually really strong for his size.
Amazing reading and a great show!
not strong, but he has an axe and knows how to fell "trees".
"Trees" ??
Benji Wis
Thats what he says in the books "its like felling trees" or something like that...take an axe to people's legs and it won't matter how tall they are.
Jay K bronn said when giving him the axe it's like cutting that bleed
Josef Rincon
Yes I found it, Bronn tells him to pretend he is splitting logs.
But doesn't Tyrion tell Penny something similar when they're choosig weapons and armor?
This should be on the official soundtrack or played in the end credits! Can't stop listening to it and you captured Tyrion perfectly. Bought it immediately
Awesome song, really fits the book and show character.
I can swear this song was ringing on my mind when Tryrion was talking with Jon in the final episode...

You should do a song about/by Ned Stark, written like an internal monologue he could be having in the moments right before he's executed, talking about his life and about honor and stuff.

I don't really care if all of the cast dies but him.
There are other characters that i like but.. Tyrion rules.
what Tyrion can't do with a sword he does with his words. i'd say from what i've seen of this series, which really isn't all that much, Tyrion is likely the most dangerous of all the people in Westeros.
i think Tyrion its one of the most inteligent, but not dangerous, Varis and litllefinger are by far the most dangerous people to the realm, and the mountain its the more dangerous in combat
Nepheling the reason I think Tyrion is on par with Littlefinger and Varys is he always steps up to the challenge. Look at how much he changed in the first season alone.
@@Nepheling mostly Littlefinger though
@Duolingo Owl i agreed, but just to know, these warriors you mentioned are the very best of westeros, not just some skilled warriors :D, but i got your point
The Mountain, like Goliath of old, suffers from all the problems acromegaly brings. It's why he's so addicted to opium; he needs it for chronic headaches. It's why he crushed heads; it's the same torture he experiences every day.
His fighting style, ironically, belies his weakness; he's blind, so has to get closer to his enemies to squash them. A well placed projectile to an unprotected area of his body can kill him easily.
Even after 4 years, still relevant.

I just started watching Game of Thrones recently, and he is one of my favorite characters. Maybe due in part to this song, maybe just because the actor portraying him is awesome, but he's just such a cool character to watch do what he does best: "molding puppets from their minds of clay" as you put it. I loved this song before I watched the show because it was awesome, now I love this for that reason AND because it is SO FUCKING TRUE!!!!
