    Great explanation, thanks!
    I came to the same conclusion after working with a sighted vs ocular.
    It wasn’t the sight, it was my technique that needed refining, and using a sight has made me more consistent.

    You are right, the aiming sites do work. I started shooting the catapult style slingshots with the aiming sites on them and was able to pinpoint the target pretty much every time I took a shot. Then I bought the Scout XT Slingshot and I was hitting targets just about every time I shoot it. Now I use the corner of the Scout's forks tips as my reference point, the same way the Chinese Slingshot that comes with the aiming sites. I find that by me shooting the ones with the aiming sites on them first did help a lot when I bought the Scout Slingshot, but the ones with the sites are excellent for beginners who haven't shot these style slingshots..

    Thanks. I shot my Bean Flip OTT for a couple of lazy hours this morning. I’m working on consistency and found better results when I was sighting down the length of the top band. Tomorrow I’ll include the bottom band into the calculation.

    The Sights Are Cool But It's Hitting The Bands Whenever I Shot It, So I Decided To Just Remove It, Because My Bands Broken After A Few Shots Near The Sights.

    • @SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat
      @SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat  Před 2 měsíci

      The sights are above the band attachment so the sights should never come into contact with your bands. More than likely you experienced what is called a fork hit. If the latex is between the ball and the slingshot frame, it can be pinched and cut by this impact. A key sign is holes in the latex.

      Have you tried a higer anchor point? That should help with being able to use the dimples. I do some instinctive but most the time I aim.

      It is different for each model. The sights need to be lined up properly with the frame. I would contact the maker for installation instructions.

    Thank you for the video. But can you give me some tips for shooting over 20m? I realized that I need to change reference point to a lower position at the upper fork. But is there a way to always aim at the top corner of the fork? The point is while hunting I can not exactly tell that the target is 20m away or 25m away.

    • @SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat
      @SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat  Před 3 dny

      Faster shooting bands will have the ammo on a flatter trajectory so you can use the same aimpoint but you do need to hold over the target most of the time for distance shooting to allow for the ammo drop. Practice at different distances helps a lot.

  • @JosephGarcia-wm9pf
    @JosephGarcia-wm9pf Před 2 lety

    One could argue, if you're already a good shooter, you don't need a sight.

    • @SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat
      @SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat  Před 2 lety

      Very true! There are many great shooters that do not use a sight or fork corner reference because they have improper technique. I have heard several say that they can aim with a corner reference. My point is only that it is the lineup. I only use them at night for rabbit otherwise the fork corner is lost on the silhouette. Also, they are most beneficial on the narrower gap frames as well where the impact point is floating well above the frame corner.

    With them adjustable sights if you want to shoot farther do you have to extend the sight out farther or push it in closer to the frame when shooting farther distances.

    I’ve been exploring the use of sites for a few months now. I found that incorporating the correct angles into the frame allowed me to hold comfortably while aligning the site. Prior to that it was uncomfortable to force its alignment and often those extra forces threw the shot.

      Yes, exactly my friend! You allowed it to correct what you had wrong in your form and I bet you are a better shooter for it. Yes I am but not real active in Slingshot Forum. Too many armchair experts imo. I'm very active in the Facebook groups. Also, slingshot community forum. I'm for helping folks, not proving I'm right. Besides the great thing with slingshots is all the different ways. There are very few that have a "has to be done this way" to it.

    It's a prefect video. I'm gonna change to OTF. TTF, my target is to lost in the band of sight. I do hit, but I don't like it.
