    Ep 1- I totally hate him. Who does he think he is?
    Ep 2- I don't know if I should like him or hate him. Maybe I hate him a bit more now
    Ep 3- Okay I hate him but can't deny this guy wants to do good
    Ep 4- a lit bit sympathy for having lost his best friend this way but the way he avenged, Could I hate him any more?
    Ep 5- my feelings totally flipped. I was sorry for him.
    Ep 6- I was shamelessly rooting for him and even respected him.

    You missed a detail from John Walker. As he's being overwhelmed by the flag smashers, he holds his shield to his face and focuses his attention on the medal of honour he welded on the inside. This is a reference to the comics, where Walker had a picture of his parents on the inside of his shield. If memory serves me correctly, his parents were killed by terrorists. So the photo in the shield remained him of what he was fighting for. Just like how the medal reminded him in the show.

    11:01 let's not forget that Bucky was not just a blunt instrument of destruction for Hydra. He was a spy, and most likely got top notch hydra spy training, so that he can complete his missions as a total ghost. So him using his brain is a nice callback to the fact that he was technically a spy.

    • @kaizachief364
      @kaizachief364 Před 3 lety +8

      I'd say it's more for his and John's character development, they decide to use the app so Bucky doesn't have to hurt anyone, and John didn't have to seek revenge by death (Or perhaps John knew they were gonna blow up?) Most the time when Hydra called upon Winter Soldier it was because they needed people dead, to make a statement, with maximum casualties not spy work.

    • @transformersrevenge9

      @@kaizachief364 to quote Black Widow, The Winter Soldier was a ghost, and most of the spy community doesn't even believe he exists. You can't be a ghost for the people who's job it is to know secrets, while killing high profile targets. That means that he is highly skilled in spy work, for getting in and out of places, without being seen. It's only in Winter Soldier, where he starts to attack people on the streets, because at that point, Hydra was days away from taking over, so they could aford to have him out and about.

    • @Xthis1s4youX
      @Xthis1s4youX Před 3 lety +8

      yeah it was a nice callback to when he was a spy, but for me the real callback was him being able to track down every single person he did wrong as the Winter Soldier
      from killing a random civilian witness in a mission (Nakajima), years later he tracked down his father to make amends
      from fighting a black super soldier once in Korea in the 50's, he tracked down Isaiah Bradley even when he was deemed dead
      I bet most of his list would be just as difficult to find and almost impossible for any regular person

      @@transformersrevenge9 He was a ghost because everyone he came across was killed. Hydra have thousands of spies, they literally were SHIELD. Winter Soldier was a machine programmed to kill, not subterfuge. Widow's line is more about how he would pretty much kill anyone he came across. Bucky bringing the cake to the get together at the end adds another layer to how much he's connected with this community.
    My wife pointed out an extra layer of meaning in this detail. Bucky would have grown up in time of the great depression, when everyday goods like sugar were scarce. Cakes were considered a commodity and would be saved for special events or for people of particular significance.
    To Bucky, this cake is a thoughtful gift to the community that has so graciously taken him in as one of their own, when he has felt nothing but isolation for decades on end.
