The 992 GT3 is the most important Porsche 911 of all | Revelations with Jason Cammisa | Ep. 03

- Porsche has just announced the 992 GT3, and it's the most extreme GT-car yet, with a wholly reengineered double-wishbone front suspension replacing the regular 992's struts.
This is the 7th-generation of GT3, and the massive engineering signals a sea change for Porsche: the GT3 is now, unquestionably, the most important car in the 911 lineup.
Porsche's GT-Car Division, run by the talented and charismatic Andreas Preuninger, exists within Porsche's Motorsport Department - and has made the most desirable 911s of the last 20 years.
It's time to look back at the 996, 997, 991.1 and 991.2 variants to understand the progression of the GT cars in Porsche's lineup.
At the Porsche Experience Center's Los Angeles track, Jason drives the 996 GT3 RS, 997 GT3 RS 4.0, 997 GT2 RS, 991.1 911 R, and 991.2 GT2 RS - while recording high-quality sound - so you can see and hear just how far the GT cars have come.
Think of this as Andy Preuninger's Greatest Hits, Volume 1.

"Ryan Reynolds! He looks just like that Jason Cammisa guy"
Nice try, Adam Sandler
He is the discount Adam Sandler you get when you order on Aliexpress........
poverty ben affleck
LoL y’all are awful
Ali G if he was 70% less gangsta
I've seen your comments on a lot of other videos. I used to be a Katy Perry fan too.
Alternative title: Andreas Preuninger is the most important Porsche employee of all
How about 'the most important employee in the business, period'? I mean... who has dished out more satisfaction to petrolheads around the world than this guy?
While all of us here would agree, the Cayenne in 2005 alone might have brought in more profit than the history of GT3, GT2 & 911R combined. "Boring" cars need to exist to syphon money from rich buyers to fund the development of great cars.
Hans Mezger might be a contender for number 1.
Not forgetting Lars Kern as well 😬
Ryan Reynolds + Adam Sandler = Jason Cammisa
xD so true
+ Ben Affleck
@@archiveselection7656 Ben Affleck went on a date w drag adam sandler and had a kid and now he is hosting this show. WOAH thats deep...
saids ryan reynolds...
Hagerty do yourselves a favor and give this guy a raise. This is the best automotive journalism in the world.
So glad Jason is cranking out quality content again. MORE CAMMISA PLEASE!
For real. If anyone deserves to be on American top gear it’s him.
Yes! Exactly!
@@alexraaen On any Top Gear or on anything important with cars ... and without.
Jason is a no-nonsense badass. My fav auto journalist. No fluff. Simply the best. If I want comedy I can watch a damn comedy. Cars are a serious business.
such a good episode--really in-depth and exactly what petrolheads want
Who else dropped everything immediately to watch new Jason video? 😂
I just saw it and decided it was time for my "lunch break"
ME! ^^
"Dropped everything inmediately" club represent!
Me...he is the 🐐
Lol I clocked out for my lunch break 30 seconds after seeing the notification.
Dang that 911R sounds good!
Well, from what I’ve seen in the last part of the video, the 911R is also the greatest fun, IMHO
GT3 Touring with Dundon Motorsports exhaust goes to whole other level at 9000 rpm
Yeah, that 911R looked and sounded like the best of the bunch at the end of the video.
911r is one of my dreams
As a german: jason pronouncing ‘Andreas preuninger’ made me rewind the section over and over again to be certain that i heard him pronounce it just as he's a native speaker.
Edit: HE’S DOING IT ALSO WITH ‘RENNSPORT’!!!!
Yes but he said METZGER , INSTEAD OF THE PROPER " MEZGER " 🤔🤔🤔🤔🚘🚘🏁🏁🍺🍺🍺
Yes. Cammisa lived in Germany during high school and speaks fluent German.
Though I love Carwow and old MotorTrend I feel like this is EXACTLY what I've been missing. Good to see Jason back. Compliments to the editing! Visuals and sound are amazing.
He brings a level of insider knowledge, engineering detail that carwow cannot match
Jason is in a league of his own!!!!!
@@MrJuggernautishere Carwow is going downhill imo. Show me the damn race, not Matt spinning shitty donuts, complaining about VAG rev limiters, or literally pointless babbling with Yianni. Show me content, not fucking lore. I miss the old days of: lineup, specs, sound, drag, roll, braking, done. That should take 6 mins max, not 13
Carwow is such a crappy "show"
carwow is trash
Yes yes yes and yes!
Jason Cammissa reviewing manual Porsches, purist ranting and actual engine noise footage without music over it!
I can not ask for more, I am happy!
Thank you Hagerty for still understanding pertrolheads and not forgetting what it is all about! ♥️🙏
Porsche needs to reset the 911 model before it gets so expensive that nobody who can afford it is actually young enough to want one, or vice-versa. Make a rear-engined VW GTi that young people can actually afford.
Yes, just what I always thought. Young’uns can drive it like it’s supposed to. Old’uns can buy it, and just about cruise down the red carpet. Which leaves the press, only they can ever really drive it as is. Useless cars.
The 911R is my spirit animal.
*I know you're not kidding* but still...lol.
my favorite
Now its the S/T 😅
Jason's middle name should be "Content".
Jason "Discount Adam Sandler with the Content" Cammisa.
I know, not as perfect lol, but what a treasure he is to the automotive world of journalism.
With two hyphens!
Professional idiot discount Adam Sandler with Content Camisa
@@streetK4 LMAO his middle name keeps getting larger and larger like every new generation of 911.
"Awesome Content"*
Based on sound alone, that 911R 😍
Yup
💯
YES YES YES !!!!! Finally Jason by HIMSELF unleashing his full passion and deep knowledge of all things sports cars without having to have silly forced banter and jokes and arguments with co-presenters who are not in his level!!!! Fantastic video which was so entertaining and informative at the same time and will inspire a new generation of aspirational sports car enthusiasts and buyers. Everything I wanted to know about 911 GT cars in one video. Everyone always wants to know the HISTORY!!!! Nice one!!!!!!
This is the most informative video I’ve seen on the GT3- lifetime fanatic, owner of 2 911 turbos, a gt3 and a gt3rs
Thanks for adding to my fanaticism
Jason brings these videos to another level. 2YRS... 2YRS and this one still relevant, interesting to see and sooo enjoyable. Thank you and please keep pumping these out.
I grew up on Cammisa's journalism. So glad he has his own show again!
Thank you Andy for listening to us and representing us within Porsche.
Wow I wasn’t expecting this little slice of awesome when I clicked on the video!
I was. Cammisa and I go way back.
@Carving Canyons Same here! :)
That green GT2 RS 😍
It looks stunning!
Dream spec
Perfection
The whole video I was like yeah yeah GT3 is cool and all but can we get a new GT2 RS
Kermit
Everything after 13:55 is basically the citations/sources...and I loved every second of it.
Thanks Jason for convincing me to not write off GT cars as wannabe racer specials after a disappointing experience driving a 718. Glad to hear there's a team at Porsche who actually understands what enthusiasts want.
Came here straight after the BMW M3 video and wasn’t disappointed. Going hunting for more Sunday morning top notch entertainment.
Can we all agree this channel is so underrated? Great content and storytelling
Jason reviewing Porsche...Magnus slapping himself lol
I love Magnus but he's just not as entertaining as Cammisa. I'd watch Cammisa do a review on PB&J, can't say the same for Magnus.
@@bearrett50kal17 I do agree with you on that!
Magnus likes to chat. Relevant, detailed, focused discussions are not his forte. Talking about why he likes how it looks and how it makes him feels is his forte. Jason is good.
I want to go to sleep with those engine sounds at the end. As a die-easy Porsche lover this was like a late xmas gift. Have mercy!!!
Is that u uncle Jesse?
This is supreme content for car enthusiasts. Jason always delivers.
Dear Porsche Andy and team, thank you for letting us live FLAT"OUT! Porsche; purest expression of perfect passion.
the 911 body shape will forever stay untouched as the most beautyful sportscar shape.
7: 27....
Porsche: that is when I took it personal
Yea because the GTR had 2 Turbos under the GT3 none, it wasnt even a fair comparison in the first place
the quality of this video deserves its own tv show
The existence of cars that prioritize sensations and the experience over numbers, like the R and the Touring, brings me comfort
“Yanking on my paddle ain’t gonna lock my torque converter” 😆
Honestly one of the most incredible pieces of content right now! Thank you so much! This is fulfilling my car nut FIX
Not a single channel, I repeat, not a single channel creates quality content to this level.
Fvckin banger of a video. Love getting off work Friday night and catching something like this after a spirited drive home.
This is a well put together video, thanks for the effort Jason!
One question for Jason can we get two minutes worth of you just talking in “German” ?
All his pronunciation was auf den Punkt.
Luv the Cammisa German accent 😆
@@randypobstofficial See even Mr Pobst wants it too Jason!
@@randypobstofficial Ja! Vee vant mohr ov zhat!
Das ist eine wundervolle Idee. 👍
Glad i found this car reviews are good but one thing us car guys love is talking and learning about cars and Jason thanks for that and having Magnus on here is LEGEND also having a collection of all the top car reviewers is great also
Cammisa is the hands down the best presenter in the auto world
Once again, great video Jason! The 991.1 911R is my dream car! Learning the history only makes me love it more.
Cammisa makes some of the best Auto content. I'd love a show of him just fighting with Harris for an hour a week
I really apreciate the traditional format with a presentation followed by uninterrupted driving footage
This is why journalism is important. I know it's not the Panama papers but it shows why there are professionals and CZcams pros. Only a true journalist can come up with this quality content that is so well researched and has the resources to include the cars it's talking about.
Jason is really the best at those kind of video. His knowledge + analysis + opinion are really adding something that is rarely on CZcams.
Great great work !
Great job Jason and team! These videos are exactly what the car community loves! Real journalism and story telling! This series has the same reverence as a Chris Harris and Neil Carey production circa 2015 but with the Cammisa flair. You’re at the top of your game! 🤟
This was symphony rather than a automotive journalist talking about a car. This is the first time I truly felt the GT Cars. Hats off Mr. Jason Camissa aka as handsome as Rayn Reynolds.
One of the most amazing discoveries I have bluntly stumbled upon.
Thank you
Heaven help me
Excellent presentation. I like how you stick to your strengths. Extensive research, exceptional journalism, expertise technical knowledge, with a dab of personality. You are one of the few presenters, where even us knowledgeable enthusiasts learn something new. Simply stated...well done👍
Absolutely bro. The manual transmission is how I will spec my 911 GT3.
Every video should come with 10 minutes of pure driving with no commentary. Awesome job, Jason.
That bonus material with the laps of all those legends? What a video...
This was fantastic. I whole-heartedly agree with the GT cars representing the essence of 911.
This is one of the best videos I have seen in a long time!! Great content!
This is proper motoring journalism Jason thank you sir. I love how you go in-depth into all the history of the cars. This is truly a breath of fresh air. This is coming from a guy that used to read all the car magazines and forums. I have learnt a lot from you
I always thought the GT3 was the better looking of the bunch, but I was really digging the acceleration of the GT2s, and that 911R is a dapper little devil. some of the best content on the internet, we are lucky to enjoy this for free
Love these videos, thank you and keep them coming!
I have two cars. An older one with a manual, and a newer one with an automatic. Is the newer one faster? Absolutely. But if I’m out for a joyride, I’m taking the manual every single time
This is top notch quality in automotive journalism
God bless you Cammisa and give you years to be with us!
I'm so glad I started working for Porsche this year
Or maybe Mclaren, I love both companies
Another great episode. Jason doesn't disappoint. Also, thanks to Hagerty for making this possible.
Great video, you just forgot one thing about why some people want the GT3 to be as fast as possible! It's because it's one of the favourite cars for amateur racers in tarmac rallies or other racing series based on production vehicles. It's a whole package: you get one of the fastest cars on a twisty winding road, you barely need to make any modifications (if any, compared to making a Peugeot 306 rally grade), and at the same time it's one of the most rewarding steers you could ever get behind. If you've got the cash, there's no real hesitation, and more importantly, there isn't really any competition for that market, at that price point.
I'm sorry but how has this video not gotten a Million Views!!! The quality of content and information were simply the best CZcams has to offer. My heart beat went up at least 20 BMP just watching this video... Brilliant content Jason... Thank you Hagerty!
Because it is too good for the masses. Only the strongest and most knowledgeable enthusiasts can appreciate it. I am not kidding.
I see Jason I click as fast as possible
Predictably fantastic content by a fantastic journalist. Keep 'em coming!
Why was watching that bonus footage the most satisfying stuff ever?
Hands down one of the best Porsche GT segments I ever seen. Thanks for making my day Jason!
This is hands down the best Porsche vid, i've watched in a long time!! Congratulations on your beautiful content and thank you for sharing! Subbed and bell's ringin' *)
Top tier content! Thank you Jason and Hagerty team!
Well done, probably the best summary of the Porsche GT history that have ever heard. Thx
Incredible story telling Jason. This surpasses any of the other high profile automotive journalists’ videos based off the same raw B roll footage.
These episodes are so good!
That was pretty damn good.
I drive a 2003 996.2 tt manual and this video was an absolute pleasure to watch. I’m happy to have joined the Porsche family.
A long time ago I worked at a place that specialized in selling Porsches (before the prices went stupid) , and I got to drive quite a few of them including a few 996 & 997 GT3s. Those are some of the best sports cars I have ever driven, and the 997 in particular had me wanting one badly!
Thanks for the great video! Street driving deserves a manual, it can inject a little fun even into a boring commute.
I love how Jason is anti bean counter. You'd think automakers like GM would have learned by now. The car world needs more guys like Andy from Porsche GT Group.
This is an epic job! Thank you so much!! Also this videos should be breaking the internet by now. So much good content, information and quality...
Loved this video! Great overview of the history and then the bonus package of acceleration and onboard videos. Thanks for the content!
Brilliant just brilliant. Jason keep up the good work!
I see a Cammisa, I hit a Like button!
The 997.2 GT2 RS for me is the most beautiful Porsche ever made and a close 2nd is the 997.2 GT3 RS. Both just look timeless
Cammisa is a combo of everything i love about car journalism..his style gives me OG Top Gear vibes
That 911 R (that sound! and a manual!) with that dark green colour. hmmm...
Love Jason content!
Straight goose bumps Jason ~ Awesome productions ~ Bonus footage FTW!!
My favorite Porsche story. One morning in high school I was waiting for a school bus. There’s been an ice storm the night before so there was ice allover the place. At one point at Porsche 914 was cruising down the road towards my bus stop and part or a tree fell in front of it. That Porsche 914 turned on less than a dime and went back the other way.
Jason. Would love to see revelations on front engined Ferrari v12’s
Yes, please! And Alfa 105 series cars
omg! the comparison of sexual orientation to shifting preference is genius.
We like what we like!
What if someone likes PDK and Manual? 😳
@@lifebreath77
Well, that's just greedy :)!
@@lifebreath77 I guess if you like them all you'd be pan-tran…. wait no. Pan-gearbox? Pan-shiftual? 🤣
@@TurboHappyCar Panamera? I like PDK in GT3RS and manual for a Cabriolet. The sexual analogy breaks down for me at this point. 😂
Just as there is no substitute for Porsche - there is no substitute for Cammisa. Outstanding work, my friend!
Love the history and content in your videos, Jason. Keep it up!
Hagerty did well when they got a professional Auto Journalist like you to do their videos Jason. Very informative. A 2 door lightened car trying to beat a big old 4 seater GTR? Really Porsche?
Dear Santa....
Worth every minute, I didn't dare to forward or skip any part which I normally does when watching other videos
Beautiful on track footage as the sun was setting. What a dream day of driving that must have been. Thank you for doing this.
I think the last Porsche I would realistically want is the 2011 GT3
We need to come up with a word for the sexual orientation of "I prefer Manual Transmissions" someone creative plz help
“Stick lover”
I prefer stick over flaps...wait no
The fetish for three-pedal handjobs? Autophobia.
manualstixual
Manual dominatrix...😶
I’ll always prefer driving a manual but the track footage at the end shows why PDKs are so popular for that use. So fast and so much easier to drive fast.
Thanks to Hager’s and Jason for another excellent video!
That black RS 4.0 is a thing of beauty .... man oh man .... wow oh wow
