    I just ordered and they made a kit now based on your video. You made them famous. I didnt even have to say what I was looking for and she knew it was for a volvo penta. They said they tried to reach out to you in the past. Thank you for making this video.

      Will you let me know what kit you ordered. I have done various searches and I get a ton of options to choose from with no pictures indicating what I'm getting.

    Thank for posting this video! My seal finally gave up the ghost. Got my actuator out (pain the ass!!!!!), O-Rings and Things have made a kit just for this purpose. They were super helpful and I got my kit in 2 days. I did have to have a shop install the seal. I could not get it after 3 hours of trying. The re-install if the actuator was a walk in the park. Had the boat out today and NO LEAKS!. Thanks again for the video.

    Very helpful video! Thanks!!! Single lip works great. I recommend an oil seal with spring in place of the wiper seal. A little loc-tite holds it in place.

    Thank you so much!!!! We just pulled the actuator and replaced the Orings. Cost $30 dollars and the shop installed the difficult Oring for us! Again thank you! (three trips offshore and so far all is good.)

      They were exactly what was quoted in the video. The hydraulic shop knew what I needed. They even installed the difficult one. It took them like 2 minutes. Lol!

    Good video bro but man you sure got into that inner seal install. lol If they couldn't get it from that detail there's no hope for em. I subscribed to your page. I have a page too. I'm getting ready to start a new series on what I've been into the past 5 years which is mainly 7 Marine stuff and some other stuff. Good job! I gave you a thumbs up and subscribed. Nick

    My gosh man. I know this is a old video but I remove 5-7 of these every single year marine mechanic 26 years now and I have never removed a exhaust not once. Ive done everything from crownlines to cobalts to glastrons. from v6 to big 8.2L Big Blocks Some hard to get to and some not. But not once have I removed exhaust manifold or a riser.

  • @jessevaltierra
    @jessevaltierra Před 2 lety

    So I bought the kit probably same as you but inner seal was also small like you explained and couldn't get a refund but all I really wanted was to know where to get the inner seal that goes in before the dust seal cover because it needs to be tighter and it was lose after I put it in. I noticed you show a picture of the 4 orings together and I'm sure I also need the biggest one

    • @phamasite
      @phamasite  Před 2 lety

      You need to buy it from Orings and Things. Watch and listen to the video carefully. I made specific comments regarding wrong part bought from eBay.
      So many other boaters have had success.

  • @Suppressiondriver
    @Suppressiondriver Před 5 lety

    I have you exact same actuator and problem so I am gonna attempt the fix myself as you did, the pack of black O rings you have in the video, did you order those as part of a kit or where those a bunch of random ones you picked up, I am gonna try to have everything ordered and here at home as to try to minimize my downtime. Thank you in advance for the video it is very informative.

    • @phamasite
      @phamasite  Před 5 lety

      All you need is the oring i circled on the invoice 16x24x5. Bought it as a single item from oring and things. They have a website. Package from ebay does not fit. They claim it does. My video is choppy but if you listen carefully everything info is correct. i think black package u refer to is from ebay. I would have to watch video again when i have time

    Leaking from hole (plugged) by the blue end cap
    So I just pulled mine and rebuilt thinking the seal was bad. I noticed while part it looked fairly decent. Seals looked intact. I put it back together, plugged the line connections, and worked the ram. I was shocked to hear air sucking. It sounded like it was coming from the blue cap. After looking closer I see there is a factory hole that was machines into the end, which looks like it had been plugged with a threaded plug. Air was leaking quite easily past it (this is also where I saw the ATF leaking out. My question is what is this for? Can I plug it with JB Weld (or some type of epoxy), it is it supposed to breathe? Seems this is the source of my problem but not sure the best remedy.

    How did you replace the O-rings on the big cylinder?

    • @phamasite
      @phamasite  Před 4 lety

      I think you are referring to the big ring embedded in the big cylinder. If that is the case, it's the ring to guide the rod from moving back and forth. I's not something to prevent oil leak

    Hi there, I am having a problem with a leak coming out of the larger cylinder. You have taken yours apart starting at 8:06 in the video. How did you remove the cylinder from the larger cylinder starting at 8:06? I don't want to break mine, but it seems like there is a metal stop which is preventing me from removing it from your picture. Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.

    Awesome!! Thank you so much for this video. I am currently going to tackle this same project soon.
    mine was leaking out the the same spot.
    So just to confirm, the correct seal sing is 16x22x5?

    • @phamasite
      @phamasite  Před 6 lety

      Yes. That is the right seal. It may seems impossible to get it in but it takes some time and you'll get it in. When you put the rod back in, it seems very tight but dont worry. Once everything is put together and you use your steering wheel to turn You won't notice the friction.

    • @scottcosby2840
      @scottcosby2840 Před 5 lety

      Is it 16x22x5 or 16x24x5? I think your comment contradicts your video? Did the Orings and Things product 16x24x5 work?

    • @phamasite
      @phamasite  Před 5 lety +2

      @@phamasite Hello phamasite... 1st great video, extremely helpful. Always appreciate those who go to such extremes to help others. Same issue for me, I have 2 questions. Q1: Can you kindly share your "O-Rings and Things" invoice number? The nice people at O-Rings and Things (Shawna) said she could look up your order info so they can supply me the same rod seal. Q2: Did you also order a new wiper seal (dust seal)? What did you use for that seal. Appreciate you. RandyF

    For the (2) large orange seals i went to a local seal supply house and they are polypak 2-1/4x2-1/2x1/8. PP12502250. the only difference is this replacement does not have a wiper. Will update when back together and running. @phamasite pretty much covers the rest!
