Jesus Christ she sounds EVEN better live than on the studio. This woman's voice is otherworldly good.
She sings this just like the record. Spot on !
I was lucky enough to wait on Karen , Richard and their band at a Howard Johnson restaraunt 1970. They invited me to their show at the Marco Polo lounge in Hollywood Beach, Fl. We sat maybe 20 ft. From Karen. She was lovely ❤ My boyfriend at the time went with me and we married in 1973. Our wedding song "We've Only Just Begun. We just celebrated our 50th anniversary in August. I will always be grateful for meeting them.
grew up on the other side of the causeway. Looking at the Marc polo. I used to sneak in there they had a small arcade with few games. Good times! I miss going to the Rascal House and I remember all the old motels along sunny isle beach and Newport pier. Ocean walk in Hollywood beach. Born and raised in Hollywood and North Miami beach, Hallandale, Dania. LOL your comment just brought me back, very nostalgic. I haven't been back in years. But I know it's all changed down there. The Howard Johnsons, If I remember correctly, it was right off 95. We used to eat there a lot when I was a kid.
The HoJo' I worked at was directly across the street (Ocean Blvd.) from the Marco Polo Lounge. Also waited on Kenny Roger's and his family when he played there . Lovely people.
What a lovely story, thanks for sharing.
@BarryandGary Thank you! it's a treasured memory. When my husband and I sit outside at night and play 60s & 70 s music.. Our song is always in there.
@@linmichaels414 That's really sweet and sounds so picturesque.
No electronic interference. Just raw talent!
Gavin Spalding 😭😭😭
To me they sound better
Jesus, Simple Outstanding
You're right! No Autotune or Melodyne. Singing with her own heart! ❤
Truly one of the finest voices of our time. So sad.
Robert S The best female voice ever in my opinion. The clearest for sure!
@@folkfingerstylefreddy2154 she has no weaknesses just perfect
The finest voice of a generation..
How many of you cannot listen to the Carpenters without being moved to tears?
Because im not bent.
@@bigc7326 I think the lady protests too much. In other words, grow up.
This song was playing on the radio 44 years ago as I drove to the church to marry the very man she sings about.
Yes we'd only just begun, but we are still together, sharing horizons that are new to us.
We are still learning about each other, he 77, me 72.
Awww ... So sweet! Keep living the dream!
Hope you have many more years together
most beautiful comment I've soon in youtube so far. spread the love woman!
Awesome
The very man she sings about? This song was written by Paul Williams and Roger Nichols for a bank commercial. The Carpenters only picked it up to play as a full song afterward. I'm not understanding what you mean.
A voice that will live forever
THIS VOICE MAY COME CLOSE TO LIVING FOREVER...you decide.
Google "JASMINE LAMPORT Breathe youtube"...enjoy.
best comment
in an era when songs had meaning and voices we're not auto tuned
TRUE
boring though
Amazing voice and a VERY beautiful Karen!!
Dan Goodbad Go listen to T-Pain and Bieber, you'll never know good music
berto dela cruz I gave the song a try and I wasn't auto-tuned. I agree with you.
A voice that has never been surpassed. Just beautiful.
Can we all take a moment to appreciate the quality of this footage. The people who remastered this quality, thank you very much. Karen will live on forever and ever!
This is a from a live BBC concert televised in the UK in 1971. The full concert can be found elsewhere on youtube.
@@jamesmmahoney Thanks for confirming what I thought.
Last night I watched the whole BBC concert, and I thought the same thing you said. 😊
Karen!!! ....I just love her.
My idea of heaven is to have Karen sing love songs to me all day
she had an angel's voice
yes...me too!!
True, but defies the meaning of RIP. That's why they left us recordings 😎
...that voice was...just wow
Fabulous Karen Carpenter, a voive with perfect pitch and tone, nobody comes close with a voice like this.
Karen Carpenter, Maureen mcgobern and Amaia Uranga
She just had an otherworldly pretty voice
amazing voice...unlike anything I've ever heard in my 55 years on this planet...
+Robert Degeorge ...and we never will again.
+Robert Degeorge YEP.......ADORE HER VOICE AND THEIR HARMONIES!!!
Yes, pure perfection, I'm a Hard Rock and Metal fan at heart but when I hear or watch Karen sing I get emotional She was absolute pure perfection and full of soul. God rest her soul....
+Robert Degeorge
She's singing live...imagine that.
One amazing voice!
The thing with her voice is it's just so so so clear! I understand and relate to every story...and that's the way music should be. A story with a tune.. Her voice is like liquid gold! So smooth! So clear!
I agree 120%. What I don't agree with is Rolling Stone's Top 100 "Greatest Singers" of All-Time. With #100 just making the list, Karen Carpenter was ranked #94 -- what!?!? I kept listening & finally we came to Bruce Springsteen. A guy I can seldom understand any words he's singing, ranked #37. I stopped listening after that BS. Bruce was a great entertainer. Karen should've placed within the Top 3 "Greatest Singers" on that list & many would say #1 😎
This was on the radio today and it struck me how powerful Karen Carpenter's voice actually was. The length of time she was able to hold those notes and make it sound so beautifully effortless...awe-inspiring. Rest In Peace, Karen.
Wow one of the rare non lip sync or background track performances and it's fantastic.
You can tell Karen is quite tired here but her voice is still pure POWER
Agreed. Good perception. Not at her best. But still better than most!
i am absolutely floored by this live version! Just when I thought I had heard them all and run across this masterpiece! Sure do miss you Karen.
She sings like she just speaks. Damn. Amazing
Karen Carpenter had just a silky smooth voice, she didn't need electronic help, pure talent!!!! No singer today can match the talent she had!!!!
What an absolutely beautiful voice.
Sometimes one of God's Angels does visit Earth. Karen Carpenter was one such Angel.
Thank you Karen Carpenter.
And god took her back to his loving arms and left these beautiful memories
If only she could come back and show people what true talent really is. She has an ability to make a bad day great. Her voice is so calming.
A wonderful voice silenced way too soon!!!
Ikr 😔
Bev Isom If she only ate hamburger!
Salvation is free forever for everyone that believe the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ died for our sins and He was buried and He rose again the third day according to the scriptures, to save us from eternal judgement and give us eternal life.
Believe it in your heart and Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Ghost and you will be sealed unto eternal life forever. Guaranteed!
dehallmo's Thunderhaus What the fuck are you talking about??
Do you believe it?
An outstanding vocalist. One of the greatest ever!
love this song, it makes me think what if shes still alive today, she died at the age of 32 so much of life ahead.. :(
My favorite female voice of all time. RIP.
GOOSEBUMPS! Holy cow, I love Karen so much! I've never got so heavy goosebumps like in 0:20. So clear , so much soul, love in her voice
Its not just Karen's unworldly ability to sing like an angel, THE BAND can pull off this song LIVE ....with all the harmonies!!! On a set for television too. I don't care what genre of music you play, these guys and this band are incredible!! Any musician that has played live in any band can understand how good this is.
I was just getting born when she sang this song live. I'm 48 now and I only can pick a handful of singers that captivates me when they sing live. She is one of them. Her voice is one of a kind.
Usually when I hear the word “remastered” I’m like yeah whatever, I can’t tell the difference. But this appears to be way better than the original 1971 footage that I’ve been watching for years.
I can really tell the difference. Great quality. Especially from 1971.
this is MAGIC in a voice !!
I'm 22 years old and listen to them because times are bad in 2020 and I need simple times and calm beautiful raw talent.
Our Song day one. Now 40 happy years later(august 15 ) we’re listening and saying we Still have just begun
A voice with more resonance, clarity and pathos than any other I can think of. Her singing literally reaches into your soul and pulls you into hers.
A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH ----- THE EPITOME OF LYRICAL MUSICAL PERFORMED BY THE QUEEN OF MUSIC - MRS
CARPENTER - MAY HER MUSIC LIVE ON FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.
Such a beautiful live performance!! Oh, such a voice!!!!
This lady's voice was special and unique. There will only ever be one Karen Carpenter. This music is timeless and will live on forever.
Nice to hear this live.
The more videos I watch of Karen's performances, the more and more I fall in love with her. And at the same time, the more and more heart-broken I feel....... it's PAINFUL! :( I know she's up in Heaven somewhere, singing in the presence with many other vocal legends... not like some kind of "lonely cloud"!
When she sings "so much of life ahead" I cry. Every time. The most perfect voice ever.
My first wife and I danced our first dance to this song 11 September 1971 it didn't last. But this song still remains one of my favorites.
Award winning song, originally debuted in a wedding-themed television commercial for Crocker National Bank in California in the late winter of 1970, with Paul Williams providing the vocals.
A mistake I'll regret for a lifetime, never attending a Carpenters concert .
Those sounds will never be duplicated again.
She stands alone in that light imo.
Same 😥
Perfect pitch.
Perfect timing.
Such a pure voice, a rare talent. She sings so effortlessly. RIP Karen xxxx
Shame she died, fell in love with all her Christmas songs when I was little never heard a voice like hers, before or since 👌
imagine have a voice like that.. imagine sing so amazing effortlessly. Cant relate.
04/22/2017: 48 years to the day/date (1969) that Karen & Richard signed with A & M. Thank you Karen, Richard, and band members for all the wonderful music you created. Many thanks also to Herb A. & Randy M. for giving The Carpenter's the opportunity. Missing you terribly Karen, and I am planning to play/listen to all of your singing and music today.
the voice of an angel....I can listen to their songs and her voice endlessly....
The voice the voice.
***** thank you!...glad you enjoyed....:-)
If she could only have seen her own beauty through our eyes she might still be alive.
Bill Wilson I know..... it's tragic? What does it take to make humans appreciate what they have and be happy with their lot?...We are so hard to please...:-)
She was very beautiful. I had a crush on her. 😊
Maybe my favorite Carpenters version of all the Carpenters versions of this tune. Partly because of the reminder that women used to wear peasant skirts and blouses like that in the early 70s, partly because she showed her very human side by forgetting most of the second line of the lyrics (but recovering nicely), and, most importantly, because Karen appears here happy and light. I'm afraid she did not have a whole lot of that in her life. But what a voice. Woo.
best pop artist ever sorry she died
oh how times have changed, i wish i was born in this era. such class, elegance, and pure talent
My man with the tambourine. Killing it just like he did in the video. This sound would be Nothing without Karen's voice and tambourine man's skills.
Beautiful will never forget her ,even now her voice gets me deep
Silky smooth voice and vibrato. Great full tone voice.
What a voice. Must be an angel...
September 19, 1970 their song came on the radio on our honeymoon back to college
Love the Carpenters. I was born in the late 60's. Karen's voice is unlike any other I've ever heard. Heavenly.
Pure perfection in song and voice is Karen Carpenter !!!
Karen carpenter is the only female vocalist that brings me to tears her voice just melts my heart. Born in the early 70's I was lucky enough to feel her touch at a young age.
She was an angel. Miss.
so much of life ahead always gets me she died so young and they had so much more to do not just musically but brother and sister sharing life
Karen is fantastic - I nearly had said, as always. Don't know if she realized on stage that the wind instruments are a bit obtrusive, but I admire her self-control given the goofy drumming. Oh my God - she would have beaten the pants off that hack. Into the bargain, she would have sung same nicely while playing the drums herself.
Such a great singer to die so young, bless her.
Yes unfortunately she died young of anorexia.
Hope all good with you Angel haven't heard from you in a while.
I'm in love with Karen!!!
She was awesome!!!!!!!💔
I love this woman, the backing singers sing lower than normal in the harmonies and she ends up backing up the backing singers.
Her voice is so gorgeous, such a shame.
love her dress..
Her soul left her body; her soul never left her voice. Incredible!
It almost breaks my heart to listen to this song given the way Karen left us but it is so beautiful I listen anyway. Godspeed to you Karen Carpenter, I know you are singing with the angels now!
OMG i prefer this to 'modern' music!
This is the best it will ever get...angelic tone!!! RIP Karen.
I'm only 18 and I like all of their songs and I'm inlove with her golden voice. ❤❤❤
Hi to all millennials!! 👋
What a voice. Live!
Beautiful
Absolutely perfect
Her voice has touched my heart ... I love her.
gorgeous Karen here for sure. Prime time. An angelic voice and a touch of touch of the deep in perfection. Karen you were magic, your song writing partner wrote some truly great stuff. Will never get tired of hearing your voice !!!
niteboatermusic What I thought was really sad was that they just finished a concert in Vegas and a critic made reference to her being the "chubby sister". And that got everything started and her health went downhill. SAD.
Just unmatched quality xx
CRYING!!!!!!!!
On a whim I looked and listened to this song, so far back in my innocent youth. I saw the Carpenters at the Chevron Hilton. How beautiful. How sad is life. And for me I thought I had only Just Begun, but not to be, so sad not to share when you are getting older. Thank you Dear Karen, it was a special time..
A master class in vocal ability.
Hey Karen...you'll always be in my heart
She’s only 21 years old here. That is unbelievable. She accomplished so much, so quickly. This was our wedding song
This song is being used on a UK tv advert at the moment. At first you think.. that’s not a bad version.. then you hear the original and realise that no one should ever cover a Karen Carpenter song!
Karen was a star on earth and now a star in heaven 💚💚
Those were definitely the days
Beautiful voice tragic we lost her so young
Her voice just melts into your soul
I miss her. I never met her; but I am sad she left early.
Best female voice of all time!
This was my favourite song as a 6 year old back in 1971...used to make me cry with joy, this and AQUARIUS/LET THE SUNSHINE IN by The Fifth Dimension
She had the voice of an angel.
Check this out! I listen to all types of music, including the King, The Beatles, Etc. I have never heard a voice like this ever! And she is live with this performance. Probably one of the best singers ever!
I totally agree 😊😊😊😊😊
This video is a class study on the importance of good tambourine playing. It lifts the song to the next level midway thru. Karen's voice was honey, but Richard's arrangements and accompanyment made it soar.
One of a kind and should be a poster child for what pushed societal norms in the fashion industry can do to people.
