THE BOYS is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and their formidable Vought backing.

I love how they just walk through the gunfire. It's like they are in a completely different world from ours. Our problems are nothing to them.
Sounds like most politicians, celebs, and rich people in general.
@@ShaolinShadowStroke no
We do the same thing here in Brazil.
@Jay Man Rio de Janeiro.
They are in a different world, it’s called science fiction land
I just realised that ordinary folk - like police sergeant must actually love guys like HL. He comes out of blue, is nice and comfortable, praises their work and does the heavy lifting
That’s why society loves him. He plays his role
of course, in the eyes of the public he's their superman
@@Nate-uf4xk no no no.... you sir are the real hero!
@@crimsoncomet3756 proceeds to get lazered
@@mirkosaor you mean you didn’t realize it right away like the rest? He’s literally the most loved and famous of the seven. How dense are you
The cuts are....weird, but the fact Homelanders arm isnt shaking while shooting from the recoil is a nice small touch. (:
or they did not think about it
@@colalightyear7859 he can lift buildings. Of course there won't be recoil
The cuts aren't weird at all?
Nvm i realized you were talking about the fighting sequence with maive
Acute Cloudd idk i felt like it was ok lol
I like how Maeve flinches before she gets shot. Like she knows it's not gonna hurt but the noise still gets her. It's like if someone popped a balloon. People know it won't do anything but there is still a little flinch. They're humans with super powers
not to mention enormous PTSD from her time with Homelander.
And, at the same time, Homelander has no reaction. Shows how inhuman he is.
From my experience using power tools in large empty rooms, I cannot imagine how painful the noise would be from the reverb of multiple gunshots.
They are literally that xd
@@SatoshiAR the plastic sheet and the open door probably helped it
At a certain point, I'd rather just see obvious stunt doubles fighting instead of half a dozen cuts every two seconds.
Making a 5'8'' Dominique McElligott look like she's winning against a bunch of 250+ lb CrossFit-looking dudes is hard work for editors, give 'em a break.
And Gina Carano wasn't available most likely lol
I actually like the cuts...they make it seem like she's making quick blitz
@@DarkCyberElf Crossfit?
@@Jahshehs no it looks horrible
I never understood that scene where she practices with these big guys. She has super strength and durability to the point where we see her stopping a van with her body in the first episode like it's nothing, so fighting against these dudes for "practice", would be like a 30 year old black belt in karate, practising his skills against three toddlers.
It's making fun of superhero movies
It's making fun of superhero movies
@@erickariuki6842 But it's supposed to have the undertone of realism and it's just nonsensical.
@Chandler Burse Again, for her it's like fighting against toddlers. I doubt she's learning anything.
I think they are also superheroes/people with Compound V. There are other superheroes in this universe remember?
My favourite bit is that he flies up there, and then waits for Maeve's lift as the guy shoots up the street.
He couldn't care less about being a hero, he just NEEDS to be seen as one.
Seeing as one gets a punch in, I imagine it's to sharpen her skills and make it so she doesn't get hit on the job and look weak (and effect her ratings). Alternatively, she may just enjoy it
No. In this scene he was just waiting for hi company
It's so weird seeing homelander be so calm and chill and even friendly to an extent compared to the way he is now 😂
How friendly homelander is acting here, it shows how he started to unravel as the seasons went on
He just broke through the guy's chest
The first 30 seconds are like a nod to the Catwomen basketball scene.
and horrible cut and camera work
@@voidling2632 That was the point
Really, this reminds me of bowling
@T O it would in that case since Maeve is super strength and combat training
@T O pretty sure any woman with combat training would be able to beat a man don't be sexist
Given how lazy Homelander is, I'm surprised that he doesn't just fly all the time, like Baron Harkonen from Dune.... just float from A to B. But maybe flying takes more effort /shrug
Speciel effects = expensive.
He's saving that special effects budget.
Probabbly less efort to walk than fly
Just like guru laghima
Maybe walking is still part of his appeal to show ordinary people as well as his peers that he is still "one of them"
Homelander is savage for making Maeve take the elevator instead of just flying her up😂😂
Yeah nice, unnecessary collateral damage worth a couple thousand dollars to replace those windows. Actually kind of fits Homelander I suppose
He ain’t no simp
@@JibsWashere 😐
What if the shooter was a vought employee who had been tasked to create a ruckus to let the Supes come in and save the day? Maybe some poor schmuck who was promised cash or some reward after being arrested and taking the public L.
That's a possibility
I wonder if Maeve will defect and help the Boys like Starlight did.
hopeful but doubtful
I think she did that in the comics.
I don’t think she’ll join the Boys outright, but I absolutely expect her to throw hands with Homelander at some point.
She died defending Starlight in the comics
@@seventeenducks7212 I hope she does. Imagine her interacting with Billy.
Maeve speaks to homelander so much more confidently here than season 2
That's very true
This was before the plane scene. That was her breaking point.
@@CidGuerreiro1234 Yeah, that was terrible for her
@@batcout8787 don't feel bad for her
Probably because homelander is losing it now
I like how the guy instantly gives up when the "heroes" arrive
I only started watching the boys about a month ago, and I absolutely loved every time that homelander said " you guys are the real heroes ". I've always thought that statement was really corny and pandering, so I'm glad that they associated it with a big phony like him saying it all the time to make people happy. Really fits with his character
I think it’s kinda weird how this guy is being an active shooter in a world of superheroes. Do we ever get his motives? He even immediately surrenders kind of implying that he was an actor.
Probably someone trying to get famous. From what it sounds like the Seven parade those they capture of talk shows. Its possible some people want to be famous or infamous that way "I got captured by a superhero". Probably hoped he'd be on the Today Show, not having his heart squished.
Homelander being a sociopath #1652
Gets annoyed that he got blood on his glove after squishing a man's heart.
(Don't worry, you're still my favourite character)
I love "real-life" hero movies. Hancock, Watchmen, this. This is an untapped market and I am all in.
@James Brennan I loved Logan! Invincible I haven’t gotten into but really want to see. Where can I watch that?
@@lumenrisus5963 Logan the film is the best!
Homelander seemed so calm in the beginning
I guess they couldn't block the street during filming as there are dozens of people casually walking about during an active shooter situation. lol
Plot twist: they're also superheroes
Active shooter in the US? That's just a casual Tuesday, happens all the time.
Imma make a headcanon and say that they don't care because they KNOW homelander and Maeve would arrive some time soon
At this point I honestly think they do the cutaway edits this bad on purpose to show how excessive it is used in superhero movies. I mean everything else is excellent so I doubt they don’t know this.
Great point
Let's hope so^^
That would be creative
The show is satire and parodies a lot of bad tropes so it must be the case.
That scene has no reason to exist other than commentary or reference.
It's so blatant and in your face it's hard to accept it was not on purpose.
@@dylanmerediths you have a point, given everything they do is parodies of everything

1:03 "hey i hide directly behind this regular car window where i am perfectly safe"!

That opening was actually Jason Bourne doing literally anything.
It was Liam Neeson hopping a fence
I hate camera cuts.
all the cuts are for making fun of other action movies
@@LordJuz If anything they were necessary cuts to hide the fact that the stuntmen have to hurl themselves more than she is pushing/kicking them away.

I love how she is rubbing her right arm when she walks because her “radius never healed straight”.
What??
I never watched this show but Homelander's big junk is more distracting than the 30 second jumpcuts.
I thought I was the only one who thinks about this during his scenes. 😂 Nobody ever comments on it. I’m glad I’m not alone. Lol! 👀
Now I can't avoid to notice this...
I think our brains have been in the gutter too long, and if someone has a big junk, we can't get our eyes off of it. And also I was thinking the exact same thing as you the whole scene - this is how I know.
now i cant unsee it.
My interpretation is that he's averagely hung and plainly built thanks to never needing to exert himself. All the costume padding is for his ego, which is why he never takes it off
The part when he pulls away and realises his glove covered in blood is a bit like blowing your load then having to clean up the after mess 😆
Oh he definitely had a moment there.
1:50 I love how they’re foreshadowing homelander’s takeover of America right here.
She knows he’ll do the same to her one day...
Martial arts are a form of expression. They can express as much emotion and reveal as much about a character as any dialogue could...
Why Hollywood obscures the “art” part with nonstop cutting is beyond me.
Love the humor and acting though! 👍🏼
That was the whole point of the cuts.
Zaz5y to reveal emotion or to obscure the art?
Gotta be a little more specific with your response, man.
Indy woudl've just shot em.
T O do you know she has superpowers? 🙄
Lack of budget. This show didn’t have that high of a budget for the first season
This scene doesn't make sense how does Homelander get away with punching through a guy. "He shot at us first" isn't even a proper excuse since Homelander and Maeve are bulletproof, they could literally walk up to him and disarm him, not like anyone around is in imminent danger.
Vought definitely put up some other believable excuse or just straight up covered it up saying the dude is alive in jail. Like come on Vought can literally do anything they want
You’re right. But people will be more sympathetic to them if they think it was self defense. Even though the guy was defenseless against them. You see that dynamic in real life when unarmed civilians are shot by police.
Homelander would be the perfect cop
@@lm8499 the parallels this show has with reality is crazy
As fucked up as he actually is. Homelander flying up to the 31st and then waiting the 10 minutes for her to get there was amazing 🤣
I feel like a lot of attention is being put into showing off Maeve's combat ability even when she's not fighting a lot; compared to homelander who doesn't seem to train at all. I think if they ever end up fighting it will last a bit longer than the comics version, and she will genuinely give him a solid run for his money and force him to put some actual effort into protecting himself for once; yeah he's a lot stronger and faster than her probably, but he has no fighting skills whereas Maeve is still a purely physical supe who has a semblence of technique and strategy vs Homelander's brute force
Well well well
I love homelanders disappointment when the heart of that gunman isn't in his hand. Its like he's so impervious to feeling things that he can't feel a beating heart.
@AR - 09PG 704501 Heart Lake SS its that too. But he looked at his hand expecting a heart to be in it.

A nice touch - that just walk through the gunfire, talking about their own business like me with friends walking the street, talking about where to eat. Also, either one of them could have handled that problem by themselves - but the corporate probably wanted both of them to show off "team work"
2:31 what Clark Kent should’ve done to the truck driver from Man of Steel
Too harsh. A trashed truck was already bad enough
That’s what superman could do to almost every villain he ever faced lol.
Is it just me, or does season 1 Homelander look completely different from season 2 & 3?
Bulkier muscle suit + different hairstyle
yeah so much different
As time goes on... The heroic music faded, it hasn't played since ep 2. We know they aren't heroes. The hair is a little more straightened out and more menacing
I feel like the actor got skinnier
These jumpcuts are brutal
I didnt realize they were talking about edgar so soon. That's a nice touch

That’s a dark comment
"You know the drill. He shot at us first."
Did that alibi really work? People know these two are bulletproof, right?
Vought definitely put up some other believable excuse or just covered it up saying the dude is in jail now.
After the support group scene with people just happy a super hero was in their presence while they got critically injured and/or disabled from it.. I believe the public will buy anything Vought sells them.
Well, people DID still shot at them in this show
Been watching loads of clips of The Boys now on CZcams and it reminds me of Brats Bizarre which was about a team of decadent superheroes. The story featured in the short lived British comic Toxic! way back in 1991. The comic folded before the story was completed but a 4 issue series was published by Epic comics in 1994. It was written by Pat Mills who has been called "the godfather of British comics".
The fight scenes are like the only bad parts of the show
There are more bad things in the show but ok

Not a comment on the series itself, but those first 30 seconds shows a director unable to handle action scenes.
Tbh, I feel like those first 30 seconds is a reference to that awful Catwoman basketball scene.
It’s bc of her awful uniform, it’s pressed up and cuts her chest, it’s rly rigid
The amounts of cuts on Maeve's combat training. LOL
3:02 Homelander just wiping the blood like some ketchup on hands makes this so funny 😂
You guys... are the real heroes
Homelander is basically a Pharisee. He doesn’t care how twisted, ruthless, evil, selfish, entitled, and narcissistic he is inside or behind closed doors. As long as the grand majority of people see him as a hero and his public image is clean, and he LOOKS like a hero on the OUTSIDE, he could care less how he acts or what he does when no one’s looking. His exterior is all nice and shiny, but his heart is as wicked as can be😭😂🤣.
Yet hes so pathetic
2:43 "its all ogre now".
2:08 Maeve's costume looks really uncomfortable. I can literally see it poking her skin. Hope it doesn't hurt.
it's crazy how tame this seems now in comparison to later events
I just realized why Homelander made that comment during his speech "You guys aren't the real heroes" 1:17 as a juxtaposition of how his character as changed this is great.
He hasn't changed at all, only how the public sees him.
Looking back Maeve was also almost just as bad as Homelander. It really took the plane incident to make Maeve wake up.
i forgot how horrendous some of the editing was in this show
It is a satire, parody, humor...
That's totally intentional. This movie is pure art my friend.

1:25 badass
The first scene was shot at the Kaneff Center at UTM
I’d love to do it myself but it’s too much work. How many cuts did they make in that training scene at the start? Honestly looked terrible.
All I see is iron fist level choreography

It makes sence why they took away that ability from The deep (In the comics he didn't have any aquatic powers)
