- I worked several nights on this and I must say it turned out very nice!
I don't remember using as many different tracks as I did in this piece.
As usual I was using East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Gold

You may do! Its not much but it does well!
intel Core i5 7500 3,4 Ghz GPU, 2 x SSD 250 GB, 16 GB RAM :) Hope that helped

@@TobiWobi7 That's even more impressive, I mean, do you happen to convert some tracks to audio or let them all midi? I used to have 16gb of RAM also but after a couple of instances of Kontakt tracks, FL studio starts to stutter.

Tobias, how long you have been composing?
i really wonder, how they manage to compose symphony like yours, that switch beetwen family ( string - woodwind - brass ) without sounding weird and mess, but instead they were all sound so full and connected.
Is that any cue for me as a starter?

My advice: Listen to the pro composers and Cover Stuff! That’s how you will learn a lot about the orchestra!:)

Do you use it as similar as most Pop music ? like I - V - IV - V or so ?
because i really confuse i cannot find the cadence in your composition, but it still sound so connected.

@@SilloniusAeldarian I studied classical music once and part of the reason why I quit was because it had to many rules...it felt like all those rules shaped the music too much and limit the creativity. And thats why I love FIlmmusic so much. There are no rules! You can do whatever you want as long as it conveys certain feelings which compliment whats happening on screen.
I dont stick to a form or a pattern.

Hey Tobias! I wonder how can your computer handle that many patches? My computer just lags if I have more than 6... what RAM do your recommend? I consider getting Logic on my Mac and use East west quantum leap there, but do I have to get additional Gig and/ram to process all VST I wanna buy? What do you recommend?
Hmm, I'm using 16 GB auf Ram (DDR4), 2 SSDs and an I5 processor. I can't really recommend anything! Of course its important to have a lot of Ram und a good processor but East West QLSO Gold is pretty old, so you don't need the best of the best to run it properly :)
Do you write modal only melodies, or is it good practice to include non-modal melodies from time to time?
Are there any instruments that commonly use chords, or should it be more of broken up between instruments?
Almost every instrument plays in chords or harmonies! :)

Do you sketch out the whole thing on the piano before you begin orchestrating, or do you write with the full orchestra from the beginning?

Michel Schallenberg i Sketch out the Rough Struckture on the Piano, But also on ensemsble patches to get a Better idea on how it will Sound with Full orchestra! Sometimes the piano sketch doesnt work out when played by the Orchestra. Still Every piece i write beginns on the Piano :)

Hey do you create a track specifically for the keyswitch notes and a separate track for the actual instrument melody or is it something that should just be grouped together?
The perks of using the keyswitcharticulations are that you dont need separate tracks for each articulation. I let the keyswitchnotes in it, so i have better overview. If I had to put everything on paper, i would have to delete the keyswtichnotes, so they wouldnt appear on the sheet paper. But in the daw, you can let them be as they are not making any sounds :)
@@TobiWobi7 Is there a way to fine tune the articulations' level to an exact amount using the keyboard instead of trying to scroll with the mouse?
@@SilverWolf941 i strongly recommend using a midi controller! You can use the MOD-articulations which can be "tuned" with the Modwheel of the midicontroller. The velocity of the notes depend on how strong you push the keys on your keyboard.
When is the best time to edit the velocities, is it as you go, or when mixing?
I think its both! While I record everything with my midi keyboard I already pay attention to the velocity. But for fine-tuning I come back to the recorded data later :)
