      no Grossi hates American . Perna is along for the ride and guilty by association but not the communist Grossi is . When you hear how much Grossi hates America and everything America stands for you stop liking Tom Grossi really fast. The Man believes America is a very bad place and he also thinks meat is murder so that is also something unforgivable for a male human that is not young and stupid. People who hate my country while making massive success off her back can go to hell .

    no rookie QB is a victim of getting to sit before starting. EXCEPT Mike Penix Jr. who is already old and is the 2nd most NFL ready QB in the draft. He and Nix should not have to wait 4 years for anything as a pro. They put in extra innings as college QBs and this would be find if the Falcons took Drake or even the epic failure J Daniels.

    only defense i have for atl is that when cousin's got hurt last year it really screwed the vikings, and look at when aaron rodgers got hurt in NY, totally screwed over the entire team for the whole season. at least this way they have an backup thats also potientially your future qb. i think its a weird way to do it but who knows maybe theyll be the first to make it work.

    Just a reminder that the only 2 rookie contract QBs to win a Lombardi in the last decade are Mahomes in '19 & Wilson in '13, and we've also seen more backup QBs playing than ever(or at least it seems like it). I don't think the Falcons are buying into the whole "you MUST build a team on a QB's rookie contract to be successful!!!" narrative that everyone's bought hook, line, & sinker. It's "a" way to build a team, it isn't "the" way.
    With that said, I don't have much faith in the Falcons as a franchise lol

    as a falcons fan i get both sides of this argument. however i like the pick, QB is the most important position of any sport on the planet. true if we get one play from a super bowl or one play from a ring then this pick will be stupid i agree with tom. again i will still say its a good pick, no matter how good your roster is you aint shit without a QB. also kirk is 35 coming off a season ending injury and we have not seen him throw shit in a meaningful manner yet. we can also get out of his contract after year 2 for only 10 mill which is chump change in NFL circles.

    List of QBs the Falcons have had a chance to draft with a top 10 pick since TF has been there.
    21. Justin fields Mac Jones
    2nd round Kyle Trask
    22. Pickett/Willis/Ridder
    23. Will Levis
    List of FA QBs TF has had a chance to get since he arrived in 21
    Kirk Cousins
    1. Baker Mayfield
    2. Derek Carr
    3. Gardner Minshew
    4. Taylor Heinicke
    5. Jameis Winston
    6. Jimmy G
    Signed the best FA QB they could. They thought no way an accurate, cannon arm and quick release QB with 4.4 speed would be available at 8. Then he fell into their Lap and if judging from the previous 3 years is anything you have to take him because Cousins is 36 on essentially a 2 year deal. QB is the hardest and most important position to get.
    Also if they didn’t sign Cousins someone would have definitely tried to jump in front of the Falcons in the draft to grab Penix.

    I think the Penix thing makes more sense when you remember what happened with the Jets and Aaron Rogers. They went all in on the guy and four plays into the season that season basically ended. And say what you will of the jets they had a backup that had actually played on the NFL level before (though not particularly well) in Zach Wilson, if Cousins goes down who do the Falcons have to take his place? With Penix they theoretically have something to fall back on.

  • @justinchase7663
    @justinchase7663 Před 2 měsíci

    Idk why people are sooooo against it…. If the falcons feel like it’s their guy…. The Kirk cousins deal was basically a 2 yr deal if you really look at the details. Plus falcons probably worried about the nfl taking their first next yr for tampering in the first place so at least this way they can do this a way that has been proven to work. Let a high upside rookie sit and develop

  • @davidely7032
    @davidely7032 Před 2 měsíci +4

    A no win situation. If Penix becomes a Hall-of-Famer 4 years from now after Cousins you wonder why they bothered with Cousins. If Cousins wins a Super Bowl you wonder why they drafted Penix. If Cousins stinks and Penix moves up you question why they signed Cousins. If they bench Cousins in 2026 and send in Penix and Penix stinks ... that's strike one and strike two. Seems like they could've picked Rattler in the fifth round and avoided the controversy or waited a year or two to pick an early round QB to pick up where Cousins leaves off. A first round pick at 8 helps your team now. You can pick a QB later to help your team in a few years ... 2026 draft, 2025 draft, round 5 of 2024. The head shakes. 🙄

    • @joshuacole6543
      @joshuacole6543 Před 2 měsíci +1

      the argument is that the Falcons felt this was their best chance to get a QB without having to trade up, because presumably they'll be in the back half of the draft with Cousins at QB. that feels incredibly risky, and not using that draft capital on someone who could make the team better immediately makes it even more likely that they won't be picking in the back of the draft in the coming years

    • @davidely7032
      @davidely7032 Před 2 měsíci +3

      @@joshuacole6543 I'm just saying that if they had drafted a top notch edge rusher at 8 and Rattler later or traded up next year for a QB they'd be understood. If Penix turns out to be the next Mahomes they'd still have to explain why they spent so much on Cousins when they showed themselves to be more interested in the next QB. There is no outcome that makes every move the best move. If you need Penix now, you don't need Cousins. If you need Cousins, you don't need Penix to be your starter in 5 years when he's a 29 year old unproven rookie. The Falcons will be in a jam when it's time to decide on the Fifth year option when they've never seen the 27 year old play a game. Better to have waited and traded up if necessary.

    • @dexdorrey9834
      @dexdorrey9834 Před 2 měsíci

      @@davidely7032 Well see youre operating under the assumption that Cousins is actrually going to be in ATL for 4 years. In actuality he will be there 2 years, 3 at absolute most. There is less than 1% chance in my mind Cousins is there for year 4 of his deal. His dead money goes from 40 mil post Jun 1 in year 2 to 12.5 mil in years 3 and 4. Which means he aint seeing the end of that deal in ATL. So the plan seems pretty simple to me, you roll with Cousins the next 2-3 years, see what you have in Penix then hand it over to him. And if the Falcons do win at all with Cousins at QB they'll be picking in the 20s at least, which means it will be a lot harder for them to get a QB 2-3 years from now then it would be to just sit at 8 and use 1 pick on Penix.

    • @davidely7032
      @davidely7032 Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@joshuacole6543 The idea is that they knew they were going to take Penix at 8 and spent much of their salary cap on a QB (Cousins) they don't plan on having in the long term. Better to have either drafted Penix and used the money to bolster his offense or sign Cousins and use pick 8 to help the team now ... and get the replacement for Cousins in two years by trading up if needed. It's the timing that doesn't make sense, even if Penix turns out to be great. If Penix is the guy, don't now spend the money on Cousins, the place holder. If Penix isn't going to be used in the next three years, draft someone who helps you now and get a rookie QB in 2 or 3 three years by trading up or getting a value player who falls.

    For the record: the pick makes sense if you KNOW you signed Cousins to a 4 year deal and you know it will be one of two things. 3) year 3. Cousins sucks and is cut. 2) he heals and defies his age and at age 39 you decide to give him one more year. They are acting like they hired a 37 year old man coming off an Achilles tear. Being a Fan of a team doesn't mean you have to blindly support every decision they make. To many Falcons Fans act like you have to shut up & just accept the Falcons Failures & spin it in a Positive Way. The Podcasters doing Falcons Content are obviously doing this because they think being Positive & ignoring the Negative helps them with views. The Falcons getting Penix was a dumb move only time will tell if it works out but it is an ILLOGICAL MOVE & mismanagement of resources. The same people claiming the Penix Move is Cheese also said Ridder was gonna be good & the Falcons should have drafted or traded for Kick Returner Justin Fields.
