Brandon Perna & Tom Grossi discuss NFL news, NFL players, and football.
ThatsGoodSports: / @thatsgoodsports
Tom Grossi: / @tomgrossicomedy - Sport
I think Perna does this on purpose just to get Grossi mad because he's bored
I think Grossi peeved off Perna with his initial reaction, so Perna rode the long haul to drive Grossi crazy. :D
This is why I love GPS. Tom sees the info and tries to make a cohesive opinion. Brandon has a very strong opinion and tries to use the info to fit it. Hijinks ensue.
And right there you have the difference between a scientist and a politician!
@@cubesquared7808 Perna for president
I think Tom needs to create a Texans fan and Ravens/Bills fans skit based off this insane debate Brandon created.
As a Texans fan named Brandon I agree
Perna is the type of person that will say the funniest thing but say the most outlandish stuff that don't make sense in some occasions
Perna is the type of guy who does both at the same time lol
Always shits on Baltimore. Mans a hater.
He’s right tho
You mean in this occasion 😭
I'm a Ravens fan, and I have a lot of respect for Stroud. To be thrown into the wolves like this in his first season and help rally the Texans to a playoff win is very impressive. Both he and Jackson are solid QBs and I look forward to seeing if Stroud can get better in his sophomore season.
Very first game being against the 2023 Ravens is insane
Perna started all this
Mom and Dad fighting again ? This should be good.
Who's the mom
5:23
Tom's growling cause he knows he can't argue. Not because Brandon's right, but because Brandon's not gonna admit he's wrong in this stream.
i fell so much for tom, as a die hard Ravens fan myself i understand his emotion
I agree with Brandon lol
I lowkey agree with Perna on CJ Stroud. 🤣
Likewise
I bet yall thought Sacksonville was gonna be a dynasty, too. I bet yall think Nahmdi Asomugha was the greatest CB of all time. If all it takes is 1 year to buy yall, then that's just sad. What happened to consistency? What happened to sophomore slumps?
Crazy
@@Dee-jd6ym You don't understand football cause the way Stroud played in his ROOKIE year was like a veteran in the league, his adaptability to the speed of the NFL was impeccable and his pocket presence combined with his ability to read the field and throw absolute dimes on a consistent basis makes him lethal. On top of all that he was throwing to complete no name WR's & TE's. Stroud was in a Texans team with mid talent and took them to the playoffs and won against an all time playoff specialist QB Joe Flacco. EVERYONE was CERTAIN Browns were winning because of the experience Flacco. Stroud proved he can adapt to the pressure and his rookie year showed us that.
If Texans get draft more WR & TE's that are certified talent, then they will be dangerous in the playoffs this coming season. Just remember Lamar has a talented overall team Stroud didn't.
@@CHIM3RA. random online telling me what I don't understand, not realizing both of our comments are opinions, not facts. Calm down, bucko. I'm not reading all that, lol. Now, pls shut up
Just look at all the Perna comments on Rus saving the Broncos to see the value of his opinion.
Yeah when it comes to actual football knowledge and a legitimate saying commentary, do not look for Perna.
In all honesty he's just a younger version of Skip Bayless and less obnoxious😂😂
@@WyomingchiefPerna makes skip look both competent and respectful
Who cares what Perna thinks. It's his damned wheel that makes the calls.
Perna is a mad man and I love him for it 😆
I'm more baffled that Perna keeps overhyping the Bills.
Like a few people were saying, The Bills are basically the AFC Cowboys! And I'm beginning to think that Josh Allen is just practically a White Dak Prescott but better legs
Your not wrong
No because the Bills at least made it to a Championship and the Cowboys can't beat good teams. Cowboys are more like the Dolphins and Cowboys get blown out. Josh Allen is amazing. Bills lose close games. Tua and Dak are a better comparison.
@@worfsonofmogh1154when did the Bills reach the Championship game? Cause I legit don't remember.
Edit: I just searched, it was apparently for 2020 season, (2021 game to be more accurate) why did i blocked that game from memory?
Nah, Josh isn’t bad in the playoffs. At worst he is average
Josh Allen isn’t a playoff choker, that’s the difference.
honestly perna kinda has a point. if you just take this year into account and also the fact that the texans run game was god awful the take that stroud could be better than lamar is not too crazy.
I agree but at the start Perna didn’t say “is going to be” he said “CJ is a better Qb than Lamar after 1 year” 0:00-0:07
I think after that game vs the chief's it seemed clear that Lamar had lost something, prime Lamar would have took over that game but he just never took off
@@maybeehh4860yu saying prime Lamar like he isn’t 27 😂😂. This Lamar is a better passer than the one talking about
@DerQuanDoucett yes, and the drops were what truly lost them the game, but to say that Lamar played great isn't true either.
He got sacked like 4 times and only rushed for 50 yards, there were like 5 plays that looked like he was about to break away from everyone and run for 40 yards and he just didn't.
@@maybeehh4860 oh no Lamar played bad. Iv been watching Lamar since Louisville and that’s the first time I ever really just seen him flustered. It’s like he felt the pressure after the first quarter and it got to him and got him out of his game
If Stroud want a rookie, he would've had MVP votes.
Idk about that he needs better stats
@@Y1kes_18 Better stats???? His stats were better than Lamar's!!! Lamar didn't deserve MVP, I don't understand how he won that! It is like the idiots that do the voting for that just looked at what team had the best record and gave it to their quarterback. Stupid. F-in ridiculous. What a joke!!!
@@rf5390 i agree Lamar shouldn’t have won but yes I think CJ needs more numbers
@@rf5390 He blew out every good team he faced (.500+ winning percentage)by double digits all season long in the hardest division in football.. IN A WHOLE NEW OFFENSIVE SCHEME 🤦🏽♂️ He really could’ve been undefeated in the regular season minus the Steelers game where they played their backups if you truly watched them play. Without Lamar, the ravens aren’t coming close to that record. Mvp doesn’t mean best statistical season.
MVP = most valuable player 🤡 🤡
& if you say it’s because of the defense, they averaged 27.7 points per game(4th in the league). Simmer down slugger 🤌🏽🤌🏽
@@rf5390 I mean that's what they were trying to do with Purdy. MVP shoulda been CMC the whole time, but the frontrunner was Purdy until that multi pick game vs Baltimore and everyone overlooking CMC then tried to pivot to "QB shouldn't be MVP"
I’m a big fan of both Stroud and Jackson. If I owned a franchise and had a pick of the two today I’d go Stroud all day
I say this as a 9er fan. This is funny, because I'm of the opinion that CJ had a stronger case for MVP than Lamar. This was nothing like Lamar's 2019 season.
Stroud's circumstances were far worse than any other top preforming QB this year. On top of being a rookie, with a rookie HC and OC.
People always check the baseline stats and see somebody throuvh for more yards than Lamar. Lamar sat the final week of yhe season, sat out like 4 4th quarters, and was winning so much that he didnt need to air it out constantly. Jameis once threw for 5k yards.
Stroud was out for two weeks, lost one of his weapons, and didn’t have half the defense the ravens had, your argument doesn’t stand
Lamar had a superbowl ready team, CJ had a team that was just hoping to have a winning season and to see how their rookies would work out.
That team was Super Bowl ready because of him
@@plugcap2604 He helped to be sure but he had nothing to do with the defense side of the ball which ended up ranked 1st in points allowed and sacks. You don't need to score many points as long as the other team can't score any points.
@@Maverick512000 that would be correct if the ravens didn’t have the #2 offense in the nfl with Lamar lol

@@Maverick512000 ....this is not the first time Lamar has gotten past the first game 🤦🏻♂️
Lets see how Stroud progresses now that teams take them seriously and have a whole season of film to work with. Lamar played better against the Chiefs than Stroud did against the Ravens in the playoffs.
I think you make a debate about any nfl player this is the most accurate reaction you’re gonna get. A argument like this!
Reminder that Stroud didn't throw a single touchdown against the Ravens in either game
Just putting that out there
Put CJ on the ravines in. What do you think they would do?
@@bkpa4455 Drop the ball for the first half of the season and force Stroud to run like they did in the first half of the season for Lamar? I don't think changing Stroud for Lamar changes the teams problems, just the qbs.
Edit: Forgot to mention, get clobbered by the "best defense in the league" Cleveland Browns and absolutely manhandled by the Pittsburgh Steelers with their 2008 aggressive defense. So same thing, again.
@@LilyMaeBlossomI mean the ravens defense is what kept them in games the entire season, they never had to worry about lead changes, only offensive issues, look at the chiefs game, shutting down mahomes for an entire HALF
I love when Tom starts yelling he's got a back away from the mic
*y r we comparin a QB to a RB?*
I'm gonna need performance stats in the regular season to be reflected in the postseason because i still can't understand how teams that were at the top in sacks can't sack Mahomes behind a Chiefs Oline that was at the top 10 in holding penalties.
As a Texans fan, I am so nervous guys like him having all this expectations for Cj and he isn’t go to quite live up to it.

Perna I love you. Only one with the guts to say that
To me the best 3 qbs this season were Love, Mahomes and Stroud
Perna is right. MVP is a POPULARITY contest. Jackson is great, but he's not close to the best in the league.
Let's go 🤘
I mean the fact cj stroud was even in contention for mvp in his rookie season is just insane
Facts and compare the Texans roster to Ravens yet CJ took them to playoffs and smoked a vet playoff QB Flacco. Imagine if Texans had a stacked WR & TE room. how many TD's would he get? what would be his pass yds too?
Facts
For one week stroud and lamar had the same number of playoff wins
yeah, for one week Mac Jones and CJ Stroud had the same number of playoff wins too,
man talk about cherry picking stats haha
And Lamar ended his season too........
@@devinm9245 I’m trying to show how easy it is for newer qbs to catch up to him. A rookie is now only one game away, and for a time had tied him. It takes a minimum of two seasons to catch Burrow or Allen, and one of those years has to include a super bowl appearance.
@@SparkyForce is that what you are really trying to show cause if you are doing it seriously you are making a joke out of the comparison

Vince young had a phenomenal rookie debut, then left the tires invthe driveway the rest of his career
One of the few times they were actually talking football.
Perna is 100% right. Big 🧠
One year sample size, 2x MVP, Lamar lacking good WRs… love ya Perna but its a non starter argument
Lacking good receivers? Then take one MVP out because he had Zay, OBJ, and Andrews and Likely, they just didn’t have a true RB, lamar also had a historically great defense💀
I freaking love Perna! He keeps things interesting. And I love his shade towards my Chiefs 😂😂😂
That “That’s debatable” came straight from brown vs black bear debate
Lamar has proven to be the best magician in the league his disappearing act is amazing mvp to where the hell is that guy
He’s really not. As soon as they figure out QB protection penalties his career is done and over. Lamar wouldn’t last one full season in an actual physical nfl. Josh Allen is the same story. Both big sissies.
@@libidinousbear4563but you also see that most of the time mobile quarterbacks don’t really lead to winning football it is rare when a mobile quarterback won a Super Bowl most of the time is pocket passing quarterbacks that have the high amount of winning
This is a rare occasion that I’m siding with Perna, that AFC Championship Game soured me on LJ, it wasn’t all on him, but I don’t have any faith in him to go all the way. CJ however had a great rookie year, I think he’ll go far with the right team around him.
As a Texans fan, Cj isn’t better than Lamar currently
What do you mean it soured Lamar? Lamar still had above 500 completion rate that game, and nearly 7 yards per rush. Just because they didn't call runs while his receivers chose to barely do anything with the ball (or when they did, they got taunting for it) doesn't make it Lamars fault. Hell he nearly led receiving yards in the first half! How does a QB lead passing, rushing, and receiving? There's something wrong with that team as a whole.
@@LilyMaeBlossom he just wasn’t Lamar. Even in other playoff losses, he didn’t look like the moment got to him. He didn’t look like himself.
@@LilyMaeBlossomdid you forget that Lamar had an entire half to do anything at all? The Ravens HISTORICAL defense shut down PATRICK MAHOMES for an entire HALF, let those words sink in as to how great of help he had on the other side of the ball💀

Brandon "You gotta pay the Troll Toll" Perna
You're right, Perna, we don't know CJ Stroud's ceiling. It is extremely possible, if not entirely likely, that he has already hit it. We also don't know what his floor is and we don't know if he isn't already hurtling towards the ground at speed.
Remember, Mac Jones was a rookie once, too.
It’s so much fun to be a crazy fan isn’t it
Cj going to keep on growing he took my team that was filled with unknown players and made the most of it
What is this tier list based on???

Prandon is unironically such a casual lol
Brandon is right, Lamar is just running back that can throw the odd pass, LETS GO BRANDON. FYI you're both dead to me, Washington at 29? please.
I would 1000% agree with Perna
Only thing scarier than the curse wheel is Perna being on high on your team and or one of their stars
The Strouds are holding perna hostage. Brandon blink twice if you need help
Compare both qb’s rookie season. And see who is better
Running QBs are best in their early years, when they have the most speed and quickness they're ever gonna have. Yes his passing accuracy and reading defenses will get slightly better, but it won't make up for the predictable drop in running and escapability coming in the next few years. Every running QB goes thru this, but somehow there are dummies out there that can't see the pattern.
I think this is the first time I side with Perna here
Don't worry perna, you don't need to keep worrying about the Ravens. The Broncos aren't on their radar
I rarely agree with Perna's takes and this is why. He needs to share the grass he smokes with all of us! This is why I can't take GPS seriously anymore.

My pre-draft CJ Stroud comp was Tom Brady.
This comment section is crazy. Stoud is gonna be great with the potential to be top 5 but Lamar is already top 3 and a 2-time MVP.
And to those discrediting lamar based on his performance against KC, Stroud put up 175 0TDs and a 57% completion % just 1 week before.
Yall were not tryna apply this logic to lamar in his 2nd season that's bull
Hilarious that the Bills get thrown into the middle like some kind of child caught between two parents trying to decide which of their 4 kids is best while ignoring one all together.

Hey Tom I love me some Lamar but I agree with BP
Yeah im with Perna here. Lamar didn't deserve MVP, Josh Allen was more deserving and im saying that as a fins fan. CJ was just on the worse team. Put CJ on the ravens and they goin to the bowl
cj was the main reason they lost the wild card game
@@nickweber1388 Exactly. Stroud got them to that point, but his issue is simple. He cannot beat Jim or John Harbaugh. And this goes back to his time at Ohio State.
i wouldnt say the Texans were that much worse as a personel scenario, it really felt like a young army running into a battle they werent ready for. their players need experience and their coaches need to be a bit better. Football fans said this same thing back in 2012 just so you know, and we all know what happened.
I have to agree with Perna here. CJ is already a better passer than Lamar.
As far as arguing rushing stats, just keep Lamar in the pocket and force him to throw and that's the formula to beating the Ravens.
