Had a feeling they'd say San Diego. Went there first time last November and that's where my heart is. Built a Tiki bar at our cabin in the Poconos with 23 tons of Maryland beach sand, working on building my tropical rainforest oasis On my list right now is a waterfall with a grotto, though I'm limited to much less space. This is amazing. Absolutely inspiring!!

Yes I bought your 3 books and got the free stuff as well. Is there a link to the lava technique? I’ve been doing it here in Hawaii with rock salt in the wet mix but it’s messy. I would love to try your method
@@michaelcoulson6483 the simple trick is to use a spray technique. I use either a simple mud hopper, (see "Texture Coating Faux Rock at Vista Job" on my CZcams Channel) or my big mortar pump. The "spitting" of the material gives a pitting like surface similar to lava. I also add color to the mix to achieve the dark charcoal or deep red look. Ruben Padilla I use colored Nelsonite Dive N Slide on raw cement or clear on a colored cement slide. Sticks better if no paint underneath the coating. Hope that helps. Thanks for your question! :)
I'm envious of this project because I want to one day have something similar at my residence.
Looks good, but those plants within those planters are going to be hard to maintain/care for. What's worse is that the homeowner ( if he does it himself) may injury himself if he slips and falls.
Also the fact that the TV appears to be only visible if someone is lounging on the cushions, versus sitting at the barstools. I would have done things differently but I guess the family wanted it like that.
Hey Joseph, Thanks for the message. The planters are all rigged with irrigation so shouldn't be to big of a problem to maintain. And people should always use caution when using any pool feature for sure. The TV is designed for people on the couch/bed thing we built in the back of the cave, (they had a custom cushion made for it) while the people under it would most likely be chatting with people sitting on the bar stools in the pool on the other side of the "bar", (pool edge). Awesome work. What materials is used for making rock
Thanks! For the materials it's pretty simple. Concrete, Portland cement, sand, steel rebar, burlap and pegboard for backing the inside of the rock shapes or bubbles and exterior latex house paint and/or concrete acid stains. That's about it. What is the "slippery stuff" you mentioned for the slide?
Mike I use Nelsonite Dive N Slide. Either solid color on unpainted surface or clear on a colored cement surface... Hope that helps. :)

What do you use to seal the rocks ?
Exterior high quality latex house paint. No sealers as I've found them in the past to change the color and sometimes increase slipperyness. There are good quality concrete sealers for sure. Thanks for the response Terrie! The 100K was for the rock feature only FYI. Unless you have some unusual circumstances your 300+K budget sounds very doable. Pool location, size, features, (a spa, or other pool details) site access, choice of finishing elements, (coping stone, tile, lighting etc.) all contribute and impact project budgets as you would expect. May I ask what part of the country you're in and do you have any specific design ideas for the pool itself?
