    Our visit Rio De Janeiro travel guide documentary, before the Olympics of 2016, covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (best restaurants and street food), top museums and Rio at night. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities you won't find in a typical Rio De Janeiro tourism brochure or Rio De Janeiro, Brasil city tour.
    25 Things to do in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil Travel Guide and Top Attractions Transcript:
    First up, we started with the city’s most iconic sight: Christ Redeemer. We boarded the train as soon as the station opened and made our way to the top of Corcovado Mountain. Sometimes the statue can be shielded by fog, but we lucked out with beautiful blue skies and panoramic views of the city as far as the eye could see.
    For a bit of colour, we headed over to the Selaron Steps, which is a tiled staircase created by Chilean artist, Jorge Selarón. Initially Selaron would scavenge construction sites looking for tiles, but in later years as his work gained notoriety, travellers began donating tiles.
    Since we chose to stay in the neighbourhood of Ipanema, we ended up spending quite a bit of time at Ipanema Beach. We noticed that this beach was really popular for beach football, volleyball, and surfing. And of course, what makes this beach so iconic are its two mountains, known as Dois Irmãos. If you come here on a clear day, you can catch a killer sunset.
    No visit to Rio de Janeiro would be complete without heading up Sugarloaf Mountain, so when the skies finally cleared that’s exactly what we did. We paid for our tickets and boarded the cable car for a somewhat unnerving ride up. If you’re scared of heights, this probably isn’t the attraction for you, however, if you manage to make it to the top you get some really cool panoramic views of Rio.
    Copacabana Beach is the most famed beach in all of Rio de Janeiro and if you were to visit on a weekend during the summer months you’d find that the place is packed beyond belief. We happened to be here in winter so things were a lot more relaxed, but that didn’t stop visitors from braving the waters.
    We did a favela tour to Babilônia and Chapéu Mangueira. On our tour we saw lots of street art, learned about life inside a favela.
    And that is a wrap! We hope this video will give you guys some ideas of things to do in Rio de Janeiro on your visit, and for those travellers who have already been there, feel free to add your suggestion of cool activities and attractions in the comments below.
    This is part of our Travel in Brazil video series showcasing Brazilian food, Brazilian culture and Brazilian cuisine.

    Nice guide, but as a local I’d like to give 3 advices: 1) Don’t buy anything in “confeitaria Colombo”. You pay more than twice for things you can find in any corner, as tasteful as there. 2) Visiting the slums (or favelas, as tourists like to call) is like going to LA and visit the Skid Row neighborhood. Why? 3) DON’T take taxis! They will always try to rip you off. Use an app called “99 taxi”. It’s just like uber, but cheaper and with more drivers.

      Glad you liked our most famous city. Sao Paulo is the Brazilian New York, but it's very underrated, not many people know how exciting Sao Paulo can be as long as you know where to go, whatto do. And if you're rich, I think you can have more fun (food, parties, socializing) in Sao Paulo than in NY, though I'm biased to say it since I hate cold and I grew up in SP. Ok, I have to admit I've seen foreigners complain that they couldn't connect with people in SP lol.

    I learned a lot from this. (Easy, since I only knew of crowdy beaches and a noicy carnival in beforehand.). But now I saw all the nice areas, all the beaty and relaxing activities. Something exiting or beautiful to look at wherever you turn your head. I guess there are not-so-nice neighborhoods there too, of course. I googled to get more info since you had me started, and found that Portoguese royalties fled Portugal after the Napoleon war and moved to Rio in 1808! They threw some of the inhabitants out of their houses to get enough places to stay. Now I know more about this big city when the olympic games start. Thanks!

    • @samuelandaudrey
      @samuelandaudrey  Před 8 lety +2

      Thanks! Yeah, the city doesn't have the best reputation but I think that is largely because of misinformation. The neighborhoods downtown are vibrant and bustling and the parks are a wonderful escape. That is fascinating to hear about the history. I really hope the Olympic games are a success in Brazil :)

    I'm brazilian and I love your channel, hope to see more great videos like this in Brasil! Tust a note, even though the Ipanema beach is amazing, there's no sunset to watch there because all brazilian beaches face the opposite side relative to the rotation of the Earth. But you can see amazing sunrises every day!

    I've seen many of your videos prior to visiting Asia and they were pretty helpful. Nice to watch a video about my own city now. Awesome and fun to see your impressions. I would recommend adding a few museums like Chacara do Ceu, MAR, Museu Nacional (the best on Brazil's history), MMA and in a near future the MIS in Copacabana, Also, the new Olympic Park in Barra and the beaches of Prainha and Grumari in the west end of Rio. Good job, guys !
