I'm Brazilian, born and raised in São Paulo, and videos like this make me so emotional...... COUNTING the days to go back to my beloved Sampa! Love you!
Going back? You left because it is so great and safe? 😂😂😂. NO. You left for money..and a better life !
Fascinating city. I think Sao Paulo is under rated as a tourist attraction. Regards from Sydney
going to SP in April :) thank you very much for all the information on the video!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Just don't go to the central Municipal Market, it's a place where even Brazilians from other states get scammed. You'd better go to Mercado Municipal da Lapa or Pinheiros.
Guys come in visiting São Paulo, city. don't forget also visiting stadium São Paulo football club
After reviewing your video I went for 10 days. It was one of my best trips and the food was amazing especially for someone who is GF so much variety
Wow!! The food diversity caught my attention aswell. I’m planning on taking a solo trip myself over there. What part of SP did you stay at?
@@Jonathan-ob5mx I stayed at Consolação
Avenida Paulista, 2239
Cerqueira Cesar
São Paulo - beautiful hotel
In all of Brazil, the food portions at restaurants is huge.
The food portions are usually designed to be shared between two or more people, that is why they seem big to an unassuming person.
I would say the biggest mistakes you can make in São Paulo is not taking Ubers at night. I trust them way more than a random cab you would flag in the street. There are quite a few other ones but you mentioned them. Well actually, one other is not going up a high rise platform to view how immense the city actually is. We went to Farol Santander, well worth the price. Btw, Alex and I were staying quite nearby the mercado when we went.
I would say, take UBER BLACK in São Paulo, at least i felt safer, and is not that much expensive
@@extsaojose I would say, Uber Black is the best option by far, best service and quality of cars, in general. I always use them when I go to SP.
My home city ❤ so happy you're exploring Brazil!
Great video as always! Happy Holidays to you and you family!
Please be careful about accepting the "free food" in Mercado Municipal. It is usually a scam and they will charge you insane amount of money
They will really offer food for free. But then they try to convince you to buy overpriced stuff. Tourists feel obligated to buy, because the guy was nice, but one can just refuse.
Be careful about what you accept as "samples" .. they will pester you to buy from them and sometimes very aggressively. @@mattvideoeditor
This is the most useful video I've watched so far to prepare my trip to Sao Paulo! Thank you!!
Will be visiting Sao Paulo in Dec 2024. Staying at Pestana Vila Mariana. Any suggestions to commute taking the metro are welcome..
You chose a good location, it's close to everything and away from the noise of the parties in Pinheiros or Paulista. The subway is close and practical but Uber is cheap and practical in this region of São Paulo.
oh and a tip, don't go to the central municipal market. It's a place where even Brazilians from other states get hit, there's nothing good there. Go to the municipal market in other neighborhoods
@@sadaofutaki Thanks a lot. Great help.
Beautiful video. Good luck to you.🎉Merry Christmas
Obrigado, Mark!
Hey Mark, great video
You are amazing! I loved your video you being joy well your words... I love São Paulo ❤❤❤
Italian food in São Paulo is great! There of course is a "mix of Italian and Brazilian food", but there is also authentic italian food, just like in NYC.
As Italian I totally agree.
Going to brazil for a month in 3 weeks, will be in sao paulo, rio,Brasilia and minas Gerais, would be happy to hear any recommendations from people for things to do in any of these cities, thank you😊
Take me with you. 😂😂
love when you are here in my hometown ❤
Hey! Love your videos! I was wondering where is this background that you're speaking from? I'm going to Sao Paulo in March and love walking around + exploring different residential neighborhoods so get a taste of what of what local living is like. This neighborhood looks beautiful! Where is this place?
Traffic in São Paulo is MADNESS
I love your videos.
After São Paulo you canadians/americans will love your home town trafic jam
You are 100% correct
Hey, the last tip is the best
Fico muito feliz em saber que você faz parte da nação tricolor
Seja bem vindos ao Brasil todos vcs 🌅🇧🇷
I can't believe you was in here and I didn't saw... I'm s big fan of your videos!
Favorite city for living like you said, not really for passing through
This man reviews literally everything!
I try 😉
@@woltersworld the last one of your videos I watched was you reviewing an NFL Stadium! Keep up the good work - your content is pretty helpful and informative!
Thank you for this very helpful video

There is a train from the international airport to the center for R$ 4.40 and approximately 30 minutes to the center of SP
It's been rounded up to BRL 5,00 but still a good alternative.
You have tô prove the "Prensadão". Its a hot-dog with many things like corn, pea, quaill egg, raisins, mashed potatoes and straw potatoes. They are awsome!
Technically there is a train to the airport. BUT not really. Its a hassle to get to and it drops you off way before the actual airport and requires a transfer. Use the airport bus or if there are a few of you cabs and Uber. Traffic to the airport can be gridlock.
The best part of SP is our food ❤
No no no...Its the women😎
E a programação noturna, os shows nos SESC e os protestos na Avenida Paulista
and the women.
Belo visual do condomínio Ithaye/Alphaville…vai morar aqui novamente?
São Paulo lo amo mucho❤
Whoa! Dude's got some knowledge to spare! I'm impressed!
São Paulo isn’t a place for sightseeing. In fact, I would discourage anyone from visiting the Sé (cathedral) district as a tourist as it can be quite dangerous. The place is full of crackheads. The same goes for Luz and Teatro Municipal areas - the old downtown is mostly degenerate, unfortunately. Instead, be around Paulista, Jardins, Augusta, Vila Madalena, Roosevelt square, Pinheiros, Vila Madalena etc. In these neighbourhoods you will find a lot of cultural and food attractions, bars etc. And remember, São Paulo has one of the best nightlifes in the world. Enjoy my city!
Not really. Just be there during day time and go to some tourist places by UBER if at night (like Mirante Italia). Been there several times with my wife and two sons and it is really worthy it. Just do not flash your jewelry and keep a low profile. Se Cathedral is very beautiful inside. Luz is a historic Rail Station built by the English which is very busy (and heavily policed so safe) and Teatro Municipal is on a very nice neighborhood. Many look at those building as as degenerate just because they are old (1800s) but it is not true.
Nova York tb!
Top
são paulo’s not a beach city but there are a lot of nice beaches about an hour away, most of them in the north side of the coast
also! if you stay in central areas and use public transportation, you take 35min tops to get to places
Here I am, a Brazilian getting tips from a gringo. Awesome video, tks!
Question, do you have a video
About bello horizonte
Wolter in how many countries have you lived? It seems like everywhere 😅
11:35 Sounds like the parking mafia. Nice car you have there, it'd be a shame if something happens to it.
Yes. They are known as 'flanelinhas' and their activity is ilegal, despite they are still present in many cities.
The problem with food samples is that I have food allergies and I can't explain it that I can't take the chance, eating a food that's new to me. Whatever they're selling, they're going to tell me that it shouldn't be a problem - obviously because they want to sell it but "just have a taste" can be a problem. They don't get it.
I have the same problem with food allergies so I fully understand what you are going through! It isn’t fun especially when people do not believe how serious those allergies truly are!
Get yourself a Brazilian partner that knows your allergies!
Maybe you get a guide. You can also make an 'alergy card' in Portuguese with a list of your allergies. I can help you with that if you want.
❤❤❤❤
You are right Wolters ! São Paulo it is not like London, Madrid and European Cities, it is not a walkable city... It is more like a indoors city! You only experience the potential of São Paulo if you know people from the city or you live in this city.... It is difficult to have a good impression of the city if you are just a tourist from outside, you must know where are the best places to visit, the best places to eat, to shop, etc.... And often they are far away from each other!
I agree with everything you said in the video! I grew up in São Paulo until I was 18 years old and I miss it a lot! One important correction is mentioning Palmeiras as the city’s best team! 😂
Until you became an adult ! Then you went somewhere safer to live? 😂😂😂
@@BCFC1875Cruzeiro lol. Yes! Generally speaking if you want to raise a family don’t do it in the capital
The Wolters could easily pass as Brazilian family.
This is why I love motorcycles, to avoid the traffic.
❤❤❤😮😊
In Rio, you are a Vasco fan, Mark! 😂
The football museum is superb
Alguém conhece a música “vaya, vaya, aquí no hay playa”?
No question that S.P. is the food capital of South America. Some of the best food I’ve ever tasted has been at restaurants here. The Jardins area is overall the nicest and safest though you still need to be careful especially with your phones. Uber is ridiculously cheap and overall reliable. I’ve never had any problems checking in at GRU (business class) however immigration on arrival can take ages so if you’ve got a connecting flight allow at least 3 hours layover.
São Paulo é a capital mundial da gastronomia vc encontra comida do das nações do mundo tudo, palavras de um japonês de uma mult nacional que andou o mundo.
Sao Paulo is muy Bien
Muy bien is spanish. In portuguese is Muito boa.
I am Brazilian living in the US for a long time and I can’t get over that the toilet paper can’t be flushed in Brazil. It is really gross. Also, the “flanelinhas”, the guys that extort money to “watch” your vehicle in the streets, bothers me a lot. You have no choice but pay them or “else”.
I am Brazilian, and never heard that “toilet paper cannot be flushed” as a general rule. This may be a local problem, not a country issue. In my house and everyone else I know flush the toilet papers.
@@Andrelix67On many places toilet paper really cannot be flushed. It depends on the local sewage system, you just have to ask whenever you go to a different place because believe me, you don't want to have a blocked toilet. Sou mineira de BH.
From a foreign perspective, about flights, you are really on the money. The problem with Brazil is that most of Foreign flights not only depart only from T3 but all round the same time. It is usual for T3 to be very quiet on Departures in the morning and lunchtime just to be literally hell during later afternoon and evening when the foreign airlines have their flights. In Fact, the worst time to depart is between 16:00 and 20:00. Airport is very busy, shops are crowded and it takes ages to go through security. Patience and arriving early is key
Vamos SP! 🔴⚪⚫
I think you should go to Namibia.
No beaches in São Paulo?
Neither does Washington DC!
São Paulo state has 400 miles of coastline and you can be on most beaches within a one or two hour drive either by car or bus!
As the city of São Paulo like Washington DC itself is not on this coastline it's absolutely worth it to visit and enjoy a few days on one of the marvelous beaches like Ubatuba or Felix beach as well!
how many languages can your kids speak?
To avoid the traffic. take the Metro!
Is it safe though?
Many that you say is true. Brasil is a nice place inside your diversity. Ps: PALMEIRAS💚🐷🏆🏆🏆🐷💚👍
but for real the safety situation sometimes it would got a bit too much for me, as a solo female traveler i really can’t walk on the street after 9, especially don’t use your phone, not even try to use google map on the street at that time of the day, it can get very dangerous
There is an extensive subway system. You have to be a gringo to not use the subway + bikes.
Curitiba is the Best City in Brasil... without a doubt.
I was in SP for couple of weeks once, no major issues, dangerous at Night don't go out alone unless u are Stupid as me
I´m from São Paulo. Don´t forget to eat a Pizza when visit us. And try to see a soccer game at Arena CORINTHIANS to know what is the real brazilian soccer!
Hi there I just recently spent a week in São Paulo and I didn't particularly like the Mercado Municipal. Just don't buy fruit there, the prices are ridiculous. Don't feel bad not buying anything after these fruit vendors have thrown any fruit imaginable at you.
Everything else was great. I especially liked Liberdade and Vila Madalena.
The best advice for any tourist in Brazil is don't wear bling blings, wear pants/shorts with zipper pockets for cellphones and try to fit in and be respectful to their customs.
Is fake gold jewelry okay? Or do you recommend zero earrings & necklaces?
@@VKatI'm from Rio and my advice would be: wear accessories that are plain to see artisanal, handmade things. Like twine, cord, shells, stones, etc. Because some fake jewelry or inexpensive gold foiled will still attract attention. I go around with simple stud pearl earrings or small golden hoops and haven't had trouble in Rio or BH. SP is supposed to be a little safer overall.
@@samanthafox3124 Tysm!!
Vai tricolor!!!! 🎉
I'm surprised you didn't make a video on Dubai yet. Would love to see you exploring the arab countries.
Why are people crazy with Brazilian beauties? What’s the deal with them? 🤔🧐
CORINTHIANS!!!!!!!!!!

Lebanese food! great!
I visited the big fancy shopping center in Jardins as I usually dress (like a homeless) and I got several really nasty looks from some older ladies, lol :D
do they speak english or i have to do a Portuguese language course?
5% of people of Sao Paolo speaks English. Mostly downtown from very touristy areas like Avenida Paulista.
First mistake: coming to SP. Only good thing is restaurants in the fancy neighbourhoods.
hahahahahahahahhahahahahha Cheer for Sao Paulo F.C for sure!!!
Sao Paulo has beaches ! Not In the City of Sao Paulo but the state of Sao Paulo has beaches... fact. Santos for one !!!!! So saying Sao Paulo does not have beaches is not correct, it does.
Lol. Spfc is lame, but nice catch, kkk
Tricolore!!!!!
The only mistake these blonde girl tourists made when they come to Sao Paulo is not become my girlfriend! But its still in time, my ladies!
Aquele que nao nascer de novo nao pode ver o reino de Deus Joao 3-3 O SANGUE DEUS TE AMA
Palmeiras não tem mundial
Brazil is not a safe place. Better visit other countries.
wolters use to live everywhere he even lived at the south pole for 2 years in a igloo he got pissed off cause there weren't no pies there
