Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazilia, Foz do Iguazu, Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Belem in Manaus, Fortaleza, Petropolis, Sorocaba, Juiz de Fora, and many small towns and cities, etc. This was because of the nature of my work that I was able to visit many cities and places. São Paulo was the state that received the most Europeans until the 60s, so you will find descendants from all sides of europa, also many Slavs, Asians, mainly Japanese, Chinese and Koreans. Often, the media portrays Brazil in a negative way to the world, of course there are many problems, no place in the world is "perfect", but to draw your own conclusions, you have to come and see it for yourself. For sure, if you have an open mind, your experience will be positive, unique and you will want to come back again.

Loving these Brazil vids mate, looks like such an incredible place with so much interesting stuff… I have to visit one day! This one particularly close to my heart being in Japan so long. Had heard that Brazil had a huge J-community, but wasn’t sure exactly why, so thanks for explaining! The diaspora is reciprocal to an extent, as there is a big Brazilian community in Gunma where I used to live (interesting for such a homogeneous country). I believe it’s due to the automotive industry and Brazilians coming over to work at the car plants… probs streamlined for them due to the preexisting close ties between the countries.

Italian immigrants and Japanese immigrants were not treated like slaves in Brazil, they came with the promise of paid work. I am of Italian descent and in SP there are also many Italian descendants as well as there are Japanese descendants, everyone can confirm that their ancestors were not treated as slaves here in Brazil and that is why they stayed. Another curiosity is that it was Italian immigrants, who came to Brazil on ships, who named our continent America.

I'm an Italian descendant too. Well many italians suffered during the nineteenth century to the first decades of the last century. They were sent to the farming part and they'd to work hardly even pulling in not enough but they got by over the years and their lives became easier apart from those who went to the eccentric areas. Despite suffered slaves stuffed much more than italians immigrants undoubtedly.

They kinda were treated as slaves, in the sense of the word. Like the weathy plantation owners who was the Elite of São Paulo paid for the italian immigrants to come and work in their coffee plantaions. But the immigrants were very badly treated. They received low wages, very high working hours and their provided living quarters in the farms were terrible. One reason for this is probably because the plantation owners wasn't used to dealing with paid workers rather than slaves, so they didn't really like this new reality where people had rights and they must pay for the work. There was even cases where the immigrants were beated but this always brought legal consequences for them.
Anyway, it didn't took long for the immigrants to decide that they won't be the new slaves for the São Paulo elites so they later come together to buy land and chose for the urban life in the city of São Paulo, with the help of the small but already existent urban immigrant community. Later into the 20th century the government also intervened to improve and regulate the working conditions of all immigrants who were still working in plantations.

@@lucasithegreat2711 These are sordid details, it really happened, but not 100%. Many immigrants did not go to the farm, here in the capital of São Paulo, there was no more farm. And it is here that the majority of immigrants are concentrated (to this state) that is why today many São Paulo businessmen, owners of shopping malls, restaurants and bars are of Italian descent. How logical they were not made of slaves, nor was it like in the capital of São Paulo. So this story is factual. In Minas Gerais there are many descendants of Italians, too, I know why my entire family is, and I don't know any history of slavery in Minas, which was actually the most slave-owning state in Brazil. So it's bad faith to keep saying that all Italian immigrants were treated like slaves, because of police cases in the interior of São Paulo.

I started traveling, not full time but a couple of trips per year since I was 21. I eliminated many unnecessary expenses if my life so that it would be able to travel so much. A few decades later, I still travel and now that Covid restrictions have be relaxed, its possible to visit places again. So exciting that you are living this type of life which others only to dream about. Parabens!

The city, which is also colloquially known as Sampa or Terra da Garoa (Land of Drizzle), is known for its unreliable weather, the size of its helicopter fleet, its architecture, gastronomy, severe traffic congestion and skyscrapers. São Paulo was one of the host cities of the 1950 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
