Here is the troubleshooting I did in our provision refrigeration system #ETO #marineelectrician #leckyjake #refrigeration #evaporator #seaman #seafarer
Salamat Po!Keep in mind my friend that as ship's ETO to deal with refrigerators and A/C IS NOT YOUR OBLIGATION OR JOB!!!Where is your engineers?Scratching the ases in ECR perhaps?Let them do their job where a refrigeration systems is one of their duties!
It depends on the situation on board. Sometimes you have engineers who are so helpless... Better to do it by yourself to be sure that job is done and nobody gives you extra problems when doing some shit there. Sometimes you knowleges much better than your team in this area, and if people on board are good- better to help them) But if there are lazy stupid motherfuckers- of course send them to do their job))😅
As always excellent and informative video keep them coming. This is a common problem I’ve encountered this many times but the Chief just had me use hot water to break up the ice 🧊
Your videos are the most simplified and well explained. Keep posting such. It has been a great practical knowledge booster for many of the youngsters like us😊👍🏻
its up to you to research,. they teach you what you need to know the rest is up to you. your going to have to learn how to learn. you will have to start thinking for your self now, no one can teach you everything, no one!
thank you for making very informative video -as you mentioned at the end waiting video regarding other problems facing on refrigeration ,keep doing very good work lecky
Hi,, thanks for the vedio which is very usefull.. Lecky,, I have a same trouble which is Ice deposit on expansion valve. I have cleaned inside filter and run the system. But trouble is remaining still. Unfortunately , I dont have a spare one onboard ...😒
Kindly it would be nice to elaborate on superheat thing. First of all if the system was running fine before this problem happened and there was no work done on the TXV of veg room . So why to solve the problem we have to open the TXV more . As we know it has been set by factory before it was fitted as per requirement of the system. That clearly says that TXV should automatically open more as per the operational requirement. That means opening pressure due to the bulb sensing is not sufficient to maintain the superheat. Though the action solved the problem but I feel if TXV is malfunctioning then it needs to be changed so that it maintains the temperature in the previous setting of the TXV.
Risk to open too much is flooding back and damaging the compressor. However, at sea those TXV are subject to a lot more mechanical disturbance than on land.
Our Blaster Freezer room (-40C) frequently have icing on the floor (we have proper door with gasket and curtain strips but hot air from outside or products when we push the hot product into the room to freeze them). Our floor has changed to use PU to reduce icing and anti-slip yet still have this issue... do you have any suggestions?
Hi Elect, thank you for the video, just curious if the vegetable room have evaporator pressure regulator since the piping is interconnected with meat and fish freezer? Means both suction pressure are the same. Provision compressors on this video is Bitzer / Sabroe open type.
Dear Jake, Icing on evaporator ,so you reduced the super heat by turning it into counter clock wise. Actually here, superheat was "increased". I believe it's done after turning the adjustment screw to "clock wise ."
How we know we increased or decreased superheat by turning the screw.is there any marking for clock wise and anticlock wise for increased or decreased the superheat
I liked the video.,yes there is a great responsibility to keep the system going, out at sea.Water is the superheat U maintain on this cooler? In future show us the superheat setting
Hi! Lecky Jake good day to you. Elect I have a question maybe you can help me. My question is, what is the common caused or the problem of the Cylinder head and the line in Marine Refrigeration Icing?
Okay I love you videos but you do know you should mention to people if you take off a solenoid coil when it's energized that you going to end up burning up the coil
Hello leckay goo day! may tanong lang po ako sa reefer provision namin ang MEAT ROOM hindi mag auto start...pero mag auto stop naman? Pls. share your a good idea..
in bitzer semi hermetic compressore, when we start it then temperature down -25°C.after then temperature reached -7°C and after again not reached to -25°C.so what can i do to solve this problem??
Thank you for this video. I still have a question, how do you know the level of the refrigerent is okay? And how do you assess the evaporators on your meat and fish room are still good?
For the level, check your pressures, and on the sight glass you will see the level. For the evap of meat room and fish room, no ice to thaw on the grill and the temperature is in range.
So is the same compressor running all 3 rooms? I was curious on refrigerant level as well but did not see any gauge readings. Nice video. I would like to see a little more testing before your determination. Thank you. Im about to get certified but lack experience because of covid schooling turned to online.
@@SCAMATICS777 Its the same as a multi split system AC. no difference, dont confuse yourself with labels, look at what they are, just a pump cycle with switches and relays, oh and mini switches and relays (PCB's). easy as pie, a trained money could do this work. im living proof.
You can see the refrigerant level on the sightglass paced on the condenser unit wich should be at middle the liquid level. Furthermore the temperature from fish and meat room are both in range -18 °C, also you can see the refrigerante gauge from low pressure the indication should be about 1 bar or higher with one of the chamber are working, i hope this make sense and can help you.

Nice very informative video. Just piece of advice much better and safer to use water in defrosting expansion valve.
Very Nice . Thank you.
Super valuable Sir .
Same problem in my meat room .
I will try this method
I am studying for eto now... Urs video r very useful to me.. Thank u

Excellent,,
What a cool job! Sailing the beautiful seas and keeping the vessel's systems in ship-shape!
Only a guy that has never worked on sea can say that (marine engineer with 14 years expirience)

Salamat lecky
how about back pressure control valve on the evaporator out let? does it function correctly? need adjustment. i guess.

Are u eto
Superheat is reduced by turning anticlockwise.
I talk about you new generation eto officers to watch your videos :)
Thank you very much for your wonderful comment. Very much appreciated
Thanks for this video sir more power to you, anyway sir where you can bought your tool permanent magnet it is so nice?
Hi thx u for the content , I got confused when u lower the super heat the ice will be melted? Isn't increasing the heat will melt the ice
How we know we increased or decreased superheat by turning the screw.is there any marking for clock wise and anticlock wise for increased or decreased the superheat
Sir good day , what pressure of refregirant for low and high pressure can you say that your refrigerant is enough ??thankyou
I liked the video.,yes there is a great responsibility to keep the system going, out at sea.Water is the superheat U maintain on this cooler? In future show us the superheat setting
trial and error
Okay
Defrosting procedure using water is not an excellent way of doing it. This is the old way done by old marine engineer but you have done a good job.
I m on board as a trainee, keep waits ur video on board too
Videos will be uploaded every weekend.
Hi! Lecky Jake good day to you. Elect I have a question maybe you can help me. My question is, what is the common caused or the problem of the Cylinder head and the line in Marine Refrigeration Icing?
Sir where can you buy that magnetic solinoid tester?
Good one sir. Sir how did u adjusting the manual txv value did there is any specific adjustment value is there ah sir
wher
which turn direction in that case sir...the ice build up problem,,,1 full turn left or right?
by freezing, possibility, thermostat, coolant, or some leak in ducts etc.

Okay I love you videos but you do know you should mention to people if you take off a solenoid coil when it's energized that you going to end up burning up the coil
