  • In this video i show you some steps that i take when i come across a WIF WIC that is running warm. This walk in freezer was at 60 degrees when i arrived. I usually take the same steps when diagnosing a refrigeration system. Please let me know what you think..

I'm a 21 y/o apprentice and they put me on call. Got a walk in today that was running warm and watching this on my way to the call definitely gave me a starting point , and made me look way more professional than calling around for answers scratching my head. You got a new subscriber!! Turned out it was low on Charge, and has a nasty kink in the discharge side from a push cart.

Check the sight glass on refrigeration. Bubbles is bad. Usually low on charge. Other things can cause that like a txv failing in a certain way . But frozen coil. Bubbling txv usually low

First thing I teach rookies is E..R..A..Electric, Refrigeration, Airflow. Contactors are a once a year item to change on PM. It's always good practice on single units to prevent calls. Good stuff..thanks for sharing.

Electric - Check supply voltage to Compressor, fans, solenoids, and contractors.
Refrigeration - T stat, Discharge and Suction temperature, and metering device
Airflow - Fan blades, Dirty Coils, Air dampers
      Is this what you mean?

I appreciate your approach. I can't tell you how many times I've butted heads with my boss who's a "veteran" refrigeration guy. No joke, he insists on going to the condensing unit first, will not enter the cooler. My approach is that I must first verify the fans are running, no ice on coil, thermostat calling, and solenoid is energized before going up top.

I’ve been doing HVAC-R for about 8 years. This whole time I’ve never thought about using voltage to check continuity. I am always de-energizing circuits to ohm them out. Haha all the time I’ve wasted! Love it! Subbed my man.

Good vid Rook ! The only thing i DISAGREE WITH IS INITIAL SMACKING OF TEMPERATURE CONTROL upon arrival. i Prefer to gently take off temperature control cover and check for a open with a Meter. ( That way u can " Catch " the Bad Temperature control in action if it is so. i Prefer to Try to Get Rid of Some of My " Old timer Bad Habits " & Be a Tech that Tests Rather than Guesses anymore. I Learned smacking controls from the Old timers ( a Bad Habit in my opinion now ). u Can smack it all u want After u have diagnosed it failed. Other than that Good vid. Totally agree with When buying Often used parts ALLWAYS Buy 2. one for job , one for Truck stock.

They are very comfortable and I have been pondering picking up another pair for the upcoming summer. But the soles just deteriorated like a Walmart brand boot. I ordered a hard soled keen and returned them after four days. Was one of the most uncomfortable boots I’ve ever tried, worse than boot camp issued.

Now-a-days they are merely silver alloy filled and not worth messing with. Well actually I should not say that; many industrial contractors have replaceable contacts.
