    I just wanted to say that I REALLY enjoy watching these videos. more so than the ones where the answers are in the manual. I am an installer and have been doing it professionally for 22 yrs. I have added some of the things that you do just because I can always grow. I will say though that I do NOT de-pin harnesses like that because if the customer gets another vehicle that takes that same harness they now have to buy another harness ( which that harness is 80-120 ). also, when you cut the swc wire close like that what if they change their mind or like a jvc/kenwood next? you then either have to sell them a new harness OR order another swc harness and make them wait until it comes in. yes I know this is ONLY what ifs ( the jeep doesn't have swc but what if they change vehicles with swc or change radios or change vehicles and need the pins you modified in the harness ). I will say top notch though and I really look forward to these videos. need a nex firmware update video for the new version. also, side note.... what activator do you use with the ca glue?

      david olsin thank you very much. The Pioneer boxes in the background are full of spare parts. I have spare parts, wires with pins, and plugs in abundance. Kind of a pack rat that way. Yes we are going to have that new update video soon. Thank you again. Is there any tool you love that is unique? Would love to hear about it.

    we need more people like you guys in this 12volt industry that are willing to take the time to share there knowledge and experiences. Im an installer who trolls the Internet always looking for knowledge to grow. they say "The day you think you know it all Is the day you stop learning" With the way technology is changing in our industry you have to keep an open mind and be willing to continue to learn. I know I will be. Thank you guys and I greatly appreciate what you do....keep the videos coming...

    One key recommendation mentioned in this video saved me! Don't overtighten the screws for the new head unit. I had tried overtightening to keep the unit safe and stable and had issues with putting the dash back on. I loosened the screws a little to just make them snug... and BAM! Thanks for the great video and explanations

    Great video! I'm hoping my upcoming install looks half as good as the wire dressing you did in this video.
    It looks like using the green wire from the PAC module works with a manual transmission for signaling new radio to turn on the rearview camera. Can you confirm this?

    Hey guys! i just got the Kenwood DDX9703S unit and it was installed by the geek squad at Best Buy - I went in to try to bypass this and the Lt. green wire is capped with a red wire with a white stripe. I have searched and searched the internet to try to find what this red/white wire is for but cannot figure it out. Im fearful of separating without knowing what I'm doing.
    with these two capped together can I still do the break bypass? would I need to separate them? what do I do with the red/white wire if I separate them?

    Hi!!!, I was looking several videos from you...and I have a doubt. I have a Jeep Compass 2007, and I am trying to install a radio brand Sony. I have an arnes to conect to the original arnes in the car, have too an adapter antena and the radio. I was trying to install it by myself and it is not working. Do I need an interface??. I dont have steering wheel control and it is not amplified, just basic.

    I have a 2017 wrangler unlimited sport. I just got the 4200 and maestro rr with the ch1 harness. My only confusion is I have a manual transmission. The diagram says the purple/white wire is nc but from the radio harness that purple/white gets connected to the white/grey wire from the passenger kick panel. Is this necessary? There’s not enough wire to get it there. It you have to go this route I’m guessing you just use more wire. If you have any knowledge on that please let me know because I saw the vehicle you were doing this on was a Manual.

    I leave the kenwood wire on the swc. That way if the customer wants to change out to a kenwood in the future the wire is there. With these dash kits I connect a few zip ties to the outside of the dash kit to hold the sides tight to the radio. Seems to work really well

    Thank you for your informative video, I have a 2014 JK, and I wish to upgrade my stock radio to an 7 inch android unit "Pumpkin Audio", my question to you is, will I need additional wiring for the steering controls? Or will functioning only be done by direct hand to unit. Also the Metra brackets, are they the goto choice, or are there any other's you recommend, being that you have to modify it prior to installing the unit. thank you, I look forward to your reply. I plan to have my install done soon, but will wait until I have heard back with your recommendations.

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  Před 5 lety

      We like the Metra kit the best out of all the other kits. You will need a smart harness to power up the radio if it does not come car specific. Retaining the steering controls will not be easy. Also make sure that the new radio is not an oversized double din. Check the height to make sure it is not bigger then your dash opening.

The original radio head died and after doing some research I've found an aftermarket radio that both my wife and I love. I bought a Stinger SSCH11 interface and wired everything up from the radio to the interface with the exception of the mute wire and the power antenna. The factory wire harness has all 4 speaker connection wires. I plugged in the radio, it's getting power and connecting with my phone but I'm not getting any sound out of the speakers. I double checked all my wires were soldered to the correct wires, I checked all my fuses and relays. I know the head is getting power because it connects through bluetooth to my phone and I cant think of anything else to check. The stereo head I'm using is a kenwood 504BT for reference.

That makes sense, but in my case I'm installing one of the cameras that have built in LED lighting that is triggered by the same +12V source, so I'm stuck with reverse trigger only so it's not lighting up white at all times. In this case, is the reverse trigger off the PAC harness sufficient to power the camera circuit or would i be better off tagging the reverse light output from behind the taillight assembly?

      @BalanBro2 Před 5 lety

      Hey, thanks again for this video. I successfully completed the install on my 2018 Jeep JK. I ended up wiring two cameras, the back-up camera with the lights is powered by the reverse output from the PAC, and I added a front license plate camera using accessory power. Works great when parallel parking as the car will switch between front and rear cameras automatically when going in and out of reverse.
      I have the factory alpine audio, and I do notice the android auto prompts are excessively loud. Need to figure out why, but I suspect that it's because the factory amp is seeing a speaker level signal instead of a line level. Might consider wiring it up by splicing RCAs into the PAC, but overall it sounds fantastic.
      Excellent videos guys. Keep it up!

      +foster mcmillan we just add an Aux with all our installs just to be safe. That way we don't have to add one later if the customer wants one.

      Thanks to Your guys videos, I installed a Pioneer Sph Da120 with steering wheel control, Micro bypass and camera in my daughters 2016 Wrangler Unlimited. Wow the technology has come a long way from the late 80's when I was in the car audio business.I remember when the Clifford Intelliguard 400 was one of the coolest alarms :-)

      Five Star Car Stereo great video! Thanks for the info. I too am curious about the phone mount, did you use a nut to secure them? I'm installing my stereo on Wednesday and I love my phone mount. I'd love to keep using it. Also can I use the factory microphone for the Bluetooth calling/Apple CarPlay or do I have to use the provided mic? Any answer would be helpful. Your number is on the video; is it ok if I call to ask you a few quick questions? Thanks!

      Why did you remove the bracket instead of removing the tabs and putting it back in? Based on my experience with my JK (second owner) when you do that (like the 1st owner did to mine), the dash bezel tends to work itself loose. I have had a heck of a time finding a replacement, and even attempted to fabricate one from aluminum stock (sorta works). Also what do you do with the brackets you don't put in? Could I get one for shipping cost? :)

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  Před 7 lety

      mario espinoza I'm guessing you want to replace the old Factory navigation with something newer. If so it is doable with some parts from PAC. You will need the rp5-gm11 smart harness. The bkgmk421 dash kit and baa4 antenna adapter.

    • @marioespinoza9025
      @marioespinoza9025 Před 7 lety

      Ok cool.. and this will retain the factory steering controls and navigation.

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  Před 7 lety

      mario espinoza yes for steering controls. I don't know what you mean by navigation. You can't plug the factory navigation into a aftermarket radio. The navigation from the factory is built into the radio, it is one piece.
