      I don't think you understand the difference between amateur and professional. I don't think there is a single player on that English or Canadian team that would agree with you.
      What Canada did was immense but they should have proper financial support from their union. Too much underinvestment in women's sports needs to change. This is not an example of how competitive an amature team can be rather a question of just how much could they achieve if they had the proper support.

      You are right but dont restrict it to the 2nd half. This a tactic the English use in every game along with their forwards working in 3's. They are dependent on their forwards to win games and the role of the backs is to obstruct the opposing sides back line. At rucks and mauls they stand in offside positions to shut down any attacking movement - this is particularly noticeable with the 2nd 5 and centre who are usually several feet offside. In contrast the Black Ferns, for instance, play an attacking game through the backs who score most of their tries. This is why I think England will win the final comfortably unless the ref actually monitors this which is unlikely given the poor standard of refereeing displayed so far.

    Women's Rugby is every bit as exciting as the men's game - I just wish the national matches were as well attended and the ladies got the financial rewards they deserve (not football salaries - even the football men don't deserve those!!!).

      I totally agree with you. Canada gave England a 'wake-up' call, which thankfully England responded to. Whilst both Canada and England show impressive use of their packs, neither are 'One Trick Ponies'. Canada are most definitely on the right route of becoming even better. France are in for a very challenging game. My best wishes to the Canadian team in the future.

      The law differing massively between officials means they aren’t consistent. This is why referee decisions are so controversial if calls differ depending on what referee you get.

  • @bremCZ
    @bremCZ Před rokem +1

    The question was just how they saw the refereeing at the breakdown. It's a legitimate question considering how different global refereeing standards can be and how by the book some refs can be compared to others.

      Before most internationals (in the men's game anyway) the Ref meets each team separately some days before the match to explain how they are going to ref it, and answer any questions the team may have. I guess that one of the things flowing from being pro rather than amateur is that you get to work out what questions to ask, and how the interpret the Ref's answers. Also, time to practice how to play to the Ref in general.
      But good on them for a classy answer!

    As an English man I'm glad that we won. But I think Canada played the overall better rugby and would have deserved to win if it wasn't for the world classes try from MacDonald and Dow. Hopefully England can learn from this lesson in fast paced dynamic rugby when they face NZ. They will need it, so Canada might have done us a favour. Canada have shown that they are deserved of better funding and professional contracts. Well done Canada.

    As long as you play the tune, the referees can continue to tilt the game.
    Basically any time a team is very close the win will go with who the ref favours.
    Is that what we want.????

    With your title, do you mean some guy, whose team ended up leaving the RWC France 2023 after 1/4 finals, expressed himself in a way he shouldn't have ?
    OK, so... if your statement is true, why did World rugby conducted an analysis of the referring done during RSA - FRA to conclude the "yellow man" made 5 major mistakes ? Including 2 against RSA and 3 against France. Yet forgetting a direct head contact with forearm... not a detail !
    Not only is the referee to blame in this case, but the whole referring team as well. Where was the TMO when we needed him most, as his job specifically requires it ? Apart from "invisible man", what acting or hiding was he doing during this game (mostly second half).
    This man and his team were not up to the task, and it seems like a few other things were also forgotten during the RSA - ANG game, by... the very same referee.
    This RWC France, offering great games, opposition, and else, got ruined by a good enofew referees who thought decisions dre
