She was asking why the cat took her place where she would settle normally. Then she asked where to settle now that the cat took her preferred place. I think she doesn't like to share space with that cat too much.

Ah, “sleep why”. The eternal question asked by five-year old children everywhere.
And expert scientists.
I think the official answer is because our brain needs downtime to form memories and flush out accumulated waste particles. People who stay awake for weeks first go insane, and then die (I think because they fail at regulating their body temperature). That makes sleep as essential as eating and drinking.
But I think the correct answer would have been "I don't know" :D

I think she means dreaming. She knows sleep happens when she is tired, and "settle" means rest but stay alert. She needs a new word that means "dream" (with an understandable explanation) - she is kind of requesting it.
This is beyond a kid's question of "Why do I have to go to bed?". Just speculation on my part - but Bunny has surprised us with the way she conveys many many concepts with so few words at her disposal.
@@DPortain Sleep is essential for the brain to reorganize yes. But sleep also helps neuron regeneration. When you're awake, the neurons in your brain are constantly active. Sleep lets some of them rest and regenerate while also filtering unneeded information out of storage.

I just love watching bunny think about how she will convey her thoughts. Just amazing!
She also asks "sleep why?" I think she was getting at dreaming.
She knows "sleep because tired" and "settle" is more like to be quiet and reflect.
she is tired, so she sleeps. When she settles she remains alert.
But dreaming - that's a good "why" question! I think she can grasp new words easily once she asks for them. "Sleep but not settle or rest" is dream.

I think the tragic thing is, she’s not one in a million - dogs are all individuals and special in their own ways. Bunny has the advantage of being able to talk to us in a way we understand, but imagine of every dog was given the same opportunity. Imagine how much more special they’d all suddenly feel to us.

That's the thing. I don't think tired is a word Bunny has been taught to use (yet).

I just love bunny so much. Every time I watch her video and its on a full screen my sheepdog stops what he.s doing and watches her and whines. I think he just might be in love with her because I've never seen him do that before. He actually looks a bit like her but he is much bigger. Guess I will have to teach him how to talk to find out if he is in love or just lust as she is the full package for a boy OES, (the looks and the personality!) Thanks so much for turning us on to this cool way to communicate with our puperoni`s!!

Aww, if my dog asked me that, trying to use words he understands,
i would say either "bedtime good, paw no ouch"
(instead of sleep, i say bedtime)
unfortunately these buttons are too expensive and we're struggling as it is,
but my dog is alot like Bunny, -he just...doesn't have buttons, and so, instead, when he needs or wants something,
i cycle through a list of things, and he gets excited when i say what he wants, or he will bring me to show me,
or he will bring me something, -usually a dish or container. One time when he was little,
he hauled a big bowl over to my mom's friend who had chicken wings and dumped his kibbles out when we said no,
then for a while he would paw and splash his water dish because he knew dumping his kibbles was bad,
so he'd say "look, this dish...is empty, loook, you can fill it with YOUR food" and he's constantly reminding us to keep his dish FULL because his brothers need to eat and if it's empty they won't tell us, he's ON TOP of everything, so responsible.
He's very smart, he doesn't just get excited for ANY old word,
he's very specific.
He doesn't trust people or animals really, but he's come to accept being nice when i tell him "be nice to the neighbors"
and same applies if i say "need nice, neighbor dog no bad" he's a very good boy,
he's very grumpy to everyone if they're not a neighbor.
He's almost 10 now.
I forget what it was, but he asked me...Oh YEAH, -he was wondering what i meant when i started using the proper words for birds,
-he used to know birds as "grouse" because that's what we hunted before i stopped eating meat,
-so i explained to him "grouse of-the bird" (i use "of-the" as a general associative word when i talk to him)
and he was looking at some birds one day and he saw a plane,
and i told him "no bird, up car" and he just looked super amused. -he's always loved mechanical stuff, he was always so curious,
and "going up" is his favorite
but i suppose he wondered what exactly they were because they weren't the "bad birds" like eagles, so he stopped starring at them.
(i say "bad birds" because he's small and eagles have been known to eat his breed, -therefore it makes him stay close to me when they're around)
Maybe the cat is too settled for bunny. Bunny play cat!

You think Bunny would be interested in stories or TV shows? Like. Imagine how many conversations you can have with a dog just talking about movies. They might understand the concept of 'pretend' or 'make-believe' the same way a cat might pretend a toy is a mouse...

Sleep why? I can understand that question coming from a dog, technically only in america have i seen dogs sound asleep, in Africa dogs don't "sleep", the take light Naps known as "dog's nap" and you can handly catch them with their eyes close.

I don't know if you have a "good" button, but I would use that for questions like "Why sleep?", as in "it's good for you", or even a "happy" button. Or you could just get a button that says "Perchance to dream", haha! 🥰😘😴
I think the next stage would be pre parenting and parenting words, and then.. seeing if Bunny will teach, or pass it on simply by being witnessed by the pups. That will be VERY telling. Perhaps prior to Bunny being a parent, you include the mate to watch and possibly utilize merely by watching. And you know of course.. dog food or pet care object makers are sweating the communication levels. "What dog food is better Bunny?" lol.. and so fourth.

I think the stranger he’s asking about is in the mirror. He’s asking if the image is a Cat. I think he knows what a dog smells like and sees a dog but is confused by the image because it doesn’t smell like a dog. He’s asking if it’s a new form of a cat

Why do we sleep? Because we're all done for today? Because we need to settle? Because we played too much? Or just because we fulfilled our other needs and it's time to rest? Oh sweet Bunny there are just so many answers to such a philosophical question you beautiful furry mind.
It's obvious that she is a dearly beloved dog but the communication seems to be the owner putting radom pushed buttons as legitimate questions. ADMITTEDLY I COULD BE WRONG.
