Heyyyy I grew up on trackballs too! Did you ever see those old IBM trackballs that were this ugly grey with the big noisy clickers? PS/2 connector? I think they were from the late 80s to early 90s. That was my primary mouse for PC and even gaming until it died, then I even used a Logitech USB trackball until a couple years ago. My dad literally has several of those old ugly grey IBM trackballs BRAND NEW IN BOX, even a couple of those old PS/2 keyboards that were insanely noisy also brand new. They sit next to the CRT Dell monitors in his garage lol.
Funny story, back in 2015 I had a Dell Precision and I thought my mobo died because the PC would freeze on the 'Dell' BIOS screen and the bar was right before the end, would NEVER get further. So, got on eBay, bought a motherboard for $40, swapped it all out on a table, booted it on the table to test it, then went back to my room and plugged all my stuff back in, AND IT DID THE SAME THING WITH THE NEW MOBO. Turns out my old IBM PS/2 trackball had died and would cause my system to get stuck on the BIOS and not get any further, unplugged the mouse and grabbed a USB one and the system booted right up. I literally replaced my motherboard thinking it died, but it was actually my mouse.... learned my lesson there. Was also 15 at the time lol
I remember playing Putt Putt also but the comment from @MattSermet I took as back when mice had "balls" and now these mice have "FRIKEN LASERS".

The Day Before problems remind me of Duke Nukem 4's development history. They showed off some initial assets and levels in the late 90's but the heads kept getting the "Ooo, shiney!" bug and forcing new features and completely different game engines. Feature creep is the bane of developers.

Switch games are on cartridge that makes a difference since the actual game can fit in there unlike disk where a lot of Devs just gave up and make you download them anyway.

The Xbox should be spun off from Microsoft, given $100 billion dollars in provisions to be made into 100% separate and independent company since Microsoft are PURPOSELY destroying the Xbox to make way for Games as a service - GamePass.
1. Microsoft decides to leave the gaming console business.
2. Microsoft is inevitably hit with anti-trust measures for cloud gaming monopolies.
Why should Microsoft be trusted to "do better" when or if they role out the next generation Xbox?
Microsoft are clearly focused and want to go in the direction of a software as a service and subscription model. Promises or gaslighting of "20xx is going to be the year of Xbox" is not cutting it anymore.
Microsoft as a software and services corporation, has largely put its hardware largely to the wayside.
Surface Duo phones

Xbox consoles
Because they really aren't the big money makers for the corporation along with a with a history of other hardware, they have abandoned when it is no longer succeeds or makes enough money for their shareholders.
Xbox as its very own 100% independent and separate company with NEW leadership
focused on the Xbox console and games will be benefit the games industry by providing not only xbox gamers a console to invest in, but also head-to-head competition to Sony's PlayStation going forward because Microsoft are not interested in competing directly with the Playstation.
Microsoft can go chase mobiles all they want under a different banner.
