Hear me out, your parents knew what they were doing by gifting your dad the console. It got you two to spend time together, which was definitely a gift for him.
As a dad that games with is kids, I was heading to the comments to say that same thing.

Bruh I truly think the fandom for this series will make enough noise to bring new eyes to the series and make it financially worth it
Sony really needs to consider doing something with their PS2 era IPs. They could simultanously catch the attention of dedicated fans and newer gamers with their Jak & Daxter and Sly Cooper series. But this is probably just the rambling of a man shouting at the clouds...
This has been the most thought provoking game review slash history lesson I have ever watched. Definitely got me in the feels. My mom got my my dad an NES when I was a child ( yes I'm OLD). I hope someone is working on a Jak 4 for you my ninja.

I remember for Christmas my parents got me a bunch of used games when I was a kid. jak being one of them. Only problem was I had a ps1 and half the games they got me were for ps2 lol.

I LOVED this video, thanks for doing this Kyler. I played all the jak and daxter games up to Jak x combat racing (although I barely remember the first and never played Daxter spin off game) it holds a special place in my heart for my PS2 was a hand me down from my older cousin who played the games with me then I with my little brother, me and brother spent whole summers just replaying combat racing. I still keep the same PS2 and game displayed in my office to this day. Though I think it very unlikely we will ever see a Jak 4, I can see a re-master of the games in the future being a possibility .
They are being ported to PC, you can play Jak 1 right now on PC natively in 4k 16:9 120fps with a hd texture pack. They would never get officially remastered because the game engine code is obsolete and has been lost to the mists of time. The decompilation team have brought them back from the grave, this is the quintessential version of the Jak games now.

I presume you know that the game has been completely decompiled/reverse engineered, it's been PC ported and is now playable in 4K 120fps. They are working on Jak II and will work on Jak III afterwards. The games were basically dead because the game engine code was unique and not used anymore, so no one knew or remembered how to use it, there was no documentation on it so no one could relearn it. The official re-releases are all bugged up because the code is inaccessible so they can't fix bugs, but the pc port decompilation team have brought it back to life. Maybe in time the community could completely remaster the game graphically with path tracing.

Yes - in the meantime, I know its not the same, but they just released an upgraded version of The Lost Frontier on PS4 and PS5, and they might release Daxter soon as well (possibly)

I don't think Naughty Dog would make it. But with the Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart game. I could see Insomniac making it.
11:14 Unpopular opinion but I’ve said for years now Sony could let Insomniac Handle it, Thought I’d prefer Naughty Dog do it themselves. Sad to see this series seemingly dead.

About once a year I still go back and play the whole trilogy on the PS4. It’s nice form of nostalgia and mental reset. Appreciation for a time that no longer exists.
Same here. Just finished Jak 2 and going on to play 3. I've played Jak and Daxter so much that I 100% it every time.
The funny thing about jak franchise is that the childish first game was quickly modernized in jak 2 where the games started to fossilize around the asthetic change of jak 2.
It will never be the same game. If it ever comes out. Which i doubt it
i feel like if they make a jak 4, it needs to be grittier because that is where the series was heading. Have final fantasy like graphics and have the combat and gun play be enhanced for next gen. Add a bag of new mechanics that have you explore the world even better. I wouldnt want them to go the route of the ratchet and clank games at all.
I would kill for a Jak Collection ported to Steam

Just look for Jak and Daxter OpenGOAL, you'll not regret it. It feels like a really smooth official port despite being a community project...
Maybe a different studio could make Jak since I doubt Naughty Dog will return to it or Uncharted ever again. Probably TLOU as well after the third game comes out
I remember really trying to find anyway possible to get Jak 2 & 3 as a kid. I liked the first game, sure, but the polish and feel of the latter games were just so much better. I stopped after Jak 3, when I learned that Jak X was just racing, I just wasn't interested, and the series eventually left my interest altogether since.
Side note edit: Reminds me, Ubisoft _needs_ to make another game like Rayman 3.

i played all of those games with my wife she would play till she got to the hard parts and get me to beat it fun times i would also play jack 4 if it was a thing

When I was about 9 I got in a car accident and I was allowed to spend some of the insurance money on whatever I wanted. I bought a PS2 and the og Jak/Daxter. Absolutely loved the game. I tried a demo of Jak2 at some point and pretty much hated it...I much prefer the simplicity and beauty of the first game. I didn't like the guns or driving or complexity of the 2nd game. A Jak1 remake would be nice!
You should look up the Jak1 PC port it's basically a remaster
What I don't like about this video is that there are massive spoilers for the games. You just assumed that everybody has played them already, or doesn't ever intend to.
Jak and Daxter came out 23 years ago, hardly requires a spoiler alert... that one is on you if you realized he was recapping the plot but kept watching anyways.

Ratchet, Jak and Sly will always have a special place in my heart. They were my entire childhood. Me my younger brother and two cousins use to love those games as children. ❤
literally completed precursor legacy today for the first timem after geting half way through it as a kid when it first come out, if anyone wants to play it check out the opengoal project for the best way to play it, i was looking to play through the series but jak 2 seems so far from the first that i dont even think its worth my timme
