One of those designs I've always been on the fence with.
Same here!
Nice job restoring that one. Thanks for sharing, and the history lesson on the car.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@TheMuscleCarModeler I always enjoy your videos.
Great build and restoration. I wish Amy would reissue this and the 68 again
Thank you! That would be cool!

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Cool Build!!! I never knew they made a kit??? Nice Work!!! Love the history!!!
Thanks for watching!
I love the 67/68T birds, very unique shape, not so keen on 69 onwards.
I have a mint 67 annual kit of this one and a rebuilder in the pile to do.
Really like the blue as well, and great job restoring it as the suspension is very delicate on these, it's very broken on my rebuilder. great stuff Raoul
Very cool!
Nice work and an excellent restoration…
Many thanks!
Nice classy color combo. The restoration looks really good!
Thank you!
I'm not usually interested in the look of the 1967 T-bird, but that build of yours looks great!
Thank you!
Very nice rebuild. Im a huge Tbird fan, love'm all. I have every year model kit or promo, up to '74. And a few resin '77, '78 and 79s.
Thank you! I stopped at this 67. I have a resin 55 in 1/25. Copy of a Promo. And all of them in between. I made a 58 from a 60 annual as well.
one of my favourite cars … thanks for posting this, and hope you and your family have a great christmas!
Have a Merry Christmas!
I have a mint unbuilt '68 version of this kit. I bought it to build, but now on the fence as to whether keep it unbuilt or put it together. Great job on the rebuild!
Thank you! Hard to decide, but I always plan on building them.
Beautiful model! Great colour choice! I still have the Model King issue of the 71. If you have that one, take a look at the box, they made a mistake... They put a sticker with a D in the Thunderbird, when you pull it off, it says Thunberbird underneath!
Thanks! I don't have the 71 Thunderbird kit, but that is interesting!
Great update on this build . Thank you for sharing I enjoyed watching and learning more about this kit. Have a great weekend and a merry Christmas buddy
Thanks, you too!
It's a great resto! Lots of cool info about it too
Thank you!
Beautiful vintage kit rebuild. Im not too crazy about that generation of T Birds too, but its the styling that attracts me to. I had one of these models back in the day but is long gone, I'd like to have another one in my collection. I think it was a 69 version but the basic body shell is the same from 67 to 69. You have a beautiful build there😎👍
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this one. I haven't been able to get one of these kits. It's funny that you say it has a fish mouth because I always thought that a 64 looked like a catfish from the front. Awesome job on this restore, it looks great and have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for watching!
Looks like Cheech from "Cheech and Chong" to me, lol.
Ralph, Awesome car!...Thunderbird fans were really horrified at the 4 door model (ha ha).
Thank you!
Nice car and great details
Thanks!
Nice build! That style T bird never excited me either. Interesting story about the rolling door locks. That must have been annoying to drive everytime you stopped at a light.
Thank you! I'm sure that was annoying.
Great looking build 😁✌
Thanks 👍
Great model. Not an easy build. But getting a built one apart, well I would need an anesthesia drip. IMO, The suspension and wheel placement is difficult for this vintage of Thunderbird kit. The paint is perfect, also the way you added the proper chrome trim to the interior is awesome and accurate for the 67. You obviously did your research.
Thank you! I like to look into the subject. This car didn't excite me, but I did learn a few things about them!
cool looking build
Thank you!
Turned out really nice!
Thank you!
Good that you were able to.make this look half way decent after someone else began building it .. Caveat Emptor when you buy a kit someone else started ..
Thanks. This one was finished, and I decided to tear it apart. It came out nice but was more work that I thought it was going to be.
Great job on sanding and respray. Looks like someone painted it with auto touch up spray and with no primer or one not intended for plastic. I have had good results with Rustoleum primer designed for plastic furniture. Just use a lot of very thin coats and sand well before the color coat.
Thanks 👍! It was very aggressive paint. I have a 59 Thunderbird that is worse. The paint was on so thick it had no emblems or even door and hood lines. I had it soak for a while to strip the paint. I found the emblems, but the body is heavily textured.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
I love the way this thunderbird came out great job on restoring it!!!!
Thank you!
Colour really suits it. Nice save.
I remember a resin caster who was offering a four-door version getting really angry at me a few years back when I innocently asked if he was going to stretch the body since as I understand it the four-doors were on a wheelbase a few inches longer. He said it wouldn’t show, I disagreed 🙂
Thanks! The 4dr is 3 inches longer and 100lb heavier. That 3 inches would show in scale, but if I were casting it. I wouldn't stretch it either. As a caster once you do that then the interior would not fit or the chassis. The glass may not fit as well. Maybe you could separate the glass to spread it apart. You would have to do a new tub anyways because of the door panels but now you are making it longer and once that is done. The chassis needs to be longer. Adding more work to the kit and parts making the kit more expensive. Most modelers would not notice or care. Most would probably complain that the exhaust and driveshaft no longer fit.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler I’d put the effort in if I was selling a resin but then I’ve been burned so many times with expensive resin bodies that were frankly crap. Frankly if you’re not going to do it right don’t bother. Build your kits however you like but if you’re going to sell a product to other modellers make it a decent and accurate one.
Everyone has different expectations, and you will never satisfy them all.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler that’s true enough.
Oddballs, but still cool. There’s a white one a few miles from me. But you’re right, you done see them often.
Thank you!
Nice job! I just finished the AMT ‘71 Thunderbird a few months ago. It was a ton of work as well, especially in the engine bay. I like your color choices.
Very cool!
I’m with you, I liked the pre ‘67 Tbirds better. I did like the suicide doors though
Thanks!
nice build! I almost ended up with the 1:1..... I bought my 72 Roadrunner in 2007 from a friend Kenny in Scotland.... I was not after a 72 Roadrunner but i was amazed he was struggling to sell it and it was a grear price! i was cheeky and offered 1k below the asking price..... Kenny also owned a 68 T Bird 429...having accepted my offer for the 72 Roadrunner he offered me the 68 T-Bird for 1k! ...so 2 cars for his original aksing price on the 72 RR. ..... it was a good running T-Bird and road legal! ..... i was tempted! ..... it was ugly though! done as a rat rod.... needed an interiour and the body brush painted Matt Black...and the chrome parts painted Red!...looked like a terrible bat mobile..... that car never sold! he ended up putting the 429 in a Mustang and broke up the T-Bird.... a shame thinking about it now.
Thank you! Thanks for sharing. I wonder how many of them donated a motor to something else.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler I agree..... I once owned a 1969 Ford Cobra 428 4 speed notchback.... it only cost me 5k in 2009... and in great condition.... another car I got from Scotland.... no one apprecited it here.... a friend pointed out at the time it could be worth more as a donor car to convert a 1969 Mustang.... over here at the time it was just Chargers and first gen Mustangs most wanted.... everything else overlooked.... the Cobra was a rust free Texas import.... sadly its rotting away outside as we speak.... the owner has a collection of big block 4 speed Fords.... Mostly Mustangs.... including a BOSS 351 and multiple 428 4 speeds ...he does not drive them. :(
Nice restoration on a rather odd looking T-Bird, but the Buick Riviera and Olds Toronado were pretty odd looking too, I guess they were trying too hard to be different. But I still think it's better than the flood of look-alike cars we have today.
Thank you! I agree that so many of these new cars look so much the same. Check out this Charger and Accord. facebook.com/carsofpakofficial/photos/a.431118813734167/1723009591211743/
@@TheMuscleCarModeler double vision! I hope they look different from the side view.
The blue with white interior is super classy. Nice work. How do you keep the motivation going forward on the build if you’re not too excited about the subject?
That is why I like to read into the options and unique features. I usually find something!
@@TheMuscleCarModeler I have to admit I’ve started doing more research on my builds. You are right - it is fascinating all the little details of production numbers, options, etc.
I think it looks pretty darn good. Glue bombs are quite challenging but it feels really good when you have it restored with most of the kiddie mess and sloppy ancient history.
Thank you! They are challenging and like you said extra rewarding.
Is there any truth to putting a glue bomb in the freezer overnight to make it come apart easier?
I have not done that myself but have heard of people doing it. I heard sprinkle water on the model. When the water freezes it will push the parts apart. Still have not tried it though.
Have you use any new chrome plating services since Bob quit? I saw a place to send it to in Scale Auto magazine.
I have not used anyone else yet. I have a bunch or restoration projects that I have not done yet, but he has already done the chrome on them.
👋👍👍
Thank you!
Is it a collector model being a standard
tranny auto interior?...pretty cool
Thank you. It is just funny that so many of these original annual kits are that way. Many started as a Promotional Model. Those didn’t have an opening hood or engine in them. Those were added later and many times miss matched to the interior tub.
