- This is a 1967 Mustang GTA fastback with a 390. I started with the AMT 67 Mustang GT kit plus a resin kit from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. Olnt thing was it was a used kit on a built up I found on eBay.
Modelhaus tires that I used on this build They are promo style and I had to cut the centers out: www.modelhaustires.com/collec...
I believe these are the same tires but kit style: www.modelhaustires.com/collec...

WOW, in the sun and camera angles, looks 1:1 scale😊.
Thanks!
A flawless looking build and great attention to the little details!,you have a very high standard you achieve with your builds!👌
Thank you very much!
Absolutely stunning, and I _know_ how much work went into getting it to stance properly. Front suspension is a real bear on that kit.
Thanks. This one didn’t fight me to much.
Excellent job Raoul as it is with all your models you build! Thanks once again for posting your video(s) too!
Glad you like them! Many thanks!
What a looker!👍
Thanks!
Geez, another great build! That color looks great in the sun! One of my favorites.👊👍
Thanks 👍
Nice build, looks great. Have a great weekend!!
Thanks, you too!
Great build, love their rear tail light panel and if you build another one do it in Wimbledon White 👍👍
Thank you!
That is an awesome build. Great color choices. Nice use of resin parts to get the model correct. I liked hearing about the history of the car. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks 👍
Super model, Your channel is great, I've just restarted model making after 45 years, just completed the 1968 Mustang as a Cobra Jet, done it in all red like a Dealer Promo Model, thanks for a super upload, Best wishes to yourself, loved ones and fellow viewers.
Thank you! Enjoy your builds! I have heard a few builds like that called “promo style”
@@TheMuscleCarModeler Thank you for your reply and info, id like to do the 'Promo Style' and also do some more detailed one's, I worked in American car spares in the early 80s in London, it was a dream seeing so many Muscle cars and I had a 1970 GTO for a while and been in a fair few American cars, also had Rover P5B,P6B and SD1 these all had a version of the Buick 215ci engine, these days I enjoy car shows and watching the 60s,70s American shows where the cars look at home, the last model I made all those years ago was a 1979 Monogram Firebird Turbo I think that was around 1979, we had a Mustang Cobra 2 in the street that sounded nice with Turbo Mufflers.
I will be watching your uploads for sure, have a Super week.
Very cool. Enjoy!
@@TheMuscleCarModeler Thank you, look forward to your vids, Best wishes.
Another awesome car, and tons of great info on the mustang.👍👍
Thanks! 👍
Excellent finish with this Mustang, Raoul! I love it!
Now, back to the 80's. My weekend street racer for a couple years there was my '69 CJ 428 XR7 Cougar, which of course has the same engine compartment as the Mustang. I changed spark plugs about every couple months. For the most part, each cylinder had its own unique combo of u-joints and extension lengths in order to make the ordeal a little more liveable. Remember, if you kept the threads oiled (no anti-seize back then that I knew of), all you had to do was crack it lose and remove with your fingers. At some point I discovered that jacking up a 2x4 from below on the oil pan rail allowed for just enough clearance to make a couple cylinders easier. But, unbolting the mounts was totally unnecessary. I believe that was BS that mechanics/dealers threw around to charge more. I did the job in under an hour every time. The Torino/Cyclone/Falcon engine compartment had the subframes/towers spaced less than an inch wider than the Mustang/Cougar. Doesn't seem like a lot but they were easier.
As for the doubled head gaskets...IN THEORY, this would lower the stock 390 S-code compression ratio to drop enough to run on regular gas. However, little was known about quench in those days (for us commoners). With the stock pistons .030" down at TDC and a .040" gasket thickness, the gap from the factory was already outside the parameters of turbulence benefits. Adding another gasket just made things worse. Oh sure, you could slow up the ignition curve on that combo and run regular, but performance hit would be a sad thing. Today we aim for a zero piston height with a .036" to .042" gasket. This scenario increases power and octane tolerance. Doubling gaskets was a bad idea on several levels.
I’m betting that the double stacked gaskets was a way to drop the compression on that motor. With two gaskets, I’m sure that is why the head gaskets blew.
Since I work at a dealer. I have seen many times where the service information says to do a job one way but the tech does it another way. Sometimes they are successful and beat the clock and other times it bites them in the butt.
Recently I had to tell a customer that his battery fuse block had no warranty because the fuse blew. He could not understand that the fuse blowing was the fuse actually doing its job! GM does not warranty fuses! He was changing the alternator and didn’t disconnect the battery! He bought the fuse block 3 months before because he was jump starting the battery and shorted it at that time!
@@TheMuscleCarModeler To add to my post above, what we also didn't have back in the day was wobble sockets. I have not used any thus far on plugs, but I'll bet those would help a bit. AND, the car that had the worst rep for spark plug access was the Chevy V8 Monza. I knew a guy that had a silver one and he actually had to lift the engine several inches straight up to do the deed. Or so he said. Oh well, better him than me!
Nice Model, brings back the days of my son's '67 Hardtop Coupe. It was metallic blue and we just converted it to take a V-8 when this guy from Holland drove by and stopped to offer $11,000. We settled on $12,500, now it's in Holland somewhere. We had about $4,500 in it. My son got a CLK430 BRABUS to replace it and it eventually became mine which I am still driving today. Miss the Stang though.
Thanks. That cool. My best friend still has his 67 coupe. It’s sitting I his back yard and hasn’t moved since 2008.
The vintage burgandy is a super color choice. And what you did to narrow the wheel/tire appearance, as well as the headlight bezel change, really add to the appearance realism of the build.
I can understand the blue color preference. Grabber Blue was my favorite on a later Mustang, but I couldn't afford one. In 2012, I finally bought a Mustang w/4-spd in that color.
Thank you very much! At one time the 58 Thunderbird that was supposed to be mine was super blue with a white top. Real close to grabber blue! My dad still has that car but it is now all white.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler maybe you can convince him to put it in a quick purple pond bath and remove the white! 😉
Car needs a lot of rust repair now and his Thunderbirds will be mine someday as my brother wants nothing to do with them.
That came out beautiful Raoul!
Thanks Frank!
Lots of great information and a great build, Ralph.
Thank you kindly!
Very nice build! Your color choice is perfect. I like the choice to make it automatic also. Great story of your friend and his experience with his Mustang. After being offered that amount of money he probably don't regret selling it. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! His story was interesting and at the time I didn't know how rare his car actually was.
Sweet Mustang, love the color!
Thanks!
Very nice build. love the colors
Thank you!
had a 68/390 as a kid also had the tail panal for my 67 kit but it got lost would be nice to get a 3d print😁🤩scooter😎ps have a good rest of your day🤗
Cool. Thank you and enjoy your weekend!
thanks for another awesome video!
My pleasure! Thanks!
Beautiful build! I'd REALLY like to get ahold of a resin GT conversion kit.
Thank you! Email Replicas and Miniatures. Maybe he will make more if enough people request it? I was asking him for a while before I found this build up and a kit on eBay.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler I e-mailed Norm. He replied that the molds were too worn and has no plans to re-cast this kit again.
Ok. It's been 5-6 years since I bugged him on them.
You should consider installing side windows man, I never see anyone doing that. Maybe use and mold PTEG, It would keep the interior mint!
Thanks. For some reason, I like the windows down so I can see the interior.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler seems like most people do too.
