  • This is a 1967 Camaro Pace Car convertible built from the AMT 67 Camaro Z/28 and also using the MPC 69 Camaro convertible. I built this one back in late 2010 early 2011.
The hood and grill are from Modelhaus. Sorry but this is no longer available.
The decals came from Keith Marks. public.fotki.com/mofobow/

Sharp and excellent job you did Raul on building and painting your AMT '67 Camaro Pace Car!

I really enjoy all the history you give with the videos. Thanks! I now notice I have no 60's Camaros in my stash. I will have to remedy that. LOL.

I took the current AMT Camaro as the base, added the Modelhaus SS grille, tires from a spare AMT Cutlass 442 hardtop kit and the hood and other small parts from the Revell Camsro kit to make mine. Nice job!

Very cool! I have four more AMT 67 Z/28s in my stash and one more 68. Not to mention resin hoods and grills to make a few RS versions with Yenko and Dana hoods!

Ralph, I thoroughly enjoy looking at the model cars you build on youtube. I am like in you in that I have liked doing models all my life. I am particulary fond on the 1967 Camaro.

Nice build again. So easy to get in a argument over these cars replica vs cars that were there. I own a 96 Indy 500 dodge ram to me it doesn't matter I just liked the way it looked same color as the viper gts white stripes to me I never get tired of looking at it. Just enjoy!

Thanks. The newer ones are easier to document because of factory paperwork. The 67's were the first of the Chevrolet pace car replicas. Chevrolet didn't really give them any special codes other that the two doculented orders. The replicas that were part of the Pacesetter promotion are really hard to document. What is known is the 82-102 used at the race and are known as Festival cars. Then the 21 that was made specifically to fill the Canada order plus the 1 AJ Foyt winner reorder. The Pacesetter cars are estimated between 200-400+ cars and those are the real gamble. Basically any 67 RS/SS could have been ordered in white with blue interior. Doesn't mean it is a replica but no telling. Those cars didn't get the special paint codes and no codes for the decals.

Beautiful build. I love your attention to the detail to getting things correct. I really would love to see Revell re-release their ‘67 Camaro kit.

Awesome, two Camaro videos this week (I think I forgot to comment on the other 🤦‍♂️🤣) Beautiful build, my friend (and great bit of history, enjoyed always)! Happy weekend 😁✌

  • @neiljumpinjackflash7551

Thanks for the history lesson on three pace cars that GM built. It would be great to track down the history on the first one. Your Camaro build turned up Aces! Yeah the wrinkle on the decal, its livable because you can't see it unless you are close in, better than the decals that break into pieces. I have had everything go smooth until decal time...I actually sweat sometimes trying to get those decals to sit properly especaily on curved surfaces. Neat that Canada complained and they got a good number of these. I don't remember seeing one in my travels but then who knows what is hiding in a garage or barn somewhere.

He offered a 68 Firebird convertible for sure! I have a few of them as they were cast from a promo. I actually prepped the promo body for casting. I did some bodywork to it. I know he had an original 67 Pace Car kit but don't remember if he actually cast it.

Ok, this is the first non-Mopar video that I've ever clicked on, in my life. Great job on the car and the video! Back in '80 my high school buddy had basically this same car. But, everywhere yours is blue, his was red. The seats had red houndstooth insets. I listened to your narrative carefully to see what, if anything you may have said about any non white/blue editions. I didn't really hear his mentioned? Any thoughts? Yes, I know I could prolly Google it myself. But, it was not easy for me to break my non-Mopar rule I mentioned earlier and this will be the one and only, so I'm gonna make it good, lol! I lost track of him after graduation. That poor guy. It just goes to that money doesn't insulate you from tragedy. His pop was a senator or something and they were in a plane crash together. Dad was killed. Son, survived. He spun out mentally after that. Dam.

Thanks and I won't tell! It's hard to document a factory built pace car for 67 than it is for a 69 version. The experts on this say it is difficult to prove a pace car ordered during the pacesetter promotion as it applied to any Camaro ordered during that time and any color combo was available. It seems that if it was ordered in white with blue interior it is accepted as a pace car. If it is white with any other color interior it is not. The nose stripe code only talls you it had one but not the color of the stripe. All white ones came with a black stripe. Only the pace cars had a blue stripe but dealers did paint over a black stripe to blue.
Unlike the 69 Trans Am. Those were supposed to have blue interiors but a few were made with other colors. Pontiac has all the records and can tell you how each one was built. Some are documented with red interior.

Hey Raoul video production question for you - how do you get your logo to stay visible in the corner of the video all the time? Is that through CZcams or your video production software? I’d like to get my logo to show during my videos like yours does. Thanks in advance buddy.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler

The larger one that is up high is an overlay that I can size and rotate as needed. My brother drew it up. It is added when I edit and rendor the video with Davinci Resolve. The lower one that you can click on to subscribe is in You Tube.

I have a finished 69 Pace Car as well. Just have not featured it yet. I also have a 70 Olds 442 Pace car finished. And in my stash of resin is a 68 Torino Pace car and a 71 Challenger Pace car. I still have a Revell 72 Olds pace car that somehow I have not gotten to yet plus a resin 72 olds hardtop body.

What about the old Chev you mentioned, any plans to do that? Or is it possible? Maybe a resin body and a Galaxie Chevy kit for the base?

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler

I’m sure it could be done. Convert the 48 coupe from Galaxy Limited into a convertible then get the decals made.
