Cheers!
Have a couple questions... if you were connecting an additional sub with the 250w RMS output, how are the parameters set? Crossover / gain/ etc Is it adjustable by the customer?
For the RCA out for an additional amp/ passive subwoofer, is this output run through the lighwave's DSP? Just trying to figure out if this amp will meet my needs.
Hi Jason.
There are two options when it comes to connecting a trunk sub.
Option 1 is via the regular DSP controlled RCA pre-out + remote out where you can configure the output as you wish using the DSP meaning LPF/phase, delay, EQ - all the usual stuff that you would need to tune in a sub nicely.
Option 2 will be shown in a video on our channel soon. Long story short: If you don't mind disconnecting and loosing the center channel output - it can be connected to a trunk sub instead utilizing the 250W RMS @4Ohms or 400W RMS @2Ohms available on that channel. It to can be fully DSP configured.
I just re-tuned my buddies E92 M3 with 752A earlier today which has a 900W RMS capable 12" installed (takes up 1/4th of the total trunk volume) and it bangs hard enough to drone out the straight pipes drone which he has behind the headers. Believe me when I say you can hear that car from at least 2 miles away.
@@maciejstalmach2252so you can't use the sub out on this amp unless you disconnect the center speaker? What function does that give up? Isn't that were voice/Bluetooth calls come from?
@@alex5857 You would only have to skip on the center channel if you want to use the built in high powered speaker level output channel. If you use an active sub or add on a separate monoblock ampllifier for a passive trunk sub - you'll be able to drive it with the DSP controlled RCA pre-out.
Skipping the center channel output isn't a huge deal. The front stereo soundstage will still be beautifully generated by the front left and right channels. The phone, nav, PCD, gong, chimes will still run through the front L/R channels and everything will be audible no issues.
@@alex5857 Hi Alex,
You can add a trunk sub without loosing the center channel. It would have to ba an active trunk sub or a dedicated monoblock amplifier and a passive trunk sub connected to the DSP controlled RCA output like with all our other amps.
Loosing the center channel does not interfere with bluetooth calls or anything else - all those sounds still continue to go through the front left and front right channels and are clearly audible. Heck - we can route the phone output to any channel we want with this amp but it sure wouldn't sound good going through the under seat woofers ;)
Please show the current model Z4 some love - we need help!
Will do!
