My best guess is that Qimir was indeed a Jedi padawan, most likely Valnestra's although not necessarily, but her light whip is probably what caused his scars. He was very powerful in the force, but, either on his own, or goaded on by a dark side user or even Sith (who was hiding in plain site, like Palpatine), was tempted by and eventually fell to the dark side, and was kicked out of the Jedi order and banished, after doing something terrible that resulted in the scars that we see, most likely caused by Valnestra.
And, because it was believed that the Sith were extinct and no existing dark side users were a match for the Jedi, he was allowed to go free. Upon which he was recruited by a Sith master and made their apprentice, which he may still be, or not, but where he learned his dark side skills, which can't be learned on one's own or from witches. Chances are that he and his master were on Brandok when the events of E3 took place, and they were the mysterious hooded figures in the back in the induction ceremony, and were there to monitor and recruit the twins.
And, when they saw that the Jedi were about to take one of them away, they and the witches attacked the Jedi, who were forced to defend themselves and ended up killing nearly everyone there. The Sith escaped, probably separately with Qimir taking Mae, who didn't know about his master, while the Jedi escaped with Osha. Qimir then spent the next whatever years training Mae, and Sol and the Jedi trained Osha, but not for the past 6 or so years.
The real question is who Qimir's master is or was, if they're still alive, and if Qimir is still a Sith, or was himself cast out of the Sith order for being reckless or trying to murder his master. Probably his master is either Tenebrous or Plagueis, he didn't succeed in killing him, assuming that he tried, and has been trying to form his own Sith order, which ends up being the Knights of Ren, sort of the dark side version of a Mafia crew of unmade men hoping to someday become made men and perhaps even the Don.
An alternate take is that Qimir is himself Plageuis, but he's not a Muun, so unless he's also a shape shifter or they decided to change that, it's not likely. So I'm going with either current or former Sith apprentice, trying to form his own Sith order, with first Mae, and now Osha (he hopes) as his apprentice or acolyte, which ends up being the Knights of Ren. I don't think that Osha will fall to the dark side, though. She'll clearly be tempted, but like Ezra, Luke and others, she'll resist. What will happen to her and Mae, I have no idea, but if there are to be future seasons, they'll almost certainly be a part of it, or else this story basically ends here.

Qimir has already become the most fascinating SW character (for me at least) in a long time because he's not a demonic-looking, glowing-eyed Sith stereotype. He may have good reasons for going down his path, and I can't wait to see how his story unfolds.

The force I favored sith to bring balance to the corruption of the Jedi with its close ties to government. Likewise the force favored the Jedi against the imperialism. Maybe the path of the force is a neutral path. Glad the show is showing a broader perspective of the sith beyond just absolute evil.

Look up Imri Cantaros...he was Vernestra's Padawan who everyone thought died at Starlight Beacon. He was eventually rescued, but he went rogue on more than one occasion and gave into the Dark Side to win fights. He was from Genetia, and had very strong force empathy. If Imir is Qimir, that helmet would be how he controls random emotions from affecting him...letting him be alone with the force. Just an idea.

Possibly either apprentice to Tenebrous (sp?) before Plagueis or to Plagueis before Palpatine. Or neither, just a Dark Jedi with no formal connection to the Sith. Bearing in mind that he didn’t say he was a Sith, just that the Jedi might call him one. Possibly commenting on how the Jedi think anyone who accesses the force differently to how they do is evil.

Perhaps they want to leave the door open to a human female for a Sith Lord as a tick box exercise. Either way, not going with an excellent, very widely respected (albeit Legends) novel is going to be very disappointing. Darth Venamis was a prospective Sith Lord of the lineage of Darth Bane.
Tenebrous trained Venamis in violation of the Rule of Two, since he had another apprentice, Darth Plagueis. Despite Venamis's use of the Sith title, Darth, it was not legitimately bestowed upon him.
After Tenebrous died on Bal'demnic at the hands of Plagueis in 67 BBY, the latter discovered that Venamis kept a list of certain Force-sensitive beings as potential apprentices of his own
4D kept the comatose Venamis alive to manipulate and study. Around the year 42 BBY, Venamis was eventually allowed to die by Plagueis, his usefulness finally fulfilled. Afterwards, he was resurrected and killed again and again in the presence of 11-4D, as well as Plagueis's apprentice, Darth Sidious, until Venamis' organs finally ceased to function and Plagueis finally allowed the him to die for the final time.

A lot of people are thinking Qimir will end up being Darth Plagueis but I don't see how without breaking more canon. See, everyone knows about Darth Plagueis the Wise and all but few know about Hego Damask, the Muun magistrate of the Intergalactic Banking Guild, Plagueis' alter ego. See, among other things, it was Plagueis' money and power that helped him get what he needed and since the Intergalactic Banking Guild was founded and run by the Muun race, they would have to also retcon all of that as well too to make a human Plagueis. Him being a Knight of Ren or THE Knight of Ren makes a bit more sense but I don't think it's that either. I'm hoping he is honestly just someone we haven't heard about before. Maybe Plagueis or even Tenebrous will come into play before the end but making Qimir one of them would just be horrible.

But here have a 3 am rant because I'm stoned and bored...
Unless something gets rewritten we can go with legends material to fill gaps
Tenebrous died in like 67 BBY idr the exact date but he should still be alive and the master at this point unless they change it
Plagueis was born between 147 and 120 BBY So hes alive in the story RN probably not the master yet his birth was also the result of a scheme by Darth Tenebrous to create a more powerful force user this same scheme would later be recreated by Plagueis and Palpatine to create the chosen one. Currently I think the witches have also done whatever the sith have been doing to create a dyad in the force thats why the Jedi where there in the first place I'm pretty sure if they heard a rumor that a coven of force witches are trying to make super force babies out of thin air that should be looked into and raised not to like fire
I honestly dont get where the hates coming from besides things in the story that were suppose to be a surprise being obvious af I dont see a issue so far 10/10 on my cool bad guy list thay need to let him be his own character and not try to make him Plagueis or Tenebrous that would only ruin both characters

Worse case scenario, they are remaking all of star wars in their own image, and the star wars we knew (episode 1-6) is no longer canon

I don’t really mind the social issues explored in the show, but the writing is bad.

I think honestly in my heart of hearts that your theory is the actual truth.Ive jumped on every idiotic theory I've seen on CZcams & Reddit over the last week, loyally defending your theory: it just makes too much sense, it totally would stick to alot of the SW cannon, with some minor alterations( like the planet that starts with the "B" that I can't think of,where the atmosphere was uninhabitable).Keep up the stunning work my friend 👊✊

Any of these Star Wars pages try and push the Tenebrous-Plaguies connection are just being lazy. You guys are just speculating and saying what FB groups are saying. Neither of those Dark Lords had human apprentices. Qimir is a Knight of Ren. They aren't Sith. Stop this clickbait nonsense.
