    It just feels like the blacks keep having the exact same f-king conversation over and over again every episode of this season. It's not that I want more mindless action, but there is no mystery, no intrigue, no scheming.

      This, the daemon scenes and the focus on alicent losing her influence are dragging down the show. I get it, but it's repetitive and not as interesting as the other stuff that should be happening but doesn't gets screentime.

    • @prettyboyg1278

      It's a fact.
      - Daemon has dreams and visions going nowhere, while suspecting anyone except the witch in front of him
      - Rhaenyra is complaining every episode that she wants to fight and that men don't respect her, even though she's the queen.
      - and the rest of the blacks is just casually hanging around
      Pretty sure that's the case for at least 3 episodes by now.

      Before Tywin became Lord of Casterly Rock, the Lannisters were seen as a joke & this was mainly due to the incompetent leadership of Tywin’s father Tytos. Tytos was seen as weak & many of the lords under him took advantage of that, & Tywin had had enough. But there were 2 houses that caused Tywin to act & made him show the lords under him that the Lannisters weren’t weak: House Reyne & House Tarbeck.
      Both houses staged a rebellion against the Lannisters, & Tywin ended the rebellion as quickly as it began. He had both houses’ castles burned to the ground, & when they fled into the underground tunnels of House Reyne’s castle Castamere, Tywin had almost all the entrances to the tunnels buried under rubble & had his men dam a stream & divert it to the only open entrance. Tywin essentially drowned them all, ending Houses Reyne & Tarbeck & showing his lesser lords that the Lannister lions still had teeth.

    If i can only choose between the two id rather them go slow and overly flesh things out than neck break speed of the later seasons of thrones that ultimately killed it.
    The biggest problem with the show is how passive Rhaenyra is, they have stripped her of every bad bone in her body so they can do another "Dany the savior" character, so now she's not allowed to do anything interesting at all. GRRM has always said, the most interesting battles are the ones we fight within and there is no battle within for Rhaenyra like there is for other characters, she's jsut good, there wasn't much meat to the Dance as there was the mainline series to begin with and we are all feeling that, stripping Rhaenyra of what little she had from the book is biting them back hard.

      Yeah but what does she do in the book, not much apart from finding dragon riders at this point, If they end the season where i think they will, she will do something big in the last episode and it will be better with the fact she wanted to act all season and everyone is stopping her. She will have her "Fuck you, I'm doing it moment". There isn't much action in this part of the story in the book and they can't add much more since they have to follow what is known to history. What they can work around is small details, character development, and events that were misrecorded. Rhaenyra can't go, take her dragon and attack a castle by herself cause we know in the history book of Westeros that she didn't at that point, she was stuck in Dragon stone... Daemon can't go do stuff out of Harrenhal cause in the book (history) we know he was at Harrenhal gathering the riverlord and getting to know Alys... They have to follow the "Action from the book" and work more stories around those. I love this show cause it's actually following the book and expanding on stuff, adding a few bits. Like the part where she goes to see Alicent in the Sept... it's not in the book but it's ok cause it wouldn't have been recorded by the writers back then, it was a secret mission. Rhaenyra will be passive with the entire show mostly based on the book, she doesn't do much in the book in there of action, fighting, and such... cause she's a woman in a man's world. She's the queen so people don't want her to take risks, she would be a man and people would be more accepting of her going to battle. It's one of the main themes of the story. The dance is about a 100 pages in the book, it's not a long war, nothing happened, about 4 or 5 major fight (one being a ship battle and another a 1 on 1 dragon battle). And there is no hero, no main character, The show portrait Rhaenyra as the good one right now... it will change with time and the ending will be depressing. It's not a fun, story, there is no winner in this war. Like Ramsy once said: If you think this will have an good ending, you haven't been listening lol. Rhaenyra's battle is being a queen in itself, there was none before and non after until Daenerys.

    King’s Landing running out of food mainly because of a naval blockade makes no sense since the Capital has a land route to the Reach the most fertile region in all Westeros. • @alejandrobetancourt8123
      @alejandrobetancourt8123 Před měsícem

      It makes perfect sense. The majority of food comes from ships, there is already a lot of fighting happening in the reach, which leads to unstable supply lines, and the hoarding of food is going on, by the rich in kings landing (which was touched on by Hugh and his wife in one of the “slower” scenes that people are crying about) and by the major regions, who are preparing for war and need to feed their large moving armies. This is exactly what happened in pre modern wars as well

    • @ferrjuan
      @ferrjuan Před měsícem +2

      @@alejandrobetancourt8123 the majority of the food around Kings Landing comes from the Crownlands which Cole has already subjugated. Without cutting off the Capital from its land routes with a siege and naval blockade it makes no sense they can just get their food from the Crownlands, the Reach and the Stormlands. Since currently the only conflict in the Reach is Oldtown’s vassal House Beesbury fighting them for killing their former Lord. That alone shouldn’t cut supplies going to Kings Landing since the Reach produces more food than they can eat. Also there is no conflict in the Stormlands since House Baratheon is fully on board with the Greens. If the writers were smart they would have come up with scenarios like Bandits or Black loyalists in the Crownlands attacking and stealing their supply chain lines to the city using Guerilla tactics but unfortunately all they got is a blockade and people hoarding that’s it.

      @DRV110 Well, the Reach is the bread basket of Westeros, but with fighting going on there, I'm guessing that supplies are not consistent. Most of the westerlands resources probably went to the army marching to the river lands. Dorne wouldn't care. So that basically leaves the storm lands and the crown lands to support kings landing. The storm lands have been dragging their asses on assembling their army, and one can guess they've probably been slow to send food as well. The crown lands obviously have farms and everything, but the region is also at war. Who knows how much supplies went to Cole's march to Rooks Rest? All of this adds up to a supply chain that's not consistently providing food to the people. Supplies probably are coming by land, but not in a capacity that the city can get by on. We can even see in the show that the people aren't totally starving YET, but they will be soon.

People are not complaining to see dragon fights, they want good stories, tensions between characters, love, and betrayal . The material has all these things, and the writers did a fantastic job in season 1. But season 2 is just not even close to that level of writing.

    L take on the slow pacing. That’s exactly what went wrong the last 2-3 seasons of GOT. All action , no build up , and it ended up ruining many of the characters . Weakest episode this season is when raneyra teleports to talk to Allicent but otherwise very solid . Not sure if the characters are better than got but definitely better than seasons 5-8
    Loved aegon scene with larys. Second favorite was allicent escaping the mob and how it differed from Joffrey reaction in GOT , also her asking about her son in Hightower building him up as a “good” son .
    Agree though the daemon witch stuff is getting old . Feel like I’m watching dragon ball z where Gohan spends 10 episodes training on another planet . Raenyra also has to stop being useless.

    Guy, the Dance of the Dragon in the book is about 200 pages and this is considering all the stuff from season one that they run through actually. I don't know if they gonna show the aftermath but it's about 250 page on a 700-page book. There is stuff happening but not that much, They don't have to run through the action if they want to do 4 seasons. Remember Season 1 of Got was 10 episodes for about 700 pages. Starting from the first episode of season 2 (the start of the dance) is page 422 and the ending of the "War" is 571. There is far from as much content in terms of action in that war that lasted only 2 years and had about 4 major fights... I actually love that they add and go deeper into character development and storytelling and not run through the war. I want story and characters first and one great action piece by season is already great, especially if they do quality action like Rookrest instead of dumb action like the long night battle in Season 8. I understand you want stuff to move faster but it shouldn't move faster, stuff doesn't move fast in the book even if it's only about 100 pages. I do agree that we need a 10 episode season at least so that the slow stuff doesn't feel like it's eating time from the season.

    What do you mean Other Joe by saying nothing is happening, spinning its wheels? Daemon’s visions increasingly got more personal & reflective, leading up to the climax of Paddy’s return as Viserys. Their relationship in season 1 was key to the show, and they follow up on it here.
    He’s also not just getting visions, he’s developing his relationship with Alys Rivers, building his armies & Harrenhal, navigating the politics of the river lands, etc.
    So like what do you mean when you say nothing is happening? Because it sounds like just because there’s no action, you think nothing is happening. Which I’m sure is not what you’re trying to say- but that’s how it comes across. Arya spent a whole season traveling the Hound, Rob never made it to King’s landing in 3 ENTIRE SEASONS. Tyrion spent 8 episodes in prison in season 4. On and on. By your logic we could say “nothing is happening”.
    And maybe you would’ve said that when game of thrones was first airing if they did review it back then. Also continuously just diminishing Rhaenyra to “doing nothing”, but never explain what you mean by that or offer alternatives. Like you just come across, especially Alex, as thinking very basic plot & not actually about the characters & dynamics. For example, Alynn shaving his head to hide the blonde hair, the development of all these characters.
    Like they complained in season 1 stuff happened too fast but now they actually take their time setting up and developing all these characters and it’s “slow”. Like what are you talking about? There’s a reason these guys never reviewed shows like Succession, Breaking Bad, etc. I’m not saying you need a Harvard degree or anything but they think so basically for people who have been reviewing for so long.
    And to be clear, no HOTD is not as great as game of thrones. However I do think season 1 & 2 surpass GoT Season 1 (but not season 2, 3, 4, etc). I don’t think any character is as good as Tyrion, Jon, Rob, etc. However just because they aren’t 10/10 characters doesn’t mean they’re not very great. I would put most of the characters at 8 or 9, then Mysaria at like 6 maybe. All the performances are good, the writing is almost always well done, etc.
    So no it’s not GoT always but that’s like the best of the best tv period. Having an 8/10 with some 9/10 or higher moments, compared to a 10/10 like of thrones is still a fantastic show. I’m just tired of these nothing complaints like this is “slow” or bad pacing. What are you talking about? Actually explain, it just comes off as simple minded no thought criticism.

This is mostly caused by Daemon's shenanigans, so she doesn't know what to do, but if this is the case, where a character doesn't have a whole lot to do, show us LESS of them.
      Rhaenyra is a 5/10 character. All the show does is TELL US how badass and honorable she is. The show is great when she's not on screen.

    • @user-vt4hz2un6k
      @user-vt4hz2un6k Před měsícem +1

      @@asimhussain8716 define nothing, she’s clearly doing stuff. 1) She has acknowledged many times when her council was right like when she sent that guy in Episode 5 to go to Harrenhal and talk with Daemon directly. Essentially saying “I may not like how you spoke to me but you are right in some ways.”
      2) she allowed Rhaenys to go to war in episode 4 despite wanting to herself.
      3) she hatched the dragon seeds plot with Jace & is attempting to recruit dragon riders. Yes something went wrong but it will take time & more effort. Obviously not everything is just gonna work out perfectly, especially in thrones world, there are complications.
      4) she conspired with Mysaria to send out food to Kings landing & propaganda to the people to rile them up.
      Yes a lot these things are often other people’s doing, but that’s the role of a leader. You delegate orders and conspire with your advisors. She struggles with the fact that she can’t go out herself and fight, and you yourself just said if she fought that would be dumb. Which tons of characters like Jace argue to her.
      So again, quit saying “she’s doing nothing.” What else should be doing?? Like you cant simultaneously say it’s dumb if she fought but then also whine that she’s doing nothing. She’s hatching plots, political scheming, etc- that’s the DNA of game of thrones. Again I bring up the Tyrion in season 4 argument where he’s spending 8 episode in prison. Not to say she’s as good a character, she’s not. But I wouldn’t say “oh Tyrion sucks he’s doing nothing he’s just in jail this whole season.” That would be stupid.
      So again explain how she’s doing nothing. Explain to me what she would be doing instead. Quit simplifying everything and then refusing to offer any sort of alternative. It makes you sound like you’re complaining just to complain. She is not a 5/10 character lmao, she’s a great character. Written & performed beautifully. Yes Rhaenyra is not perfect 10/10 all timer, but shes still a great character. She’s trying to be rational but she’s human and emotional and flawed like every other character in thrones.
      She’s navigating a complex civil war, she can’t just leave dragonstone anytime and burn down everything. She has to use the dragons strategically. These things and plans take time, multiple epsiodes like in the original thrones show.
      I’m tired of these baseless arguments where you guys offer no real alternatives.
