- In this woodturning video, I fill a large split in a cool piece of Spalted Ash with epoxy and turn a hollow form.. The original plan was to keep the natural edge on this piece but the bark was loose and I thought it would be better to spin it and show off the filled split..

I had to Google "spalted", and I now feel educated as well as artistically entertained! The subtle amount of blue resin really set the markings off a treat. Absolutely beautiful!
I have to be up in 5 hours but noooo, I am down the wood turning rabbit hole again
Not only do I not have to work today, I wake up and see a new video from Andy. Today is going to be a really good day.
When you began turning the natural edge away I went, "Nooooooooooooooo!" so I'm glad you explained why you did it. I love the final shape of the vessel, and of course the spalting is exquisite.
The wood sounds so dry when you run your hands over it , reminds me of building balsa wood planes as a kid 😊
What a stunning piece of wood! It looks more like stone. Love the shape and the color of the resin, really lovely, keep going!
The colour and pattern in the wood makes it look like a map from a fantasy movie - I was looking to see if I could find the Misty Mountains.
The patterns in that piece are beautiful, I wonder how old the tree was that it came from. Looks like it would take a life time to make something so naturally gorgeous....another great job of bring out that beauty..❤❤❤❤❤
Love it! Blue is the perfect colour to compliment the ash
That would make a cool desk lamp.
Wow. Absolutely gorgeous piece of wood and work.
The art of seeing the end of a thing from the beginning is something not many people can see. You, my friend, see it clearly. Your best piece yet! Stunning!
Lovely! Spalted wood is so beautiful
The veining is lovely. The touch of color doesn’t overwhelm the beautiful wood. Very nice!
That is a gorgeous vase. That wood is absolutely stunning.
Beautiful. Split + spalted = splalted? The blue-green vein in it gives it an extra punch of wow. Thank you again for sharing.
you never miss, these are always so good
You’ve done an outstanding job!
Another gem for your collection Andy. Thank you sir!
I love the spalting on this piece and the blue resin is the perfect compliment, great looking vase
