    I have the Makita inflator, and one day I came out to a truck tire with the rim making a nice pancake of the thing. I was dubious that the inflator would have the strength, but it inflated the tire with the full weight of the truck on it as well. I was very impressed.

    Pretty much everything Makita does is good, not so much with Dewalt and Milwaukee. So if youre already on the Makita 18v battery platform, it doesnt make sense to buy a random milwaukee tool just because it inflates a tyre a little bit faster.

    I bought a Makita 18v for bicycle use and replaced the hose with a "Topeak Twinhead Bicycle Floor Pump Upgrade Kit". Kit comes with several adapters, but the 18v Makita needed a M8 M8X1 Female to M6 M6X1 Male fitting to make the connection.

    I’ve come across several wheels where a straight connection is a pain to get on or simply won’t fit at all (e.g. on wheelbarrows). The angled connector of the Makita doesn’t have that issue.

    I use a spring clamp on my Makita's power button. Once you have gotten over the initial frustration of a non-locking button, it really is not a problem. I'm Delighted with my 180z and it makes tyre pressure checks a quick move around the car as opposed to the drudge of the 12v cigarette lighter things.

    Use should use 6AH M12 battery with the Milwaukee for more power and runtime since the Milwaukee eats through a 4ah battery going from 0-120psi.

    It doesn't say you plug it in either, so the buyer should consider that too. So it's not all about the maker doing anything to receive, though that is a lot of plain box space in which Milwaukee could have included the information in large print. But again, people need to pay attention to what they are buying.

    I love Milwaukee tools, but their documentation is horribly lacking for just about every tool. And yes, their boxes suck too. I bought this little red inflator the day it hit the stores. I've used the piss out of it and it's saved my ass numerous times. So when I ran across a special on them with a battery for $59 USD and I got one each for my wife and 2 kids to keep in their respective vehicles and an extra. So, yeah, 5 of them......
    What it lacks is a cooling fan. I've run them past the 10min limit numerous times in 100 degree F weather without incident but they do get hot. I've had one thermal shutdown as well. I resorted to using an M18 fan with great results, but we shouldn't have to do that. It needs built-in cooling. Maybe in gen 2.... haha!
    Also, on a couple of occasions the pressure wasn't reading zero when I turned them on. To reset it, hold the power button and press the + button 3 times.
    For the record, I have several Makita tools and love them as well. But the zip tie on the trigger for this one was a deal breaker for me. Why no trigger lock? It's a rare thing for Makita to overlook something as glaring as this.

    When looking at a Milwaukee tool in it's box, look at the model number. To the best of my knowledge, when the model number ends with a "0" that means it comes with zero batteries. If the number ends with a "1" that means it comes with ONE battery. Ending with a "2" of course, means it comes with 2 batteries. 😉

      @@fradd4045 These all require communication with the battery contacts other than positive and negative. Generally it's some unknown resistor value (should be about 10k). So though it's possible you would also have to wire in a 10K ohm resistor to the sensing lead in the tool. During the manufacturing process it would take them really no extra work to wire a cigarette lighter plug to use in an emergency.

    Well, no surprise, the Milwaukee is at least 2 times bulkier than the little handy Makita, it is reasonable that it will have some more grunt. But still not that much by any mean, 20%?
    I have the 18V Makita version and with a 5Ah battery - it does all the job I need on car and bike tires, balls and other inflatable stuff - very swiftly and the battery last very long. The only real issue is that you always have to have your finger on the trigger, but - as pointed in the video - easily solvable.

    I love the CXT line, I don’t have any of the stuff from the CXT line, but there are some pretty cool tools in the lineup. I love these comparisons! I personally hate Milwaukee, because it’s nowhere near the brand it used to be, and TTI has ripped off so many other companies I just hate it. Although I might be a little biased towards Makita though, because they run a long history in my family, plus they basically had the first cordless drill ever made, and the first cordless jig saw and circular saw made. People hate on Makita because they think it’s not that good of a brand anymore, and I always say, Makita started out as a motor company, so they know what they are doing. Plus Makita is one of the few brands that has managed to keep the same owner for the last 105 years, think about it, Milwaukee has gone through a ton of different owners, DeWalt is a Zombie brand dug up by Stanley Black and Decker. Plus who else are you going to find that makes a cordless rebar tying gun, a electric assisted bike, a electric assisted wheelbarrow?

    • @theteenageengineer
      @theteenageengineer Před 3 lety +2

      @@Levi-mg4nf not to mention that they have the largest 18 volt cordless tool lineup in the world, and they pioneered the idea of taking 2 18 volt batteries and putting them in series to get 36 volts, therefore higher power tools. And they also pioneered the impact driver. The tools also last a very long time, at my school in my theater tech class we have 3 sets of the older white 18v makita drills and impact drivers, and they have to thrive on abuse, so being dropped 12 feet off of ladders, being thrown, being used as hammers, and all sorts of other things. And they are still functioning to this day. Some of the newer tools are made in China, but we just have to accept that almost all tools are made in China these days, and there is no difference between the China and the Japan models, except for maybe slightly better quality control in Japan. Makita is an amazing brand, and they deserve more credit than they get. I personally really enjoy this channel, because I get to see what’s inside the tools, and most of the reviews are of makita tools.

    • @TheDaniel85
      @TheDaniel85 Před 3 lety +1

      As nice as some Makita tools are, I can't really like them anymore. A lot of their line-up is made in china now with sub-par QC. Their 18V battery line is handicapped by the questionable dual 18V battery idea. Does Makita have any decent capacity & output compact 18V batteries? Nope. Why? Because dual 18V compatibility.
      Plus, if you manage to use your battery hard and then let it sit in the cold and try to charge it, you risk bricking your battery permanently.. Three strikes and it's toast. Really Makita? Even if the owner is the same, I have little to no love left for them.

    8:49 Yeah, as always with Milwaukee, that is the big question. Also, the larger displacement of the MW comes at a huge price - the form factor is far from great for a mobile inflator. While the Makita will pretty much fit under any boot floor etc., the MW really needs some space and will be in your way day in day out. So, given the fact that these things are not made to inflate whole tires from scratch but will usually be used to correct tire pressure (under which circumstance the few seconds difference really are absolutely negligable), I am not sure the compromise MW found is the right one for the majority of people. I for one like better what makita did, not only but also since the light on it pretty much was priceless any time I used it so far. Not sure why it's always dark when I check my tires but well, with Makita it really doesn't matter.

  • @seansfc
    @seansfc Před 2 lety +1

    Makita you have to hold the trigger an wait the whole time which defeats the purpose of having an auto shut off function when you can just let go of the trigger.
    Milwaukee has a screw attachment which wastes time so it doesn't matter if it faster in operation cus you waste time screwing it on.
