  • Tannus Armour is an insert the wraps around your tube inside of your bicycle tire. Tannus Armour provides 15mm of puncture protection on the top, as well as 2mm of sidewall protection. At the heart of Tannus is our patented Aither Technology. Aither is a multi-cell foam compound that forms the structure of the Armour.

Finally got fed up and bought some of these liners for my fat tire ebike last month. Got so fed up with 3 flats within a few months after just replacing the tubes. Had my Tannus liners for over a month with no issues now. Pulled out about 6 thorns and no damage to the tubes.

Good to hear they actually do protect! I had issues installing them and have 2 untrue rolling wobbly wheels.. hopefully that will fix or I have to wrestle fit them once more. I had 1 flat and on a long distance and hassle to get the bike home. That flat tire was blamed to the sharp edge of the rim and valve hole, that cut the tubes valve.

Great product idea! Although a bit expensive in my opinion. I just installed the 26" x 4.0" fattire Armour and had a very difficult time fitting it.
Admitted that my huge balloon tires are a hassle on their own to get fitted without flatspots..and the 10cm wide rims make ot all very difficult to get lined up correctly. For some unexpected reason, the armour is a smaller circumference than my inside of the tires, they're at least a few cm off! Therefore the tubes needs to stretch them alot and everything gets lots of friction to get fitted..i did need to cut the walls of the armour to get over the rims. After all the hassle of Wrestling them on and getting the rimtape tubes, and tires to stay somewhat where they supposed to be.. i inflated my tires to find out still my tirebeads wont align correctly. Both wheels have a low spot making them annoyingly wobble. I tried rolling with low tires pressure carefully..to squeeze everything into place.. didn't help.. inflating at a higher then recommended pressure made te tire to sits a little bit better and i leave it now overnight hopefully so that i can find its way a bit better..
If not im needing to lube my tires so hopefully they can slide better into place when pumping.
I like the Idea en assurance of knowing they are puncture proof..but there is no way i can tell my tubes arent pinched anywhere in the rim and everything is just way to rigged, stiff and sticky to get to the correct place naturally.

I just installed these on my e-bike. Actually feels smoother than without it. Installing though is a pain. Did take quite a while to do both wheels. The hardest part I find it getting the valve into the valve hole while the armour is half on. Also at one point the rim tape slipped and the hole wasn’t where it should. It really is annoying to install

Installed two Tannus inserts of different sizes in same size tyre to see what is best (a bit too small or cut to size as per Tannus recommendations).
First trial was a Tannus 700x42-47mm in a Maxxis Rambler 700x50c so on paper, a little bit under-sized. Went in without a tyre lever with good coverage on the tyre sidewalls as far as I could see.
Install was a breeze, the insert looked a bit narrow for the tire, but once inflated, the beads and the sidewalls were secured as low as 25psi.
The second trial was a Tannus 29x2.0-2.5 cut to size down to the 2.0 mark on the Tannus walls - 2.0 inches is about 50mm.
Install was simply impossible for a single person, the insert was too wide and too rigid to allow the tyre bead to sit in the rim groove.
I cut the Tannus sidewall another 5mm on each side - more than Tannus recommendations - so it measured like the smaller insert. This time I managed to install it with a lever, but it wasn't a walk in the park and in case of failure when riding, the reinstall wouldn't be fun :(.
Same result when inflated, at about 25psi the beads were seated and the sidewalls secured.
My take is: "if right between two sizes, go the smaller Tannus size"
Can't wait to give them a go on both road and gravel with a bit less pressure than my usual setup.

Not my experience. For my 26x4 the Tannus insert was shockingly small for rim. The tannus is like a super low profile tire inside my regular tire. Before inflating my tube I could grab a handful of loose tire with the insert and tube installed. The recommended tube was a struggle to force in without kinks. Once the tube gets aired up it gets better. I was hoping to run my tires closer to the 12psi range to improve traction on the trail but that is not recommended, so I bounce now more than when I ran tubes. I have had a nail puncture all the way through the tannus into the tube, but I think that was pretty unlucky. My hope is eventually I’ll be closer to flat free and be able to run my tires right at 15psi.

@@stevehanson2276 Hey Steve. That’s unfortunate that the install was not what was expected. I put tannus inserts in my 26-4.8 fattie as well and also in our 29-2.5 without any issues and have been flat free. I never run my fattie tires with more than 10 psi depending on the terrain but yes they do bounce the higher the pressure. Both fatties are hard tails so that makes them ride a little smoother. Sometimes you can use baby powder to make the install easier and smoother with the tubes.
Hope they work out for you in the end 👍

I bought inserts for my fat tire ebike and I still get flats.I just ride on the street.Problem with insert is they go flat and don't provide the protection because the foam flattens in your rim tube the other thing is they are almost impossible to change with inserts in the tire.I have taken to bike shops and they don't even like changing them they charge me triple the normal price to change a tire.I thought Tannus would be the fix but I swear to God I have had to fix over 5 flats within a year still with the Tannus inserts.Way over priced for pool noodle donuts.I am ditching them because I believe they have been more problems than they are worth.I thought I would really like them, but I hate them now not worth the money at all!I'm going to try Tuffy liners next.Even if I get flat I should at least be able to change tire myself and patch it.I can't do that with insert in tire cause I can't even get the tire off the rim.

    • @RideTannus
      @RideTannus  Před rokem +1

Sorry you've experienced a flat tire. Our insert can help reduce flats, not eliminate them entirely. We suggest deflating the Armour once a month or so, just to help with compression. The Armour will compress, which is a actually good thing and helps the material become denser and offers even better flat protection. Following the regimen of deflating the tire till squishy every month will significantly help the life of the Armour, but know, there will still be some compression. Bike shops have the freedom to charge their own service fees whether it be an E-bike or standard bike. If you reach out to our customer service team, they will be more than happy to send you out some new tubes? Thanks for watching!

I have 4 pairs they worked like a charm on larger tyres, I decided to buy one pair for my 700 X 32c... NIGHTMARE impossible to make it fit, soooo disappointed 😞

Can you tell me exactly how to use the chart? What does 700 x 35-40c --- 700 x 23-28c mean? Tubes comes in ranges. So what exact range of Tannus Insert and what exact Tube range must I get for a 700 x 40C tire? Can I get a tube that ranges from 25 to to 32c, or should I get a tube that has a *range* of 23-28c?
Why aren't there any instructions on the Tannus page? They just present the chart. The question section on Amazon is full of these types of questions.

Hi ValueOfNothing. When you order our Tire Armour Inserts you have the option to choose with tubes or no tubes. You do not need to select the tube size, they come paired automatically for you. Unless, you are wanting to order some spares? In that case, you would order inner tubes per your Armour Insert size. tannusamerica.com/pages/tannus-armour-sizing .
      Thanks for watching!

That's exactly the chart that I was referring to in my comment that I have questions on.
I do not know why you decided to ignore the questions I have, I guess I could repeat them if you want.
The question is if I have a 700 40c tire what exact product do I buy for the inner tube? What is the name on the package? Does the range on that package have to be exactly the same as the range that is mentioned in the chart or can it fall either on either side?
If you sell tubes why don't you put the product that you should buy for a given tire size in that column?

@@valueofnothing2487 Hi! Here's the size you would want to order for your tire size. *Armour:* 700 x 35-40c
*tube size:* 700 x 23-28c . This is on our sizing guide. Armour size and the Tire size are essentially the same thing. Merry Christmas!

SO AS A NOVICE INVENTOR I CAM, UP WITH A " MECHANICAL DEVICEs" that will install all 3 in minutes ps larger tires are not easier she says volume? but no more material to shove in so its the same---a pain in the arse

Ha. Kind of the other way around. Fat tires mount up like butter. Its the skinner narrower bike tires that are more of a tougher install

Never will I use these again, I cannot fit the tyres again as beading cannot be fitted again without ripping inner tube. That's even with smaller or inner tube provided with armour 3 inner tubes. Honestly pointless.

  • @borealcool
    @borealcool Před 2 měsíci

Maybe it's possible to install these on fat tires, but a regular MTB forget it. I gave up after two hours of trying and threw them in the garbage. The tube size they tell you to get for a 29x2.35 doesn't even exist, which then leaves you with too much excess tubing. You'll also have to break your back stretching the Tannus first because the 29" model of Tannus isn't 29" at all but more like 28". Pure junk.
