“Despair and Delusion” is a good name for a war between Maggotkin and Flesh Eaters.
Love the FEC showing up as some random third wheel between Order and Chaos. I can imagine an order scout reporting back to the city like "Ok, I've got good news and bad news...".
As an FEC player, glad to see them getting some lore love
same here, the new marrow scroll herald certainly explain how they get more fresh recruits from slightly defended towns, and don't get me started on the beast flayers, and this is all before the new book is realised so yeah FEC are getting some respect.
Respect to the Maggotkin for that ambush plan to figure out what the heck was mysteriously ruining their plagues.
Really love when we get those bizarre battles of two monstrous armies just slamming into eachother and countering sinister magic with terrifying spells.
The FEC momentarily gaining sanity is a nice nod to what their earlier books said caused their Battleshock, normally too noble/deranged to be a casualty via cowardice or panic but when it does happen it’s because the madness left them and they get killed either by just standing their shocked or tragically their former fellows also see the same ghoul as what he really is and strike him down as a monster that infiltrated their ranks(kinda gives the madness a hive mind vibe with how it affects the hosts and let’s them see eachother as they see themselves)
But yeah, can’t wait for my Harbringer book to arrive and read these cool battles. They remind me of Malign Portents 2.0 with Death foiling Nurgle’s forces and giving some Order forces breathing room. Hopefully with the Hallowed Knights being bolted in Gardus can use his compassionate views to see having Sir Jerrion as an ally to save the vulnerable outer territories until a full Dawner retaliation crusade can be organized and launched like lancing a Maggotkin boil.(maybe the new Aqshy Freeguild stuff & Grimhold Fyreslayers will show up to cauterize the wounds on the verdant lands 🔥)
Love it when you get to do nurgle content. I really wish the glottkin made an appearance in this story, maybe he will later on… I need my glotty fix
I'm hoping we get the introduction to pestigors for BoC. Would be nice to have a slightly tanky unit
