Delegating ADA - your stake, your call

- When it comes to delegating ADA and choosing a stake pool, it can feel a bit overwhelming at times. The Cardano stake pool ecosystem is coming alive, with a host of great stake pools to choose from.
So where to delegate - and what should you base your choice on?
You should always do your own research so you can make an informed choice and this isn’t financial advice. But this video might help make your options a little clearer.
In this video, we start by looking at how rewards mechanism works on Cardano, and then go on to talk about how you can delegate your ADA in the interests of the network and your own.
It’s early days and as much as the core protocols and parameters will take us to where we need to be, your choice will determine how fast and how smoothly we get to where we all want to be.

I like Dave's videos, glad IOHK picked him up.
it's bang on hey, something about him and the way he's videos are created.
I learned absolutely nothing about how to choose a pool, besides avoiding 0% margin and over 30% saturation. Was this the point?
The point is to avoid large multipool entities like 1PCT that runs 28 full pools and that is seriously overleveraged (One single entity controls 1.3 billions ada thru delegation. Way too much power for one person).
Great video. I didn't realise so much ADA was staked in the big stake pools. If we are in it for the long term, it is necessary to re-think about your stake.
I made it super easy to track via adapools.org/groups - there are 130+ groupings already.
hope a lot of people watch this video and actually take it to heart! Thank you Dave for making it easy for anyone to understand. glad you are with IOHK! WELL DONE!
WOW! You guys really stepped up your quality since the last time I've watched an IOHK video. Great job!
The video is very confusing. What's the point of using so many archival images for a particular theme? I'm sorry to say that you didn't get it right this time.
Yet another great video by David. Thank you!
Dave’s videos keep you on your feet. always action packed, and full of good information!
Perfect video! Great! Thank you!! You rock Dave!!!
Great video David, great to see simple straight to the point videos coming out
So in this video, we only hear about keeping the leverage "low". What is "low", exactly?
totally thought this was a David video.. didn't realize it was an IOHK release. Great job!!!!
Would be great to see this kind of content integrated into the Cardano website :D
Great video David. 👍🏽 Thank you for putting together and being so succinct.
Wow! So educational. So simply communicated. Thanks dave!!
Dive deeper into the topic of groups and leverage via adapools.org/groups
Freakin awesome vid! We need more of these!!
Top notch videos! Great job David!
this might seem like a silly question, but do I place the most significant weight on the quoted "potential rewards" when selecting a pool? I see it whenever I click on a pool's details.
Love the project, love the community, so excited to watch the next few years of cardano unfold
Another home run.... 🚀
Great job 👏 David
A really good Video!
Good Video David, like the slide explaining the % comparison of 10K staked only making the difference of 11 ADA/annum
Thanks Dave for sharing this nice and easy to follow. Great just started staking my ADA's
Para quem não é fluente em inglês, traduzi esse vídeo no meu canal! (Português, Inglês e Espanhol)
For those that aren't fluent in English, I've subtitled this video on my channel (to English, Portuguese and Spanish).
This is an excellent explainer!! So important that every ADA owner watches this. The stake pool fee was a critical bit of info! Thanks for the update. I wonder if Binance and other exchanges get users to watch this. I hope so!
Really great video, which for sure should help the beginners, thanks!
Nice video Dave! 🚀
Well explained! Good jod David. We would love to see Spanish subtitules for this content along with the Japanese ones, maybe we could help?
GREAT video! 🦆
Well Dave was a good hire haha! Keep it up!
Excellent video!
Great info on staking
Great looking and informative video 📹
Cardano wants decentralisation and they want many stake pool owners. The problem is that it is very hard for a stake pool owner with a modest investment of say 20,000 USD to even successfully mint one block. There are many small stake pool owners contributing to the stability of the network but don't have a chance because you need around 6 to 7 Million ADA (currently around 1M USD) staked to your pool to be able to mint about one block every 5 days which gives a reward of around 100 USD every 5 days. If true decentralisation is going to be achieved there needs to be a rewards mechanism whereby small stake pool holders can get rewarded. Yes the rewards may be a lot smaller but currently it only attracts whales.
Now, that's the quality of videos IOHK needs to correspond to the quality of the Cardano project!
He is doing a much better job than the CF is doing for years
He's back
this videos is well explain about leverage I hope delegator understand and make Cardano more decentralizes great content
When did youtube stop displaying like counts?
Is staking ADA in the Exodus wallet safe?
I mean at 1:56 isnt this the pareto principle in effect ? It's pretty much a natural phenomenon in all distributed systems ? Are we trying to break that?
Nice video BUT: I'd like to see some IOHK or CF official animated 'How it works' videos that explain in simple words how the different important parts of the cardano network works!(max 5 minutes) There are tons of great videos that cover other complicated subjects in such a video format. IMO the explanatory power of animations on tough subjects should not be underestimated!
so hold cardano or sell?
Ok, I get that we must delegate our ADA and how to choose the most convenient pools, but could you make a video of how to get in a pool and delegate ADA? because Idk what I'm doing.
I have 5,5k ADA - is it able count to start own pool?
Great Content! I see so many pools oversaturated yet
?
Do you need to specify the amount you are staking or does it just stake all the ADA in your wallet?
From what I was told it stakes all the ADA in your wallet
Suggestion: A video explaining to non crypto people what is proof of stake and how can one earn passive income.
I try explaining this to my non crypto friends but i lose them... I think David can explain it better. :) [If this suggestion is read and taken into consideration DO NOT MENTION Proof of Work, it confuses people even more...]
perfect
What is to stop 1 person / company from owning multiple pools and thus making it more centralized ?
The cost and time necessary to build multiple successful pool brands :)
We have an incredible community and everyone holding ADA right now will be a part of shaping our future.
watched the video 10 times but still dont find a way how to find a good pool which is not saturated
Check adapools.org , there are a lot of ways you can filter pools. I'd look for one with a high pledge and fair margin and make sure the ROA is decent(Should be around 5.5%, anything higher is likely just luck and will go down over time), but also check the 'about' tab on the pools page, make sure there is more than one relay and preferably in different locations. Check the pools website and see if they seem worthy of your delegation.
The pictures of the pharmacy isle is so Confusing like add we selling toner?
This is how it is done. 👍
Please keep in mind, that there are people out there who don't know anything about Cardano. Also the video was really fast and I had to watch it two times. Most of the clips in between the information were placeholders spammed my brain with useless pictures. Anyway it is a start in the right direction, but does need some more finetuning to get accepted by new ADA hodlers.
how to undelegating your ada ?
I dont really understand this manual aspect of constantly monitoring and switching around stake pools losing ada in the process. My other staked cryptocurrencies work without having to deal with any of this. If ADA is going to make it to Coinbase and peoiple can stake from there, what sense are all these ever changing pools?
With how strategic Cardano has been with everything else are you saying that they didn't know that this would be a possiblity?
Great video! However appealing to someones interest to keep the network safe vs. lower rewards is not gonna work. That's just not how people behave. There needs to be some kind of mechanism that prevents users from staking their ADA to pools with high leverage. I don't have a solution, but without one, centralization of the network will inevitable sooner or later.
Is there another way to un-delegate my stake pool and recover my stake pool deposit since Daedalus wallet removed this option. I can't do a wallet restore and move all my ada to a Yoroi wallet because my 24 recovery phases are not verifiable. I still have access to my wallet, but for how long?
@Cardano I found the recovery seeds, but I stake my cardanos on Kraken exchange. After I recovered my deposit, I ended up losing my money because of the transaction fees. It really didn't make sense why they charged me twice for staking and the return my deposit back. Since I don't have a lot of ADAs, so staking on Kraken is the best option for me.
nice, must delegate to pools with less than 1% stake and decent ROS
Looking for a good cross reference on your choices? Check via adapools.org/groups
I delegated with Dave open and honest
What else can one ask for
Goddamn you have such a good voice.
Loved the info - hated the generic, random clips though
Agree, was definitely too much of it
do i lose my ADA, i dont understand... my english isnt the best... should i do something?
Can we get this in English? So low margin is bad? We should want to get charged more? Where do we find how much is leveraged? Might be easier to sell and buy an digital asset with easier staking mechanism.
Gonna keep my pool at 5% Safe, secure and proceeds help kids in Uganda, Africa
I can delegate to multiple pools to get more rewards
My gifts did not come, what could be the reason?
👍
Why is he not CF employee?
Bloom pool is the place to go.... High pledge, no splitting, known operator (Big Pey - who's been there from the beginning). Look what they did after K changed! Over a $1 million in pledge to secure the network! Good video!
Agree Pey is awesome. But he is creating new pools. I actually don't have a problem with it, as I think the good operators should be able to have multiple pools, the problem is there being no limit. Pey is doing it the right way with significant pledge and providing excellent content for the community.
It's only an idea, but I think since the original K setting was 150, the community should be OK with pool operators have 1 pool for every 150 - so with K increasing to 500, running up to 3 pools should still be seen as supporting the network as well as being conscious of decentralisation
technically, they are splitting, they have 10 mil pledge split across 6 pools. it's great they are bringing a lot of pledge to keep leverage lower, but the centralization aspect is worrying. they are backed by multiple people (would have been cool if each person ran a pool instead) and the information they provide comes with the bias of their situation, calling much of the recent staking blog iohk.io/en/blog/posts/2020/11/13/the-general-perspective-on-staking-in-cardano/ by Cardano's chief scientist false, or just flat out saying part of it is a lie czcams.com/video/drtvkkuNdmk/video.html
I would try to redelegate if Cardano node was not crashing all the time. Please fix it.
Great Video David.... This is why I delegate to DAVID LIKES CRYPTO.
So where to delegate ?!??
2:43
I want to buy ada and join your staking pool.
#Cardano
free stock footage compilation?
Doesn't have the imprints so he may of paid something...
Its Dan! Dano, Car dan o!
I pick you
#Cardano no1
Anyone else stuck in 'Loading stake pools'?
Too complicated for average people...
Everyone should Delegate to Dave's pool, JUST SAYING
It’s Not Car-dane-O ... it’s Car-Don-O
first, where have you been bro?
Hi David, i'm not sure that you are agree with what you said in this clip, compare what you said before you jon to IOHK. You've got one pool so, do you sugest that I have to redelegate from your pool? And delegate to the BLOOM ?? Nonsens!!! this is not decentralised system, if you try to convince me to delegate to the guy who got 6 pools. I prefered your video before you join to IHOK, now your video is not the same quality, it's similar grafic and skills but content isn't from hart... I can smell for a 100 miles that youve been paid for this video corporation ADA money. Dont like it. Shame
Imagine Coinbase pools once they list and stake ADA.
car DAN o...
what was that about? Where do I delegate my ADA ....now I am really confused!!
Pareto principle at work again. 80-20 rule always manifests. 80% of the land owned by 20% of the people. 80% of ADA staked by 20% of the pools.
Your video's go way too fast man. Most of your viewers are probably not native English speakers. I have to pauze and rewind all the time.
This is so fucking complicated for the average investor...
20% of the people make 80% of the money. That is about as natural as it gets, in EVERY field.
I am staking ADA already I have to stop staking now ?
Thanks for this video, great job, and I hope people listen to what you are saying, but you could maybe offer some real training, like free (or paid) courses, education is fundamental.
How does the 90% of the world learn about delegation?
You can start by showing them the way. Made it easier for everyone: adapools.org/groups
Disabled like/dislike = not cool.
