I told you there would be a beatdown from the #Luxembourg episode. Now THIS is a country you might want to take notes on. The only Afro-Austronesian country in the world with Lemurs and sharp stone forests. #MADAGASCAR. Meet the African country so strange, some even call it the "8th continent." Enjoy.

I'm a Malagasy who moved to France few years ago and my everyday first encounter goes generally like:
    - why I don't look african?
    - why do I have a French family name?
    - Am I sure it's not "Madagascarian"?
    - how to get to (inexistant) lions/hippos/zebra there?
    - Can I go to the beach everyday?
    - why our malagasy family names are sooo long?

There are two things I don’t understand and I forgot to actually ask my friends about them in Madagascar: Why the long names? And why have French names? Many African countries were also colonized by the French but they don’t give French names to the children. I lived in Morocco as well for example and they name their children with Moroccan not French names. Btw, I went to Madagascar and I fell in love with the kindness and sweetness and love and respect I experienced from the Malagasy people. Without a doubt Malagasy (as well as Ethiopians) are the most kind people and will make you feel welcomed. I am now considering living there!

I'm actually from Madagascar and I loved your video. It even made me cry because you showed the amazing and beautiful part if this marvelous land. What made me cry is that even if it's all true, there's more negative parts than positive ones. Corruption is everywhere. Malagasy people are very poor, they can't even visit all those beautiful place mentionned, they don't have enough centre of education, no medical facilities, no food, no house (i mean most of them doesn't),...and the list goes on.
The sad thing is that the gouvernment doesn't really care, instead, they sell the territory and the wealth to foreigners for their own profit.
We really need help, because the people mentality is so down. They're selfish ( cause they're poor) 😢, some doesn't make any effort because "God will make everything OK, we gotta be patient"🙄, and also some are tired because it seems like no matter how hard they try, it doesn't change anything.
Also the "diversities" between Malagasy is such an awful and an ashaming thing, WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER (because there are literaly a lot of fight and belittlement between them instead of help for the country's interest).
    Thanks for reading🤗

@@mohdghani7171 Christian missionaries arrived in Madagascar in the 1800's or 1700's and Catholics have many infrastructures (schools, hospitals,....) Christians in Madagascar are mostly Catholics and Protestants (and sects are proliferating). Most believers in Madagascar are Christians so I don't think missionaries still even need to convert anyone.
The muslim community is much smaller and is mostly located in the coastline cities. I don't know much about muslims in Madagascar but they are active.

Antananarivo means City of the Thousand, in Malay/Indonesian, it's called Tanah Nan Seribu, Tana/Tanah means land while ribu/rivo/ribo means a thousand. The Austronesian language family is one of the most established language families in the world, alongside Indo-European in the sense that you can clearly see the connection between languages in Madagascar, maritime Southeast Asia, and Oceania. A quick look to our numerical nomenclature would give away the connection between these languages.

Yohan iron I'm not aware enough of Malgasy news to say anything about that particular case. I just know that nowadays the plague is fairly easy to cure with antibiotics. So even if a case occurs it should be easy enough to treat it and prevent it to spread. At least until a resistant strain appears.

Okay, so here's the error thing in your video. Nirina Zubir is an Indonesian celebrity. She was born in Antananarivo. But she's not a malagasy whatsoever. Her parents are Indonesian (Minangkabau, in specific), but she was born there because her father was a diplomat of Indonesian Embassy in Antananarivo. And her first name "Nirina" was given by a Malagasy (I forgot this Malagasy btw, this guy seems quite politically influential for Indonesia-Madagascar relationship, perhaps a minister).

Madagascar's ancestors came from Indonesia. That statement to some people sounds like a joke. Madagascar, an island off the east coast of Africa, is 8,000 kilometers apart by the Indian Ocean from Indonesia. One is Asian, one is African. How can you be a relative? Among the Malagasy-dominated Madagascar community, the story is told from generation to generation, that people from the archipelago/Nusantara came centuries ago through ship expeditions to Madagascar.
