      Basically yeah, Frankish actually, sort of an early French (I think).

    • @sizanogreen9900
      @sizanogreen9900 Před 6 lety +10

      Yeah, clearly categorizing people that far from the past into modern groups isn't always that easy. If I am remember correctly the Franks originally came from the area around belgium/the netherlands. Then expanding to include most of modern day france, a lot of germany and I think even a bit of italy. Then splitting into three kingdoms, western francia, lotheringia and eastern francia. Western Francia then eventually turned into france taking up the name. No guarantees though (^_^)'

    • @ankhi3585
      @ankhi3585 Před 6 lety +9

      Old French is still mostly Vulgar Latin. The Frankish influence mostly relates to the pronunciation and spelling (it's the main reason why French looks so different to other Romance languages although the word roots are the same and the grammar is very similar) and loan words (the words starting with "gu" in French and "w" in English for instance).

    Hi Paul, would like to say. When you mentioned the Central African Railway network, in this Malawi video. You displayed a American Locomotive (Train), travelling through the country, instead of a African Malawi Train. Any african locomotive or train would of been great. Instead of a an American 4ft 8ich gauge train, in most African nation, they have/use a narrow gauge railways, which is 3ft 6ich, like Malawi. You do great video and I'm not disliking what you do, just thought to let you know.

    Yay, Malawi! I can finally share what little knowledge I have!
    1. From my high school history, I remember that in 1953, Malawi (Nyasaland), Zambia (Northern Rhodesia), Zimbabwe (Southern Rhodesia) formed The Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland in 1953 for economic reasons. It ended in 1963 due to political reasons with Malawi and Zambia gaining independence in 1964.
    2. The similar language you mentioned at 9:53 is called Nyanja, spoken in Zambia. It's sort of like a slang-infused version of Chewa.

    Coffee has a scale of 100 for quality, everything less than 84 is commercial grade, Starbucks, McDonald's, IHOP, that kind of coffee. Everything higher is known as specialty grade.
    We skip over coffee that is 85 or below, and a farm from Mzuzu actually produced some amazing coffee which we have at our sister coffee shop in Southern California.

    Love these videos so much! I’ve been waiting for Malawi for quite a while. I went there with my school in 2016 to visit the projects we supported. One of which was a secondary school in the rural north. My school was the only organisation which supported then!! I was a bit surprised that you didn’t mention that lake Malawi is the calendar lake as it is 365 meters long and 12 meters wide. I was however pleased to see you mention the strong links with Scotland, I’m Scottish myself and when I went there were literally Scottish flags everywhere I swear even more than the national flag!!!

    Yasss my home country is next!!!!
    Barbs plz notice me cause I was born in Malaysia and I have a lot to tell you!!
    Malaya got their independence on 31 August 1957 and united with Sabah,Sarawak and Singapore joined and formed the Malaysia but Singapore left though.Even though we have no volcanoes like our neighbour Indonesia,we have a hot springs here in the state I am living in,Sabah.My country recently had their elections and for the first in Malaysia's history,the opposition won by a landslide and everyone in my country worked together to depose of the party that was responsible for Malaysia's biggest scandal,1MBD.I mean seriously,many people were working together to get rid of the goverment that just cheated and lied for getting profit for themselves while the people were suffering.As you can see westerners,my country in not seperated and stop saying my country's flag looks similar to America's flag.Also our languege,Bahasa Malaysia,has English words in it just made to look different.For example...
    Simpati=Sympathy
    Dedikasi=Dedication
    Televisyen=Television
    We also some words that are simmilar to Portugese like
    Keju=Queijo
    Almari=Armário
    And basically my home country languege is a mix of a lot of langueges basically.Also there is a community of Portugese living in Melaka from the days when Portugal colonized Melaka.
    I hope my knowlegde helped you with your next video!! Oh and by the way
    I was waiting for the day you would make a video about my country ever since I subscribed to your channel :)
